TR19 inspection in Kempshott

TR19 inspection in Kempshott, done properly

A pre-clean survey looks at the whole system, from canopy to discharge. Access is checked along the full length, and grease readings are taken at set points. The work covers post-clean checks, pre-clean surveys and wet film thickness tests, and the jobs we see most are pre-clean surveys before a first TR19 clean and ductwork where grease may be over the TR19 limits.

In a smaller place like Kempshott, many kitchens sit in older buildings or later extensions, where the duct may cross a roof void or climb an outside wall. Long horizontal runs like that hold grease and need access panels to reach.

We have been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.

What happens on the day

On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. The work itself takes an hour or two for a single kitchen, longer for a large or complex system. Everything the job in Kempshott needs is worked out beforehand, from the survey.

  1. After the clean, we arrange a time to check the system.
  2. We open the access points used on the clean.
  3. Grease readings are taken again at set points.
  4. We photograph each area to record how it was left.
  5. The results are reported, with anything missed flagged.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system

Ask for a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

What affects the cost of TR19 inspection

Every site gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • The size of the system
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • Any permits to work or inductions
  • Working hours and out-of-hours timing

You won’t find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we will talk you through it.

What we need to know

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Useful things to send:

  • A few general shots of the system
  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
  • Any previous report or certificate
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall

Common questions in Kempshott

Do you cover smaller places like Kempshott?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Kempshott included. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.

Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Kempshott?

It’s Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Kempshott. TR19® isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark many fire officers and insurers look to when they ask how often the extract is cleaned.

Is a quote from photos possible?

Often, yes. Photos of the system and the access, plus your opening hours and last report, are often enough. Larger or hidden systems need a survey on site first.

How much does TR19 inspection cost in Kempshott?

Every site is different, so each gets its own fixed quote. To get one, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with the site type, opening hours and a few photos.

What happens on a pre-clean survey?

The survey covers the whole system, grease readings and access to each section. It lets us plan the clean and send you a fixed quote.

What do you do with what you remove?

We take it away when we go. While we work, it’s kept contained to keep the area clean.

What do the grease readings need to be?

The TR19® Grease figures are a mean of 200 microns or less between cleans, and immediate spot cleaning wherever a reading hits 500 microns. Our report sets your readings against both.

Can you set up regular visits?

Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, to suit the system and how it’s used.

What TR19 inspection can’t fix

Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:

  • Mechanical faults in the extract
  • Parts of the duct nobody can reach yet
  • The grease itself, which needs a full or spot clean

If in doubt, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Why it’s worth doing now in Kempshott

Without readings, you’re guessing when to clean. Any reading of 500 microns or more needs immediate spot cleaning under TR19® Grease, which you will not know without measuring. A quieter site near Kempshott still needs its system looked after.

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll go through it with you.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Kempshott

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.

What we’re called out for in Kempshott

You cannot judge grease thickness by eye. Clean filters can hide a heavy layer behind them, so readings are the reliable guide.

The symptoms we’re asked about most include:

  • Ductwork where grease may be over the TR19 limits
  • Sections of duct that can’t be reached
  • Kitchens taken over with no cleaning records
  • Insurers asking for TR19 evidence

Bursars and site managers at schools such as Kempshott Junior School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty.

  • When they can work, and whether that’s outside your opening hours
  • Whether the figure could change on the day

Questions to ask before you book

Kitchen extracts in Kempshott

There are about 28 restaurants, cafés and works canteens and about 13 takeaways across Kempshott and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half), according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. Each kitchen extract among them can be measured for grease to set the right cleaning interval. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service covers Kempshott. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order. Food hygiene inspections in Kempshott are the job of Basingstoke and Deane council’s environmental health team. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.

If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Park Prewett Hospital about 2.7 miles north, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Saint Mark's Church, or anywhere in Kempshott, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.
