TR19 inspection across Rock

What we do, step by step

We’re used to working while the site is closed. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes anything from an hour for a small canopy and short duct to a good part of a day for a large site. The timing of a visit to Rock is set by you, and the travel is our side of the planning.

  1. After the clean, we arrange a time to check the system.
  2. The same access points are opened up.
  3. We repeat the WFTT or DTT readings.
  4. Photos are taken to show the condition after the clean.
  5. We report the findings and flag any areas that need more work.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Clear the space around the work
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool

Getting a quote

Getting a quote does not take long. Call or email with a few details and you will usually have a fixed price within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.

TR19 inspection in Rock, done properly

Before any clean in Rock, we survey the canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, fan and discharge. We check where the access panels are and whether every section can be reached, and record grease readings at set points. The work covers deposit thickness tests, insurer audits and wet film thickness tests, and common reasons people get in touch are ductwork where grease may be over the TR19 limits and kitchens whose menu or hours have changed.

Somewhere as small as Rock, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a written report, dated and illustrated with pictures, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

Leave it or put it right?

An EHO visit, an insurance renewal or a fire risk assessment is a bad time to find your extract records are thin. A recent inspection report means you are ready when asked. A planned visit to Rock is easier to arrange than an emergency callout.

Several systems or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we’ll price it together.

When to call us in Rock

Records can go missing when a business changes hands or contractors. With no history, the current state of the extract is a guess.

Clients usually contact us when they notice something like this:

  • Kitchens taken over with no cleaning records
  • Confirming a clean reached the whole system
  • Systems that need surveying before cleaning
  • Sections of duct that can’t be reached

If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near The Parish Church of St Mary or elsewhere in Rock, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach
  • What insurance they carry
  • If the quote is a fixed price or an estimate
  • Whether a written report and photos are included

How to choose an extract cleaning contractor

What staff can safely do

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.

A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. That is our job.

Looking after it afterwards

No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. A few tips:

  • Keep canopy edges and gutters wiped down
  • Flag oily drips near the extract
  • Book the next test on the date in the report
  • Do not box in or cover duct access panels

For an insurer audit, send them the report as it is, with readings, pictures and any areas not accessible.

Fit access panels where the survey finds sections can’t be reached, so grease is not left building in hidden parts.

TR19 inspection around Rock

Food hygiene inspections in Rock are the job of Horsham council’s environmental health team. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector. Rock is about 43 miles from central London, well within the area we cover across London and the South East. The visit is fixed around your opening hours, not ours.

If you run catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Parham House is about 3.9 miles west), event kitchens in older buildings often have awkward duct runs that need planning. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as St Mary's CofE Primary School or anywhere near Rock, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean.

Rock is about 6 miles north of Worthing, in West Sussex. Across the RH20 area, we cover TR19 inspection for commercial sites. Across West Sussex, we cover 371 places, and Rock is one of them. For sites nearby, see our Brighton page, about 13 miles away.

TR19 inspection in RH20 follows the same survey, fixed quote and written report as everywhere else we cover. That includes premises on Old London Road, London Road and Lamorna Close and nearby roads. Neighbouring places we cover for TR19 inspection include Washington (1 mile south), Heath Common (1 mile north-west), Sullington (1 mile west), Warminghurst (2 miles north) and Storrington (2 miles west). Larger places within reach include Horsham (11 miles north), Worthing (6 miles south), Bognor Regis (15 miles south-west), Haywards Heath (15 miles north-east), Burgess Hill (12 miles east) and Littlehampton (9 miles south-west).

Rock questions

Will you come out to Rock?

Yes, Rock is part of our area, however small the site. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Who is the fire and rescue service for Rock?

That’s West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line and we will talk you through the next steps.

Can the work be done while we’re closed?

Yes, and that’s how we prefer to work. We book the visit for when the area is out of use, whether that is late evening, overnight or a weekend.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, to suit the system and how it’s used.

Can you price the work without visiting?

Yes, if we can see what we need. Otherwise, we book a survey at a time that suits the site, and the quote follows that.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Just the basics: where it is, what kind of site, when it’s open and the access. Photos and the last report help too. After that, simply give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us.

At what point does grease need cleaning?

Under TR19® Grease, the mean thickness should not exceed 200 microns between cleans. Any reading of 500 microns or more needs immediate spot cleaning.

Different parts, different methods

Schools, hospitals and care homes

Inspections are planned around mealtimes and holidays so meals are not affected.

Extract fan and discharge

A greasy fan works harder and wears faster. Readings show if it needs attention before the next clean.

What affects the quote in Rock

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • The condition of the system
  • Any permits to work or inductions
  • Whether several sites go on one quote

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Call for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

What we need to know

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • The postcode and the type of business

If you need TR19 inspection in Rock, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email. Let us know the site type and the opening hours, and send photos or your last report if you can. A fixed quote normally follows within one working day.
