Canopy Cleaning in Adversane
Canopy cleaning for commercial sites in Adversane and across West Sussex. BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease.
- Poor capture at the hood
- Filters that never seem to stay clean
- Heavy deposits behind the grease filters
Canopy cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Adversane
A kitchen team can wipe the outside of a canopy, but the seams, gutters and inner skin need more. Thick deposits are scraped off by hand, then the surfaces degreased to suit what’s there, using hot water or steam where it helps. The work covers island canopies, wall canopies and baffle filters, and common reasons people get in touch are a canopy that no longer draws the smoke away and a hood coated in old grease.
Somewhere as small as Adversane, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease, whatever the size of the place.
We have been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

What affects the cost of canopy cleaning
The survey tells us what the work involves. We look at:
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- Any permits to work or inductions
- Where the site is and how we reach it
The cost depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and how easy it is to reach. We give you a fixed price before work begins, so you know where you stand.
Helping us quote
Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.
How the job changes from site to site
Plenums and filter housings
The rails and channels that hold the filters collect grease. We clean them so the filters sit tight and leave no gaps.
Grease troughs and gutters
Where a trough drains into a grease cup, that’s emptied and cleaned too, and we will show staff where it is.
When to call us in Adversane
A canopy with gaps around its filters lets grease straight through. The plenum and housing behind them then take far more grease than they should, which shows up as heavy deposits when the filters come out.
It’s time to book a visit if you see:
- Drips from the canopy onto the range
- Wet, greasy drips from the hood
- A canopy that no longer draws the smoke away
- Overflowing grease troughs and gutters
If your kitchen is in a listed or historic building, like the houses around Adversane (Old Place Manor is about 3.2 miles south-west), fitting access panels needs care.
What your quote should include
- Whether they’re fully insured
- Their accreditations, such as BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, CHAS or SafeContractor
- When the next visit should be, and why
- Whether a written report and photos are included
The process
Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. The visit itself takes a few hours for most canopies. Somewhere like Adversane, lanes, gates and parking are worth mentioning in advance.
- We look at the canopy first, from photos or on a visit.
- Cooking equipment is left to cool and the area under the canopy protected.
- Filters come out and the plenum behind them is scraped and degreased.
- We degrease the canopy shell, its seams and the grease troughs.
- We refit the filters, clear up and photograph the finished canopy.
How to prepare
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
How to get a quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

Canopy cleaning around Adversane
The fire and rescue service for Adversane is West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract. Adversane, about 38 miles from central London, is within our usual area. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, so the visit fits around the site.
Term dates shape school work: for a school like The Weald School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break.
Adversane is about 8 miles south-west of Horsham, in West Sussex. What your team can do, and what needs us
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.
Questions from Adversane
Do you work in villages like Adversane?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A survey first, from pictures or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.
Can you come to Adversane after we close?
Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. Your customers, staff or residents in Adversane needn’t be disturbed. Let us know the hours you are closed and we’ll book within them.
Do you provide photos of the cleaned canopy?
A photo report shows the canopy and plenum before and after. If the canopy is cleaned as part of a full TR19 clean, a TR19 certificate is issued too.
What happens if you can’t reach some of it?
They’re listed in the report, never skipped quietly. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.
Are you insured?
Yes. Full insurance covers our work and have been trading since 2009.
Where does the waste go?
It leaves the site with us at the end of the visit. During the work, it’s contained to keep the area clean.
What’s TR19?
TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.
What types of premises do you cover?
Any site with a kitchen or a ventilation system to look after, from a small pub to a hospital. Hotels, schools, care homes, offices, shops and leisure sites are all part of our work.
For landlords and multi-site operators
The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.
We regularly work with managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
Keeping the system healthy
Aftercare is simple, and it helps at the next visit:
- Run the extract the whole time you’re cooking
- Keep grease cups and drawers emptied
- Refit filters the right way round and fully seated
- Keep every filter in place while cooking
We point out anything we noticed while the canopy was apart: damaged filters, gaps around the housing or troughs that need emptying more often. We keep it to what matters.
A daily wipe of the hood keeps fresh grease from baking on. It doesn’t reach the plenum, but it stops the outside building up.
