Need AHU cleaning in Northolt?

AHU cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Northolt

An AHU clean is a thorough examination and treatment of the unit. Every section is opened, cleaned and photographed, so the report shows exactly what was done. Common call-outs are for rooms that smell stuffy when the system runs and plant that needs cleaning after a refit, on supply and extract fans, internal panels and drain trays.

Across London, offices, hotels, schools and healthcare buildings rely on mechanical ventilation, much of it supplied through air handling units on roofs or in basements. For a building in Northolt, dust settles in the units and ducts year after year, which is what TR19® Air cleaning deals with.

We’ve been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

FAQs for Northolt

Is parking a problem for work in Northolt?

A loading bay, a visitor permit or off-street space near the site in Northolt makes the visit easier to plan. Where restrictions apply in the day, an evening or overnight visit typically gets round them.

Can you work in Northolt outside opening hours?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. That way a site in Northolt doesn’t have to lose a day’s trading. Let us know the hours you are closed and we’ll book within them.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

Floors and surfaces near the work are sheeted before we start, and anything we remove is contained. Before we leave, we tidy up and clean down.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and you will get one fixed quote.

How long does an AHU clean take?

Cleaning takes one overnight shift for many single units, with bigger plant phased. Large plant can be split over several shifts, so phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos to talk it through.

What do you need from me for a quote?

A short description and a few photos, with the address and opening hours. We will ask for anything else we need.

Can you quote from pictures?

In many cases, yes. With good photos, the site type and your last report, we can price many jobs. Where we cannot see enough, we arrange a survey.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We’re fully insured, and we can share the details when you need them.

What we do, step by step

Protection comes first: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. Then we make the system safe and start. It takes from a few hours for a compact unit to a day or more for a large one, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. Most London sites can’t stop for the day, so work in Northolt is normally done overnight, early in the morning or at weekends.

  1. First we agree when the unit can be switched off, including evenings or weekends.
  2. Before cleaning, each section is photographed.
  3. We work through the unit from the intake to the outlet.
  4. We finish with the fan section and the drain tray.
  5. After pictures are taken and the certificate issued.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Find the previous report, if there is one
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas

Ask for a quote

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before we start.

Aftercare tips

To keep the system working properly between visits:

  • Look at the condensate drain whenever the unit is serviced
  • Note any water around the unit or leaks below it
  • Report musty smells from the vents right away
  • Keep the certificate and photo report with the plant records

Stick to the filter change schedule, because good filters protect everything downstream. Log every change so it’s easy to see when the next is due.

Regular filter changes are the best protection an AHU has. Once filters clog, dirt starts getting past them.

Leave it or put it right?

Facilities teams are often asked for evidence that the ventilation is looked after. A TR19® certificate and photo report give you that, ready to show anyone who asks. In Northolt, as across London, ductwork often passes through shared risers and other people’s space.

Combining work into one visit or one programme often makes better use of the time. Mention every system or site you need covered and we will price it together.

What staff can safely do

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.

Ventilation in Northolt buildings

The FSA’s food hygiene register lists about 40 schools, colleges and universities and about 51 caring premises (care homes, nurseries and hospitals) with registered kitchens or food service in Northolt and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Classrooms, bedrooms and care spaces are often served by ducted air, and that ductwork collects dust over time. About 2 miles north-east of Northolt is Clementine Churchill Hospital, the nearest hospital. Healthcare ventilation is a good example of why supply ducts need inspecting: the air goes straight to patients. Many London buildings have had their ductwork altered through several fit-outs, so an inspection comes first.

If you manage a school such as Willow Tree Primary School, ventilation cleaning is best booked for the holidays. Healthcare buildings such as Clementine Churchill Hospital, about 2 miles north-east, depend on their ventilation; if you manage a surgery, clinic or care home near Northolt, yours matters too.

Northolt is about 2 miles south-west of Harrow, in Greater London. We provide AHU cleaning for commercial premises of every kind in Northolt and the rest of Greater London. Northolt is one of 764 places in Greater London where we work for commercial clients. We also work in London, around 12 miles away.

Postcode districts we cover here for AHU cleaning: UB5 and UB6. If you need AHU cleaning at premises on Church Road, Eastcote Lane North and Tenby Gardens or anywhere close by, we can help. We also cover South Ruislip (1 mile north-west), Greenford (1 mile south-east), South Harrow (1 mile north-east), Yeading (2 miles south-west) and Yiewsley (2 miles south-west). Within a short drive, we also cover London (12 miles east), City of Westminster (10 miles east), Marylebone (10 miles east), Kensington (8 miles south-east), St Pancras (11 miles east) and Shoreditch (13 miles east).

How the job changes from site to site

Rooftop and plant room units

Units on roofs and in plant rooms can be awkward to reach. Access is planned during the survey so the quote reflects it.

Heating and cooling coils

Heating and cooling coils have tightly packed fins that trap fine dust. We clean them with care so the fins aren’t damaged.

Common problems we fix in Northolt

Filters catch most of the dust, but not all of it. What gets through settles on coils, fans and the inside of the casing, a little more each month.

It’s time to book a visit if you see:

  • Odours coming through the supply air
  • Coils clogged with dust and debris
  • Units that have only ever had filter changes
  • Units needing a clean before a new tenant or handover

Workplaces around Northolt Park station with an air handling unit need the filters, coils and drain tray looked at, as well as the ducts.

What to look for in a quote

  • If they look at the system before pricing
  • When they can work, and whether that is outside your opening hours
  • Whether VAT is included
  • When the next visit should be, and why
