How we handle grease filter exchange in Single Street

Think of filter exchange as routine care for the extract. Between full cleans, it keeps the airflow healthy and takes a messy task off your team. Full TR19 cleaning still comes at the right interval, with a certificate. If you have missing filters in the filter bank and smoke and heat lingering under the hood, we can put it right, from mesh filters, wall canopies and baffle filters onwards.

London kitchens are often tucked into basements or the back of a building, and the duct may run up through several floors before it discharges at the roof. In Single Street, as elsewhere in the capital, a long duct run means more access points to open and more grease to remove.

The report is your system’s health record: dated, with photos, and showing what was done. Grease extract cleans are also certificated to TR19® Grease through the BESCA VHE portal, ready for your insurer.

Looking after it afterwards

So the system stays in good health:

  • Tell us if a filter is bent or damaged
  • Keep filter exchange and TR19 cleaning on the same plan
  • Clear anything stored on or near the canopy
  • Let us know if your cooking hours increase

Between visits, check that every filter is still in place. A missing filter leaves a gap for grease so tell us if you need a replacement.

Saturated filters let more grease through. A regular cycle keeps the rest of the system cleaner between full cleans.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Damaged filters letting grease past

What affects the quote in Single Street

Sites vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:

  • How big the system is
  • What state the system is in
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle
  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits

We do not list prices on the website, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we will talk you through it.

Asking for a quote

To speed up the quote, please include:

  • Problems your staff have spotted
  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your pictures and details or, where that is not enough, a survey on site. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before work begins.

Why act early in Single Street

Washing filters in-house is an option for kitchens in Single Street, and it works when it’s done well and never skipped. When it doesn’t happen reliably, an exchange makes it automatic. London sites work long hours, and the longer a job is left, the bigger it gets.

One small site or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before we start.

Why Single Street businesses choose us

The process

Your trading hours come first. We book the visit for a time the area is closed, whether that’s an evening, overnight or a weekend. When the team arrives, the work area is protected and the relevant equipment is switched off to cool, and the job takes anything from a few minutes to an hour or so, depending on the number of filters. A name and number for whoever controls access to the building in Single Street saves time on the night.

  1. First, we check the canopies and the filters in them.
  2. Any damaged or missing filters are noted.
  3. Greasy filters are swapped for clean ones.
  4. We check the filters are seated and the canopy is ready to use.
  5. We tell you if the plenum or canopy needs a clean.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system

Some systems can be priced from pictures; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.

Single Street questions

Who enforces fire safety at workplaces in Single Street?

That is London Fire Brigade. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.

Can parking be tricky for a job in Single Street?

A loading bay, a visitor permit or off-street space near the site in Single Street makes the visit easier to plan. Much of our London work is done overnight, which helps.

Where does the waste go?

We contain it and take it with us. Grease, debris and waste water are collected as the work goes on, so it doesn’t spread.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and we will quote them together.

Is filter exchange enough instead of a full extract clean?

It doesn’t. Filters do not catch everything, so grease still reaches the ductwork, so the full system still needs cleaning to TR19.

Do I get a report after the visit?

Yes. You get a written report with photos after each visit, showing what was done, anything we couldn’t reach and when the next visit is due. Kitchen extract cleans to TR19® Grease also get a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

What if parts of the system cannot be reached?

They’re marked on the report. In ductwork, new access panels are often the answer, and we can fit those.

What paperwork should we keep on file?

The reports and certificates from each visit, plus your own logs. They’re what an insurer, fire officer or EHO may ask for, so keep them where they can be found quickly.

What your team can do, and what needs us

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, alongside our reports.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.

When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.
