TR19 inspection around Rudmore
Rudmore lies within about 1 mile of the sea. Salt air speeds up corrosion of roof-level fans, discharge cowls and their fixings. Food Standards Agency records list about 129 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens and about 103 takeaways in Rudmore and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Kitchens like these cook for very different hours, and grease testing shows which extracts need cleaning soonest. The fire and rescue service for Rudmore is Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk.

TR19 inspection in Rudmore
Not every kitchen fits neatly into a calendar. In a busy kitchen, grease can build faster than the minimum intervals allow for, which is why measurement matters. Our readings give your risk assessment real numbers to work from. Typical jobs include an insurer’s request for a TR19 audit and checking the result of a recent clean, across deposit thickness tests, access surveys and post-clean checks.
Kitchens around a place like Rudmore are often in older buildings or single-storey extensions, with the duct running through a roof space or up an outside wall. Flat runs collect grease and need proper access to clean.
Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a written report, dated and illustrated with photos, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

What affects the quote in Rudmore
A fixed price needs a few facts first. We check:
- The condition we find in the survey
- Whether several sites go on one quote
- A single visit or a regular plan
- How easy every part is to reach
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Problems in a system tend to grow, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you’re not sure what’s needed, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will give you an honest view and a fixed quote.
What to send for a quote
To help us quote quickly, please include:
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- A few general shots of the system
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- The site address and the type of premises
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before any work starts.
Aftercare tips
A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. We recommend:
- Keep access panels clear and unpainted
- Tell us if menus or opening hours change
- Keep grease filters clean and fitted properly
- Send TR19 audit reports to your insurer on request
Where sections couldn’t be reached, the report says where access panels would help. With panels fitted, the next clean can cover every section.
Revisit the cleaning interval whenever the menu or hours change. A quick grease test answers the question.
Different parts, different methods
Schools, hospitals and care homes
Education kitchens need TR19 inspections like any other. Testing shows whether the interval suits.
Canopy and plenum
The canopy itself is checked inside and out, and note where grease has gathered.
Questions from Rudmore
Who enforces fire safety at workplaces in Rudmore?
It’s Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Rudmore. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.
Is Rudmore within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
What types of premises do you cover?
All kinds of commercial and public premises: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. Work is timed around how each site runs.
What is post-clean verification?
It’s an inspection after cleaning, to show what state the system was left in, for our cleans and other firms’ alike.
Will you produce a report for our insurer?
Yes. Our TR19 audits cover readings, photos, access and a recommended cleaning interval. It’s set out for your insurer or broker.
What do you need from me for a quote?
The site address, the type of premises and your opening hours, along with a few pictures and any previous report.
What does TR19 mean?
It’s BESA’s specification and the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to. It sets out inspection, cleaning and record keeping, and it takes a risk-based approach.
What do the grease readings need to be?
Between cleans, the mean should stay at 200 microns or below, and anywhere at 500 microns or more needs spot cleaning straight away.
What happens if it’s left?
Catching heavy deposits early keeps the fix small. Left alone, grease keeps building between cleans. A planned visit to Rudmore fits your hours; an emergency does not.
You won’t find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we’ll talk you through it.

The process
The first job on site is protection: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes a couple of hours for a typical kitchen extract system, and we clear up before we go. In a smaller place like Rudmore, parking is rarely the issue, but tell us about gates, roof access and opening hours.
- The visit is arranged for when the kitchen is not busy.
- We look over the canopy, plenum, ducts, fan and discharge.
- Grease readings are taken at set points using WFTT or DTT.
- Each test point and any access problems are photographed.
- We send a report setting out the readings, photos and next steps.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
- Clear the space around the work
Ask for a quote
There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from photos or a survey, and then send you a fixed quote. To start, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

What a clean won’t put right
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- Ductwork that was designed or installed badly
- Heavy deposits found on test, which still need cleaning
- Fire safety duties beyond the extract system

Staff cleaning versus specialist work
When your team notices a problem between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that won’t come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We will take a look and give you a fixed quote.
Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, alongside our reports.
