How the job changes from site to site
Hospitals and care homes
People in hospitals and care homes can be more vulnerable to poor air. Inspecting and cleaning to TR19® Air supports good air quality.
Extract ductwork
Extract fans pull air through these ducts, so a blocked duct strains them. Clearing the duct helps the fan do its job.
About our ventilation duct cleaning in Rochester
Every clean ends with a TR19® certificate and a photo report. The report lists what we cleaned, any sections not reached and a recommended next inspection, giving the ventilation a clean bill of health on paper. If you have toilet and washroom extracts full of fluff and damp or stale smells from grilles, we can put it right.
In Rochester, ventilation in schools and offices is cleaned when the building is quiet: evenings, weekends or school holidays.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.
Rochester buildings and their air
There are about 18 schools, colleges and universities, about 37 caring premises (care homes, nurseries and hospitals) and about 6 hotels, B&Bs and guest houses on the FSA’s food hygiene register in Rochester and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Many buildings of this kind have supply and extract ductwork that gathers dust and needs inspecting. At about 27 miles from central London, Rochester sits well inside the area we cover. Evening, overnight and weekend visits are all possible. For Rochester, the closest hospital is French Hospital, roughly under half a mile south-east. Healthcare ventilation is a good example of why supply ducts need inspecting: the air goes straight to patients.
If you manage a school such as Rochester Riverside Church of England Primary School, ventilation cleaning is best booked for the holidays. For workplaces around Rochester station with mechanical ventilation, cleaning can be done in the evening or at weekends.

Rochester: your questions answered
Can you work in Rochester outside opening hours?
Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. Your customers, staff or residents in Rochester needn’t be disturbed. Just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line with your opening times and we will plan around them.
Do you offer ventilation duct cleaning in Rochester?
Yes. Our area runs across London and the South East, Rochester included. To start, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with a few photos of the system.
How does TR19 Air differ from TR19 Grease?
The two cover different systems: general ventilation for TR19® Air and kitchen extract for TR19® Grease. TR19® Air takes an inspection-led, risk-based approach.
Do we need to close while you work?
Not normally. The area we’re working in has to be out of use while we’re there, so the visit goes in a quiet slot.
What if there aren’t enough access panels?
We clean what we can reach and note the rest. Fitting access panels tends to be the answer, and we can quote for them.
How much does ventilation duct cleaning cost in Rochester?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how big it is, what state it’s in, how we reach it and the working hours. You get a fixed price before we start.
Do you survey the system first?
Yes. Inspection is the start of the TR19® Air approach and record what we find. We recommend cleaning where the inspection shows it’s due.
Are you fully insured?
Yes, we’re fully insured. CHAS and SafeContractor accreditation sit alongside it, for sites that check contractor safety.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
What affects the quote in Rochester
The diagnosis comes before the price. We look at:
- How big the system is
- A single visit or a regular plan
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- Whether several sites go on one quote
You won’t find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed quote, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email, and we will talk you through it.
Helping us quote
When you call or email, these details help:
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
- Your last certificate, test record or report
- A few general shots of the system
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in photos, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before we start.
Honest limits
Not every problem is solved by ventilation duct cleaning, and we will tell you before any work starts. It won’t put right:
- Damp or mould problems coming from the building fabric
- Problems with how the system is controlled
- Grease in kitchen extract systems, cleaned to TR19® Grease instead
Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.
What we work on in Rochester
- General extract ductwork
- Supply ductwork
- Grilles and diffusers
- Offices and schools
- Toilet extract systems
- Hospitals and care homes
What happens if it’s left?
After building work, cleaning the ventilation before people move back in makes sense. Otherwise the dust from the works comes out of the grilles once it’s switched back on. A fresh certificate on file is the best thing to have when someone asks to see your records.
Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll go through it with you.

What we do, step by step
There are three stages on the day: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, while signing off means the written report and pictures. The middle part takes longest, which takes from one overnight visit to a phased programme over several weeks. A few pictures of the system and its access points help us plan a visit in Rochester.
- We survey the system from drawings, photos or a site visit.
- Inspection comes next, with photos of the inside of the ducts.
- We protect the rooms beneath and switch the system off.
- Dust and debris are removed from ducts, grilles and diffusers.
- We issue a TR19® certificate and a photo report listing what was cleaned.
How to prepare
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
How to get a quote
We do not publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from photos or on a visit, and then give you a fixed quote. To start, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

Signs you need ventilation duct cleaning in Rochester
It matters for the people inside: dusty ducts can blow debris back into rooms, restrict airflow and make fans work harder. In hospitals, care homes and schools, clean air is especially important.
These are the problems we see most often:
- Dirty diffusers dropping dust into rooms
- Duct runs that cannot be reached for cleaning
- Systems with no record of inspection or cleaning
- Stuffy rooms and stale air
Healthcare buildings such as French Hospital, about under half a mile south-east, depend on their ventilation; if you manage a surgery, clinic or care home near Rochester, yours matters too.
What to look for in a quote
- Whether they recommend a next date
- Proof of accreditation you can verify
- Whether a written report and pictures are included
- When they can work, and whether that’s outside your opening hours
