Air handling unit cleaning in The Stocks, Kent
Our technicians work in The Stocks on cleaning of air handling units, including filters, coils, drain trays, fans and internal surfaces. Out-of-hours visits, a fixed quote and a written report with photos as standard.
- Odours coming through the supply air
- Dirty filters cutting the airflow
- Air handling units due a clean after building work
AHU cleaning in The Stocks
Think of an AHU clean as a full check-up for the ventilation. We look inside each section, clean what we find and record it with photos, so the report shows exactly what was done. If you’re dealing with filters that are clogged or overdue and rooms that smell stuffy when the system runs, we can put it right, from filter sections, dampers and louvres and supply and extract fans onwards.
In rural areas, ventilation units are often in roof voids or outbuildings, where filters and drain trays get forgotten.
The report is your system’s health record: a dated account with photos of everything we did. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal and sits alongside the report.

Why it’s worth doing now in The Stocks
A clean unit feeds cleaner air into the ductwork, so the whole system stays cleaner for longer. It also means the next inspection has less to find. It’s simpler to plan the work at The Stocks now than to arrange it in a hurry later.
One small site or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before any work starts.
Why choose Duct Doctor in The Stocks
- A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London
- We’re fully insured
- Accredited under CHAS and SafeContractor, with ISO 9001
- Survey first, then a fixed quote
Read our cost guide or how to check a contractor.
How we price AHU cleaning
The diagnosis comes before the price. We look at:
- Travel, parking and unloading
- Whether several sites go on one quote
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- The times the site is available
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Problems in a system tend to grow, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you’re not sure what’s needed, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form for straight advice and a fixed quote.
What to send for a quote
What to send for a quote:
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
- The postcode and the type of business
- Your last certificate, test record or report
Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.
The Stocks questions
Do you cover smaller places like The Stocks?
Yes, The Stocks is part of our area, however small the site. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
Can you come to The Stocks after we close?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. The site is handed back ready to open. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we will book within them.
How much notice should we give?
For planned work, earlier is better, especially if the next clean or test is due soon. Emergencies are different, because our line is open 24/7.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We carry full insurance and have been trading since 2009.
Can you set up regular visits?
Yes. Scheduled maintenance plans are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system needs. Each report recommends when the next visit should be.
Do you repair air handling units?
We clean the unit and flag faults rather than repair them, with pictures where it helps.
Where does the waste go?
It’s contained and taken away. We collect grease, debris and waste water as we go rather than letting it spread.
What types of premises do you cover?
Any site with a kitchen or a ventilation system to look after, from a single café to a large school. Hotels, schools, care homes, offices, shops and leisure sites are all part of our work.
What AHU cleaning cannot fix
In fairness, there are a few things this work won’t fix:
- Airflow problems caused by the system’s design
- Mechanical faults with motors, belts or bearings
- Controls and BMS settings that run the unit
If in doubt, call 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will say what we think before you book.
What the work covers
- Drain trays
- Internal panels
- Dampers and louvres
- Supply and extract fans
- Heating and cooling coils
- Filter sections
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.
Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
How it works
A visit follows the same order every time: protect the area, make the system safe, do the work, clear away and hand over the paperwork. The visit itself takes half a day to a full day per unit, with large plant planned over several shifts. Photos of the system and how to reach it help us plan a visit to The Stocks.
- We agree a shutdown window that suits the building.
- Before cleaning, each section is photographed.
- We work through the unit from the intake to the outlet.
- The fan and drain tray are cleaned and the drain checked.
- After photos are taken and the certificate issued.
Getting ready for the visit
- Move anything stored near the system
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Arrange a key holder or contact on site
Getting a quote
To help us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, a few pictures and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.
Advice
Multi-site and managed buildings
We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare in The Stocks and across Kent. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.
From a single site to a large estate, the standard is the same: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.
Part by part
Filters
Clogged filters reduce airflow, and dirt can get round the edges. We clean the frames and rails so the filters sit tight.
Internal casing and panels
Access doors and panels are opened in turn and closed properly afterwards, and check every one is shut.
