AHU cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Paddock
Coils are where a lot of the dirt ends up. A coated coil restricts airflow and makes the unit work harder. We clean coils with methods suited to their condition, taking care not to damage the fins. If you have plant that needs cleaning after a refit and dirty fans and fan housings, we can help, from drain trays, dampers and louvres and heating and cooling coils onwards.
In rural areas, ventilation units are often in roof voids or outbuildings, which makes them easy to overlook.
Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

Part by part
Fans and fan sections
Every bit of air passes the fan, so a dirty fan sends dirt downstream. We clean the impeller, housing and surrounding section.
Internal casing and panels
Dust settles on every internal surface of the unit. We clean each section from intake to discharge.
What AHU cleaning can’t fix
We’d rather tell you now than book work that will not help, so here are the limits:
- Building management system faults
- Mechanical faults with motors, belts or bearings
- Leaking heating or cooling coils
If in doubt, call us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll say what we think before booking.
Parts of the system we cover
- Supply and extract fans
- Drain trays
- Internal panels
- Filter sections
- Dampers and louvres
- Heating and cooling coils
How it works
The first job on site is protection: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. Then we make the system safe and start. It takes a single shift for a typical unit, longer for large or heavily soiled ones, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Paddock before we set off.
- We look at the unit and the plant area during the survey.
- We sheet the area and the unit is isolated.
- Each section is cleaned of dust, debris and slime.
- We clean the coils and clear the tray and drain.
- The unit is closed up and handed back, with a report to follow.
Before we arrive
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Move anything stored near the system
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. Then we send a fixed price, before any work starts.

Common problems we fix in Paddock
Planned maintenance often covers belts, motors and filters but not cleaning. That means a unit can tick every service box and still be carrying years of dirt.
Any of these means the system needs a check-up:
- Condensate trays that won’t empty
- Air handling units due a clean after building work
- Air handling units with blocked filters
- Stale or musty smells from the ventilation
Healthcare ventilation, from large hospitals like William Harvey Hospital (about 5.8 miles south-east) to small clinics, depends on clean filters, coils and ducts.
What your quote should include
- Whether inaccessible sections are listed on the report
- How they set the interval to the next visit
- Whether they’re fully insured
- Whether the price is fixed

FAQs for Paddock
Can you work in Paddock outside opening hours?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. Your customers, staff or residents in Paddock needn’t be disturbed. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we will book within them.
Is Paddock within the area you cover?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Paddock included. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line, and we’ll advise on what to do next.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. One number covers all your sites across London and the South East, with visits on a regular schedule.
Do you repair air handling units?
The clean includes noting faults, but repairs sit with your maintenance contractor, with photos where it helps.
What happens if you cannot reach some of it?
We never leave them off the paperwork. You’ll know exactly which parts weren’t reached and why, along with a quote to put access in.
What accreditations do you have?
Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.
Do you need to switch the unit off?
Yes, while the clean is under way. Out-of-hours work is available to keep disruption down.
What staff can safely do
Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, alongside our reports.
If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that won’t come clean, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We will take a look and give you a fixed quote.
Why act early in Paddock
Leave an AHU uncleaned and the dirt doesn’t stay put. It’s carried through the ductwork and out of the grilles, so cleaning the ducts without the unit only goes so far. A fault that closes a site in a village like Paddock affects everyone who depends on it.
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before work begins.
Why choose Duct Doctor in Paddock
- A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London
- Full insurance on every job

Multi-site and managed buildings
Whether it’s one building or many, the standard is the same: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with photos.
Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.
