Ventilation duct cleaning in Printstile

Ventilation duct cleaning in Printstile, done properly

We always start by inspecting. We look inside the ductwork at set points and record what’s there, then recommend cleaning where it’s needed. That keeps the work in proportion to the risk. If you have duct runs that can’t be reached for cleaning and ducts that need a clean before handover, we can help.

Somewhere as small as Printstile, ducted ventilation is normally limited to a school, a care home, a surgery or a converted business building, wherever there is one, but where it’s fitted, it needs the same inspection and cleaning as anywhere.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’ve been trading since 2009.

Aftercare tips

A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. We recommend:

  • Report dust blowing from grilles right away
  • Keep grilles and diffusers dusted
  • Don’t run the ventilation while builders are sanding or cutting
  • Keep the TR19 certificate and photo report in the maintenance log

Before any works, think about the ducts. Switch it off or cover the grilles while dusty work goes on.

Do not let construction dust into the ventilation by switching it off or covering the grilles.

When something else is needed

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Leaking or broken duct sections
  • A system that isn’t designed to move enough air
  • Leaks from roofs, pipes or walls into the ductwork

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll tell you honestly.

Parts of the system we cover

Printstile questions

Is Printstile within the area you cover?

Yes, Printstile is part of our area, however small the site. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.

Do you do school ventilation cleaning in Printstile in the summer holidays?

Yes. The holidays are the usual time for school work. There are about 4 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Printstile. Send us your term dates when you give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email, and we’ll fit the work in.

Do you clean grilles and diffusers?

Yes, together with the ductwork. You will see them in the before and after photos.

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Yes, 24/7. Our office is open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays, and the emergency line covers the rest.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Full insurance covers our work and have been trading since 2009.

Can one contract cover all our sites?

Yes. You deal with one contact for every site across London and the South East, and visits can be set on a regular cycle.

What about areas you cannot get to?

We record them on the report, with a note of where it is, and we explain what access is needed, for example new access panels.

How often do ventilation ducts need cleaning?

TR19® Air is risk-based, so cleaning follows inspection rather than a fixed calendar. Each report recommends when the system should next be inspected.

Leave it or put it right?

Smells, dust around grilles and stuffy rooms are signs the system needs attention. Acting early keeps the clean simpler. Rural sites can’t always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.

When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

What we are called out for in Printstile

Planned maintenance tends to focus on fans and filters, not the ducts. A building in Printstile can have well-serviced plant and dirty ductwork at the same time.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Grilles and diffusers streaked with dirt
  • Musty smells from the ventilation
  • Ductwork never cleaned since it was installed
  • Construction dust left in ducts after a refit

Healthcare ventilation, from large hospitals like Tonbridge Cottage Hospital (about 2.6 miles east) to small clinics, depends on clean filters, coils and ducts.

Multi-site and managed buildings

From a single site to a large estate, the standard is the same: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with photos.

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.

Ventilation in Printstile buildings

There are about 4 schools, colleges and universities and about 4 hospitals, care homes and childcare premises on the FSA’s food hygiene register within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Printstile. Where buildings like these have air handling units, filters, coils and drain trays need regular attention. About 2.6 miles east of Printstile is Tonbridge Cottage Hospital, the nearest hospital. Clean air matters most where people are unwell, and that’s as true in a care home as in a hospital. At about 26 miles from central London, Printstile sits well inside the area we cover. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, so the visit fits around the site.

School buildings such as St Gregory's Catholic School are typically done in the holidays, so classrooms aren’t disturbed.

What your team can do, and what needs us

Some jobs should never be done in-house: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. That’s our job.

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

How it works

Each visit runs to the same pattern: protect the area, isolate whatever needs isolating, do the work, clear away and hand over the paperwork. On site, the work takes a weekend for a modest system, with large buildings phased floor by floor. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Printstile and turn up when the site is quiet.

  1. We agree timings that suit the building, including evenings and weekends.
  2. We open the ductwork through its access panels.
  3. We photograph the ducts, then clean each section in turn.
  4. Grilles and diffusers are cleaned and refitted.
  5. We take after pictures and send the certificate and report.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
  • Find the previous report, if there is one
  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
