AHU cleaning in Weston-on-the-Green

AHU cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Weston-on-the-Green

Units vary a lot in size, age and layout, from a small ceiling-mounted unit to a large rooftop plant. Every job starts with a survey, from photos or on site, followed by a fixed quote, so you know where you stand. The work covers drain trays, internal panels and heating and cooling coils, and the jobs we see most are dust built up on fan impellers and drain trays holding standing water.

Rural buildings with mechanical ventilation, such as care homes and country hotels, often keep their units in roof spaces or outbuildings, which makes them easy to overlook.

Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

What staff can safely do

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.

Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Between visits

No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. Our tips:

  • File each AHU report in the maintenance log
  • Note any water around the unit or leaks below it
  • Make sure condensate is draining away
  • Report musty smells from the vents straight away

Stick to the filter change schedule, because good filters protect everything downstream. Log every change so it’s easy to see when the next is due.

Make sure access doors and panels on the unit open easily. Sections that are awkward to open are the ones that get skipped.

What affects the cost of AHU cleaning

The price is fixed before any work begins. It takes into account:

  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
  • The condition we find in the survey
  • How many systems or sites are involved

We do not list prices on the website, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. For a fixed quote, call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email, and we will talk you through it.

Asking for a quote

You do not need the technical terms. It helps if you can send:

  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • Wide pictures of the system and the area around it

Want a quote for AHU cleaning? Please call us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and tell us about the site. We will talk you through the work and give you a fixed quote before you commit to anything.

Why deal with it now?

Standing water in a drain tray does not clear itself. Left alone, it can overflow, leak into the plant area or ceiling below and spread smells through the system. Dealing with it early keeps the clean straightforward. Rural sites can’t always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.

Every site is different, so we price each one individually. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.

What you get with us

Your questions about AHU cleaning in Weston-on-the-Green

Do you work at weekends in Weston-on-the-Green?

Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. The site is handed back ready to open. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Can you get to a site in Weston-on-the-Green?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Weston-on-the-Green included. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Duct Doctor is fully insured, and the details are available on request.

How much notice do you need?

Earlier is better, especially for out-of-hours work. We typically quote within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.

How long does an AHU clean take?

Cleaning takes one overnight shift for many single units, with bigger plant phased. Bigger units can be phased, so ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line to talk it through.

What is TR19?

It’s the industry benchmark for cleaning ventilation and kitchen extract systems, written by BESA. It covers how systems are inspected, cleaned and checked and expects a risk-based approach.

Can you quote from pictures?

Often, yes. Photos of the system and the access, plus your opening hours and last report, are often enough. Larger or hidden systems need a survey on site first.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes, always. We diagnose before we treat: the survey shows what needs doing and what access we need and the fixed quote is built on it.

Different parts, different methods

Fans and fan sections

The fan moves all of the unit’s air, so dirt on it gets spread around. We clean the impeller, housing and surrounding section.

Filters

Filter condition tells you a lot about the rest of the unit. We photograph them for the report.

When something else is needed

It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:

  • Breakdowns that need a mechanical engineer
  • Problems with the unit’s controls or sensors
  • Coils that are corroded or leaking and need replacing

If in doubt, call 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will say what we think before you book.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Drain trays
  • Filter sections
  • Heating and cooling coils
  • Supply and extract fans
  • Dampers and louvres
  • Internal panels

What happens on the day

There’s very little for your team to do on the day. Someone lets us in at the agreed time and shows us where everything is, and we take it from there. Before we leave, the area is tidied and the paperwork follows. Somewhere as small as Weston-on-the-Green, the date and timings are agreed with you well before the day.

  1. First the unit is surveyed, from pictures or a visit, and the scope agreed.
  2. The unit is shut down with your site team and the area protected.
  3. Filters are dealt with as agreed, and the coils, fan and casing cleaned.
  4. We clean out the drain tray and make sure it drains.
  5. A TR19® certificate and photo report follow the clean.

How to prepare

  • Tell us where we can park and unload
  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
  • Clear loose items from the work area

How to get a quote

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before we start.
