TR19 inspection in Single Street

Why act early in Single Street

If a kitchen in Single Street has been cleaned on the same calendar for years, there’s no way to know if that interval is right without measuring. Measured readings let a competent person set the interval. It’s better booked as a planned job in Single Street than handled as an emergency.

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Problems in a system tend to grow, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you’re not sure what’s needed, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

TR19 inspection for kitchens and businesses in Single Street

A fixed schedule does not always match how a kitchen really cooks. Some kitchens build up grease faster than the minimum intervals assume, which is why measurement matters. We give your risk assessment measured figures rather than guesses. Common call-outs are for heavy grease suspected in the plenum or ducts and kitchens whose menu or hours have changed, across post-clean checks, pre-clean surveys and insurer audits.

London kitchens are often tucked into basements or the back of a building, and the duct may run up through several floors before it discharges at the roof. In Single Street, as elsewhere in the capital, a long duct run means more access points to open and more grease to remove.

Every visit ends with a written report and photos, so there’s a dated record of the work. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, the certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Honest limits

We’d rather tell you now than book work that will not help, so here are the limits:

  • Hidden runs that need access panels first
  • Removing the grease, which is a separate clean
  • Design faults in the extract system

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Where we work

  • Pre-clean surveys

What affects the cost of TR19 inspection

You will get a fixed price before we start. It takes into account:

  • The number of sites or systems
  • The condition of the system
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle
  • Site rules, permits and inductions

No two sites are the same, so we price each one individually. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all play a part.

Asking for a quote

Before you ask for a quote, gather:

  • Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • Any previous report or certificate

To help us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, pictures of the system and any previous report or certificate. Then phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.

What your team can do, and what needs us

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.

Single Street: your questions answered

Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Single Street?

In Single Street, it’s Bromley council that carries out food hygiene inspections. How often a business is inspected depends on the risk rating the council gives it, so it’s worth staying ready all year.

Can the work in Single Street be done at night or at weekends?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. That way a site in Single Street does not have to lose a day’s trading. When you call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos, mention when the site is quiet.

What happens on a pre-clean survey?

A survey finds out how the system is laid out, how dirty it is and what can be reached, before anyone starts cleaning. Missing access panels are noted ahead of the clean.

Which accreditations do you hold?

We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.

What grease levels does TR19 allow?

Under TR19® Grease, the mean thickness should not exceed 200 microns between cleans. Any reading of 500 microns or more needs immediate spot cleaning.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. One number covers all your sites in our area, with visits on a regular schedule.

Do you look at the system first?

Yes. We always survey first, from your pictures and details, or with a visit where necessary. Then you get a fixed quote.

Do we have to follow TR19 by law?

No. TR19® isn’t law; it’s BESA’s specification. The law is the Fire Safety Order 2005, under which the responsible person must manage fire risk, and TR19® is what insurers and fire officers look to.

Grease, kitchens and Single Street

The FSA’s data shows about 3 pubs and bars registered in Single Street and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Breakfasts, bar meals and functions all put grease into the extract wherever they’re cooked. Fire safety in Single Street falls to London Fire Brigade. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. Most London extract cleaning happens at night, after the last service.

If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Cudham Church of England Primary School or anywhere near Single Street, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. Where a hall near Church of St Peter and St Paul, or anywhere in Single Street, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does. Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Down House is about 1 mile north-west), access may need planning.

Single Street is about 5 miles south of Orpington, in Greater London. We provide TR19 inspection for commercial premises of every kind in Single Street and the rest of Greater London. Our area takes in 764 places across Greater London, from busy centres to quieter spots. There’s also a page for London, roughly 14 miles from Single Street.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We are happy to deal with either side, and the report can go to both.

For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so records stay tidy.

Looking after it afterwards

Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:

  • Keep the route to access panels clear
  • Store grease readings where your insurer can see them
  • Wipe the canopy surfaces regularly
  • Mention new equipment or longer hours at the next test

If any reading is 500 microns or more, the report flags it for immediate spot cleaning, and we can quote to do it.

When cooking hours or the menu change, check the interval still fits. Fresh readings show whether it needs to change.

What happens on the day

A visit follows the same order every time: sheeting and protection first, isolate whatever needs isolating, carry out the TR19 inspection, tidy up and hand over the paperwork. On site, the work takes a morning or less for one kitchen, more where there are several systems. Security desks and permits-to-work are routine in London, so let us know what your building in Single Street needs from us.

  1. Post-clean verification is booked once the clean is done.
  2. The same access points are opened up.
  3. Grease readings are taken again at set points.
  4. Photos are taken to show the condition after the clean.
  5. The results are reported, with anything missed flagged.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
  • Let us know about parking and loading
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand

Ask for a quote

Photos are the quickest way to a quote: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
