Slinfold TR19 inspection
TR19 inspections and grease testing for commercial sites in Slinfold and across West Sussex. BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease.
- Sites with gaps in their extract records
- Extracts that have never been grease tested
- Confirming a clean reached the whole system
How we handle TR19 inspection in Slinfold
Before any clean in Slinfold, we survey the canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, fan and discharge. Access is checked along the full length, and record grease readings at set points. The work covers access surveys, insurer audits and deposit thickness tests, and common reasons people get in touch are extracts that may be over the 200 micron mean and systems that need surveying before cleaning.
Work in a small place like Slinfold starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.
We have been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.

How we price TR19 inspection
The survey tells us what the work involves. We look at:
- Site rules, permits and inductions
- The times the site is available
- The scale of the work
- Whether several sites go on one quote
No two sites are the same, so each one gets its own fixed quote. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.
What to send for a quote
When you contact us, it’s useful to have:
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- A few general shots of the system
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in photos, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.
How it works
Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes around an hour or two per canopy and duct system. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Slinfold before we set off.
- First we look at the system’s cleaning history, if there is one.
- We follow the extract from canopy to discharge.
- We note where access panels are and where more are needed.
- We measure the grease and photograph each point.
- We report back with readings and a fixed quote.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
- Have your last certificate or report to hand
- Tell us where we can park and unload
Ask for a quote
There’s no standard price list, because every site is different. Instead, we look at your site first, from photos or a survey, and then give you a fixed quote. To start, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.
Advice
TR19 inspection in Slinfold: the local picture
Slinfold sits within the area of West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. Kitchens in Slinfold get their food hygiene inspections from Horsham council. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.
Bursars and site managers at schools such as Slinfold CofE Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Horsham Hospital about 3.5 miles east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.

Slinfold questions
Can a school canteen extract in Slinfold be done out of term time?
Yes. The holidays are the usual time for school work. Around Slinfold, the Food Standards Agency lists about 2 schools and colleges with registered kitchens within a mile and a half or so. You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form with the dates the site is empty.
Who is the fire and rescue service for Slinfold?
Fire safety enforcement in Slinfold is handled by West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.
Can the work be done while we are closed?
Yes, and that is how we prefer to work. We book the visit for when the area is out of use, such as late evening, overnight or a weekend.
How often should grease be tested?
Often enough to know the mean stays under 200 microns between cleans. If readings rise, the interval should shorten.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line, for problems that cannot wait. Call us any time and explain what’s happened.
Will you produce a report for our insurer?
Yes, for kitchens across the South East and London. Tell us what your insurer has asked for and we’ll set the report out to match.
What grease levels does TR19 allow?
Two figures matter: a mean of no more than 200 microns between cleans, and 500 microns at any single point, which needs immediate spot cleaning. Our report sets your readings against both.
Is Slinfold in your area?
Yes. We work across Greater London, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, Slinfold included.
Signs you need TR19 inspection in Slinfold
Insurers, fire officers and environmental health officers look to TR19® as the benchmark. It is not legislation; the legal duty comes from the Fire Safety Order 2005, under which the responsible person must reduce fire risk, and in a kitchen that means keeping grease under control.
Most sites get in touch after spotting something like this:
- Parts of the system left out of past cleans
- Post-clean verification after another contractor’s clean
- Pre-clean surveys before a first TR19 clean
- Kitchen extract systems with no recent grease readings
Volunteers running a hall kitchen near The Parish Church of St Peter, or anywhere in Slinfold, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether a written report and photos are included
- How they set the interval to the next visit
- Whether VAT is included
- What’s included in the scope, part by part
Honest limits
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- Heavy deposits found on test, which still need cleaning
- Mechanical faults in the extract
- The legal duty, which stays with the responsible person
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll tell you honestly.
Parts of the system we cover
- Access surveys
- Insurer audits
- Post-clean checks
- Pre-clean surveys
- Wet film thickness tests
- Deposit thickness tests
Different parts, different methods
Horizontal duct runs
Grease can gather thickly at bends and along long runs, out of sight of the kitchen.
Restaurants, pubs and hotels
A kitchen running from breakfast to late service builds grease quickly. Regular testing shows whether the cleaning interval keeps up.

For landlords and multi-site operators
We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare across West Sussex. Larger estates can be phased building by building around the people who use them.
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.
Leave it or put it right?
Skipping grease testing leaves the cleaning interval to guesswork. If grease reaches 500 microns anywhere, TR19® Grease calls for immediate spot cleaning, and you can only act on that if you’ve measured it. A planned visit to Slinfold is easier to arrange than an emergency callout.
Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Call for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.
