Shadoxhurst TR19 inspection
Need TR19 inspection in Shadoxhurst? We diagnose first, fix the price and book the work around your hours, finishing with a written report and pictures.
- Sections of duct that can’t be reached
- Heavy grease suspected in the plenum or ducts
- Systems cleaned on a calendar with no measurements
How we handle TR19 inspection in Shadoxhurst
TR19® Grease says grease should not exceed a mean of 200 microns between cleans, while a reading of 500 microns or more anywhere calls for immediate spot cleaning. Grease testing shows which side of those lines you are on. The work covers access surveys, pre-clean surveys and insurer audits, and people most often call us about an insurer’s request for a TR19 audit and systems cleaned on a calendar with no measurements.
Somewhere as small as Shadoxhurst, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

What affects the cost of TR19 inspection
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- The number of sites or systems
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
- The condition of the system
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we survey first, from pictures or on site, and the price is agreed before we start.
Helping us quote
Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
- The postcode and the type of business
There’s no standard price list, because every site is different. Instead, we look at your site first, from photos or a survey, and then give you a fixed quote. To start, call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
Kitchen extracts in Shadoxhurst
We cover Shadoxhurst, about 48 miles from central London, as part of our work across London and the South East. Evening, overnight and weekend visits are all possible. It’s Ashford council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Shadoxhurst. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.
Godinton House, about 3.7 miles north, is one of the historic houses near Shadoxhurst; if you run event catering at a venue like that, cleans can be booked between functions. Healthcare kitchens can’t easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Shadoxhurst is William Harvey Hospital, about 4.8 miles north-east. Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of St Peter and St Paul or anywhere around Shadoxhurst, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other.
Shadoxhurst is about 3 miles south-west of Ashford, in Kent. Anywhere in TN26, we can carry out TR19 inspection at your premises. Our Kent coverage runs to 922 places, Shadoxhurst among them. There’s also a page for Maidstone, about 17 miles away.
We work across TN26 for TR19 inspection and the streets around it. TR19 inspection is available to premises on The Street, Park Farm Close and Woodchurch Road and the roads around them. Neighbouring places we cover for TR19 inspection include Stubb's Cross (1 mile north-east), Chilmington Green (2 miles north), Kingsnorth (2 miles east), Fleeden (2 miles north) and Stanhope (2 miles north-east). Within a short drive, we also cover Ashford (3 miles north-east), Folkestone (15 miles east), Faversham (15 miles north), Hythe (12 miles east), Davington (15 miles north) and Preston (14 miles north).
Local landmarks in Shadoxhurst
Typical jobs here are in premises near Stone Wood, among other places. For rail, the closest station is Ham Street station, roughly 3.1 miles south-east. A little further out are Woodchurch Village Life Museum (2.9 miles south-west) and William Harvey Hospital (4.8 miles north-east). For a walk, there’s Orlestone Forest.
What happens if it’s left?
A pre-clean survey avoids surprises on the night. Missing access panels, hidden duct runs and awkward fans are found before the cleaners arrive, so the clean covers the whole system. Rural sites cannot always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.
We don’t list prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form, and we will explain what it covers.

How the visit works
Your trading hours come first. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. Once we’re in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the job takes anything from an hour for a small canopy and short duct to a good part of a day for a large site. A quick note on how to find the site and where to park makes a visit to Shadoxhurst run smoothly.
- We go through any past certificates and reports.
- The layout is traced from the canopy to the discharge.
- Access panels are located and any missing ones noted.
- We measure the grease and photograph each point.
- We report back with readings and a fixed quote.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear the space around the work
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
Getting a quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in photos, get a survey first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.
Related advice
Part by part
Canopy and plenum
Filters can look fine while the plenum behind them is heavily coated. So we measure behind the filters, not just in front.
Extract fan and discharge
We look at where the extract discharges outside, as grease can build up there too.
When it’s something else
We will always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what this work cannot put right:
- Fire safety duties beyond the extract system
- Sections with no access, until panels are fitted
- Heavy deposits found on test, which still need cleaning
Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly.
What the work covers
- Insurer audits
- Pre-clean surveys
- Access surveys
- Post-clean checks
- Wet film thickness tests
- Deposit thickness tests
Your questions about TR19 inspection in Shadoxhurst
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Shadoxhurst?
Shadoxhurst is in the area of Kent Fire and Rescue Service. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.
Can the work in Shadoxhurst be done at night or at weekends?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. Your customers, staff or residents in Shadoxhurst needn’t be disturbed. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we will book within them.
How do you protect the area?
Floors and surfaces near the work are sheeted before any work starts, and anything we remove is contained. Before we leave, we tidy up and clean down.
What grease levels does TR19 allow?
TR19® Grease says grease should not go over a mean of 200 microns between cleans. 500 microns or more at any point calls for immediate spot cleaning.
What accreditations do you have?
We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.
What happens to the waste?
It leaves the site with us at the end of the visit. During the work, it’s contained so the area stays clean.
Can you quote from photos?
In many cases, yes. Photos of the system and the access, plus your opening hours and last report, are often enough. Larger or hidden systems need a survey on site first.
Can you inspect our extract for our insurance company?
Yes. Many insurers ask for proof of TR19 cleaning and inspection, and our audit gives a clear record of the system’s condition, with recommendations where something needs doing.
Multi-site and managed buildings
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works, and we’ll send a fixed quote.
Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.
Keeping the system healthy
After the visit, a few habits help the work last:
- Keep TR19 certificates, readings and reports together
- Tell us if menus or opening hours change
- Keep the route to access panels clear
- Look out for grease drips round the canopy edge
The audit report is set out to pass straight to your insurer or broker, with readings, photos and any areas not accessible.
Close the access gaps found during inspection, so every part of the duct can be cleaned.
