Stocker's Head AHU cleaning
AHU cleaning in Stocker's Head from ventilation hygiene specialists trading since 2009. Out-of-hours visits and 24/7 emergency callout.
- Air handling units with blocked filters
- Intake sections clogged with outdoor debris
- Coils clogged with dust and debris
How we handle AHU cleaning in Stocker's Head
Coils are where a lot of the dirt ends up. A coated coil restricts airflow and makes the unit work harder. We clean coils with methods suited to their condition, taking care not to damage the fins. The work covers filter sections, heating and cooling coils and internal panels, and people most often call us about units that have only ever had filter changes and stale or musty smells from the ventilation.
In rural areas, ventilation units are often in roof voids or outbuildings, where filters and drain trays get forgotten.
Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

Yes, both a certificate and a report with pictures. The report also suggests when the unit should next be inspected.
What is TR19?
BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extract systems and TR19® Air for general ventilation. It is not legislation, but it’s the standard people check against.
Where does the waste go?
It’s contained and taken away. Grease, debris and waste water are collected as the work goes on, so it does not spread.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a fan failure or damage after a fire, ring the 24/7 line, and we will advise on what to do next.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Duct Doctor is fully insured, and the details are available on request.
How do you keep the site clean during the work?
By covering it before any work starts. We keep the work contained and clean down when we finish.
Looking after it afterwards
A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. We recommend:
- Clear leaves and litter away from the intake
- Change filters on schedule and log each change
- File each AHU report in the maintenance log
- Flag stale or damp smells in the supply air
When we have closed the unit up, it can be restarted with your site team. Check the drain tray is emptying over the first few days to confirm water is draining away.
Regular filter changes are the best protection an AHU has. Once filters clog, dirt starts getting past them.
How the visit works
The visit has three parts: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, and the sign-off is a written report with photos. Most of the time goes on the work itself, which takes half a day to a full day per unit, with large plant planned over several shifts. Seeing the system in photos first means the trip to Stocker's Head can be planned properly.
- We look at the unit and the plant area during the survey.
- We sheet the area and the unit is isolated.
- Each section is cleaned of dust, debris and slime.
- Coils and trays are cleaned and the condensate drain cleared.
- The unit is closed up and handed back, with a report to follow.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in

Advice
What the work involves, part by part
Rooftop and plant room units
Ceiling-mounted and compact units are cleaned too. We protect the area below before opening them.
Drain trays
Standing water in a tray sits right where the air passes. We clean it and note if the slope or the drain needs attention.
Do you need AHU cleaning in Stocker's Head?
Dirt in an AHU matters in two ways: air quality, since the unit feeds occupied rooms, and performance, since dirt makes it strain. For anyone working, learning or staying in a building in Stocker's Head, that is air they breathe for hours at a time.
Keep an eye out for these warning signs:
- Leaves and litter drawn into the unit
- Dirty coils holding back the airflow
- Dirty filters cutting the airflow
- Odours coming through the supply air
School buildings such as Charing Church of England Primary School are typically done in the holidays, so classrooms are not disturbed.
Questions to ask before booking
- What happens if part of the system cannot be accessed
- Whether VAT is included
- Proof of insurance

What affects the cost of AHU cleaning
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
- Where the site is and how we reach it
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Problems in a system tend to grow, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you are not sure what’s needed, call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will give you an honest view and a fixed quote.
What we need to know
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
Want a quote for AHU cleaning? Please give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos with a few details about the site. We will explain what we’d do and send a fixed quote before anything is booked.
Honest limits
We’ll always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what this work can’t put right:
- Problems with the unit’s controls or sensors
- Mechanical faults with motors, belts or bearings
- Ductwork downstream of the unit, which is a separate clean
If you are not sure, just ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What your team can do, and what needs us
Staff cleaning does not replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
