Ventilation duct cleaning in Heart's Delight

What the work involves, part by part

Extract ductwork

Extract ducts take air out of toilets, washrooms and general areas. They collect dust, lint and fibres and slowly narrow.

Offices and retail

Multi-let buildings may share ductwork between tenants. Access is agreed with the building manager.

Ventilation duct cleaning in Heart's Delight

Supply ducts carry air into the rooms and extract ducts take it away. Dust and debris build up in both, and some of it is blown back into the building. Our cleaning covers the ducts, grilles and diffusers, to TR19® Air. If you have extract ducts clogged with lint and dust and ductwork that hasn’t been inspected, we can help.

In rural areas, ventilation units are often in roof voids or outbuildings, where filters and drain trays get forgotten.

Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

How we price ventilation duct cleaning

The diagnosis comes before the price. The main factors are:

  • What state the system is in
  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
  • The scale of the work
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends

Several systems or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Mention every system or site you need covered and we will price it together.

What to send for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • A few general shots of the system
  • The site address and the type of premises

Need a price for ventilation duct cleaning? Please call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and tell us about the site. We will talk you through the work and send you a fixed quote before anything is booked.

What we’re called out for in Heart's Delight

Most ductwork is out of sight, so dust collects unseen. Grilles may be wiped, but the ducts behind them rarely are.

These are the problems we see most often:

  • Systems missing access panels
  • Ductwork that hasn’t been inspected
  • Odours carried round the building by the ducts
  • Toilet and washroom extracts full of fluff

For schools like Barham Church of England Primary School, the holidays are the usual time to inspect and clean ventilation.

Questions to ask before booking

What staff can safely do

Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

What ventilation duct cleaning can’t fix

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Building management settings that run the plant
  • Kitchen extract ductwork, which needs a TR19® Grease clean
  • Condensation caused by the building rather than the ducts

Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll tell you honestly.

How it works

There are three stages on the day: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, while signing off means the written report and photos. The middle part takes longest, which takes a shift or two for a small system, longer for a whole building. Somewhere as small as Heart's Delight, the date and timings are agreed with you well before the day.

  1. We agree timings that suit the building, including evenings and weekends.
  2. Access panels are opened along each run.
  3. Before pictures are taken and the ducts cleaned section by section.
  4. Grilles and diffusers are cleaned and refitted.
  5. We take after pictures and send the certificate and report.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
  • Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time

Questions from Heart's Delight

Can the work in Heart's Delight be done at night or at weekends?

Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. The site is handed back ready to open. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

Can you clean school ventilation in Heart's Delight during the holidays?

Yes. The holidays are the usual time for school work. With about 2 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of Heart's Delight, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. Tell us your holiday dates and we will book the visit for when the site is empty.

Which sectors do you work in?

All kinds of commercial and public premises: kitchens, offices, schools, healthcare, retail, leisure and food production. Work is timed around how each site runs.

What should I send you?

The site address, the type of premises and your opening hours, plus pictures of the system and your last certificate or report if you have one.

Do you provide a report?

Yes, a TR19® certificate and photos. It also notes unreached sections and a recommended next inspection.

Which accreditations do you hold?

Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

Can you price the work without visiting?

In many cases, yes. Photos of the system and the access, plus your opening hours and last report, are often enough. Where we cannot see enough, we arrange a survey.

How often do ventilation ducts need cleaning?

TR19® Air is risk-based, so cleaning follows inspection rather than a fixed calendar. We suggest a next inspection date after every visit.
