Canopy cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Heart's Delight

The canopy is the part of the extract everyone in the kitchen sees. Being first in line, it collects grease on the inside surfaces, along the seams and in the troughs. Our canopy clean covers the shell inside and out, plus the plenum and the filter housing. The work covers island canopies, wall canopies and plenum chambers, and common reasons people get in touch are a filter housing caked in grease and fat running down the front of the hood.

Somewhere as small as Heart's Delight, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.

It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

How the job changes from site to site

Pub and hotel kitchens

Staff in pub and hotel kitchens work under the canopy all day, so drips and smells soon become a daily nuisance. A thorough clean puts that right.

Plenums and filter housings

Behind neglected filters, the plenum can be heavily coated. Heavy deposits are scraped out by hand before degreasing.

How we price canopy cleaning

A fixed price needs a few facts first. We check:

  • The size of the system
  • The condition we find in the survey
  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • Any permits to work or inductions

We don’t list prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we will explain what it covers.

Asking for a quote

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:

  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • Problems your staff have spotted
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • Any previous report or certificate

Getting a quote doesn’t take long. Call or email with a few details and you’ll usually have a fixed price within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.

Managing agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Why act early in Heart's Delight

Fresh grease comes off far more easily than old. Over months, the heat hardens it into a stubborn coating, which makes a later clean slower and harder. Rural sites can’t always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.

What you pay depends on the size of the system, the condition it’s in and access to every part of it. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Why book with us

  • CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001
  • Fully insured
  • Work around your opening hours, with 24/7 emergency cover
  • A fixed price before any work starts

How it works

Protection comes first: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several, and we clear up before we go. In a small place like Heart's Delight, the journey is planned ahead and the visit arranged around the site’s hours.

  1. The canopy is checked from pictures or on a visit.
  2. Once the kitchen has closed, the cooking line is cooled and sheeted.
  3. With the filters removed, the plenum and filter channels are cleaned.
  4. Inside and out, the hood and its troughs are cleaned.
  5. We put the filters back, tidy up and photograph the finished canopy.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the space around the work
  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Find the previous report, if there is one

Get a fixed quote

There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from photos or on a visit, then send a fixed quote. To start, call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

  • Canopy gutters full of old fat
  • Grease dripping from the canopy edge
  • A greasy hood noticed by an inspector
  • Heavy deposits behind the grease filters

Questions to ask before you book

Your questions about canopy cleaning in Heart's Delight

Which fire authority looks after Heart's Delight?

It’s Kent Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Heart's Delight. TR19® is not law, but it’s the benchmark many fire officers and insurers look to when they ask how often the extract is cleaned.

Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Heart's Delight?

Food hygiene inspections in Heart's Delight are carried out by Canterbury City council. Ratings are published by the Food Standards Agency, so a clean extract and good records are worth keeping up.

Do you cover Heart's Delight?

Yes. Heart's Delight is part of the area we cover, within the South East and London area we cover.

What causes grease to drip from the hood?

Most drips come from overflowing troughs, damaged filters or a plenum thick with grease. We clean all three and point out anything that’s causing it.

Who is the responsible person?

It depends on the building. The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty on the responsible person, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, facilities manager or managing agent.

Will I get a report after the canopy clean?

You get a photo report with before and after pictures. Full system cleans also come with a TR19 certificate.

Are you accredited?

We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we are fully insured.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. One number covers all your sites in our area, and visits can be set on a regular cycle.

What staff can safely do

When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.
