TR19 inspections in Stotfold
TR19 inspection for Stotfold and the surrounding area: a survey, a fixed price, careful work and proper paperwork. Call for a fixed quote.
- An insurer’s request for a TR19 audit
- Checking the result of a recent clean
- Surveys needed before quoting a full clean
Multi-site and managed buildings
If you look after several sites, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so records stay tidy.
Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.
TR19 inspection for kitchens and businesses in Stotfold
Not every kitchen fits neatly into a calendar. Some kitchens build up grease faster than the minimum intervals assume, which is why measurement matters. Our readings give your risk assessment real numbers to work from. If you have pre-clean surveys before a first TR19 clean and post-clean verification after another contractor’s clean, we can put it right, from deposit thickness tests, post-clean checks and insurer audits onwards.
In a smaller place like Stotfold, the kitchens with extract systems are more likely to be a pub, a café, a takeaway or a school or care home kitchen than a big restaurant. Quieter kitchens still collect grease in the duct, just more slowly, so cleaning is planned around how much it cooks and what the readings show.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.

Stotfold questions
Do you clean school canteen extracts around Stotfold out of term?
Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. There are about 7 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Stotfold. Booking early in the term gives the best choice of holiday dates.
Do you cover smaller places like Stotfold?
Yes, Stotfold is part of our area, however small the site. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line for anything that can’t wait until a planned visit. Ring any time and tell us what’s happened.
Can you verify a clean after it’s been done?
A post-clean check records grease readings and pictures after the work, for our cleans and other firms’ alike.
How often should a kitchen extract be inspected?
Each report recommends when to test and clean next, based on the readings and how the kitchen is used. The interval should come from a competent person’s risk assessment backed by grease measurement.
How far ahead should we book?
That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and for anything urgent, ring our 24/7 emergency line.
Can one contract cover all our sites?
Yes. Tell us the addresses and what each needs and you’ll get one fixed quote.
What do the grease readings need to be?
TR19® Grease says grease should not go over a mean of 200 microns between cleans. 500 microns or more at any point calls for immediate spot cleaning.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.
Grease, kitchens and Stotfold
The FSA’s food hygiene register includes about 5 pubs and bars within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Stotfold. Breakfasts, bar meals and functions all put grease into the extract wherever they’re cooked. Kitchens in Stotfold get their food hygiene inspections from Central Bedfordshire council. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. Stotfold is covered by Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract.
Where a hall near Church of St Mary the Virgin, or anywhere in Stotfold, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does. If your kitchen is in a listed or historic building, like the houses around Stotfold (Hinxworth Place is about 2.4 miles north-east), fitting access panels needs care.

How the job changes from site to site
Schools, hospitals and care homes
In healthcare and care settings, kitchens may run from early until late. Testing shows if the cleaning interval keeps pace.
Restaurants, pubs and hotels
Inspections are done when the kitchen is closed or quiet so the kitchen keeps cooking.
What we are called out for in Stotfold
Looking at a canopy tells you little about what’s in the duct. A system can look clean at the filters and be heavily coated further in, so readings are the reliable guide.
Look out for these warning signs:
- Post-clean verification after another contractor’s clean
- Missing access panels found on survey
- Insurance renewals needing proof of TR19 cleaning
- Kitchens whose menu or hours have changed
If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Fairfield Hospital about 1.1 miles south-west, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.
What your quote should include
- When the next visit should be, and why
- Which accreditations they hold, and whether you can check them
- What happens if part of the system can’t be accessed
- What insurance they carry
What happens if it’s left?
Without readings, you’re guessing when to clean. Any reading of 500 microns or more needs immediate spot cleaning under TR19® Grease, and you can only act on that if you’ve measured it. A quieter site near Stotfold still needs its system looked after.
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, which can make the next visit longer. If you are unsure, call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

How the visit works
The first job on site is protection: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. Then we make the system safe and start. The work on site takes a couple of hours for a typical kitchen extract system, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. For a place like Stotfold, we load the van from the survey notes so the work can be done in one visit where possible.
- We agree a time when the kitchen is closed or quiet.
- We look over the canopy, plenum, ducts, fan and discharge.
- Grease readings are taken at set points using WFTT or DTT.
- Each test point and any access problems are photographed.
- We send a report setting out the readings, pictures and next steps.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time

Some systems can be priced from pictures; others need a survey. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in photos, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.
