About our TR19 inspection in Hatch Warren
BESA sets minimum cleaning intervals by daily use: every 3 months for heavy use of 12 to 16 hours a day, every 6 months for moderate use of 6 to 12 hours, and every 12 months for light use of 2 to 6 hours. Grease testing shows whether your kitchen needs cleaning more often than that. The work covers insurer audits, pre-clean surveys and wet film thickness tests, and people most often call us about kitchen extract systems with no recent grease readings and pre-clean surveys before a first TR19 clean.
Size doesn’t change the work: a kitchen in a place like Hatch Warren gets the whole system cleaned, canopy to discharge. We plan the visit around your hours, with the journey sorted in advance.
Every visit ends with a written report and pictures, so there’s a dated record of the work. Kitchen extract cleaning to TR19® Grease is certificated through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

For landlords and multi-site operators
For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and photos, so records stay tidy.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.
What a clean will not put right
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- Heavy deposits found on test, which still need cleaning
- Design faults in the extract system
- The responsible person’s own fire risk assessment
Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
What the work covers
- Post-clean checks
- Insurer audits
- Pre-clean surveys
- Deposit thickness tests
- Wet film thickness tests
- Access surveys
How the visit works
We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before any work starts, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes around an hour or two per canopy and duct system. Your opening hours decide when we come to Hatch Warren, not ours.
- Post-clean verification is booked once the clean is done.
- The same access points are opened up.
- We repeat the WFTT or DTT readings.
- We photograph each area to record how it was left.
- We report the findings and flag any areas that need more work.
Before we arrive
- Have your last certificate or report to hand
- Clear loose items from the work area
- Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
Getting a quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

When to call us in Hatch Warren
Grease in a duct is flammable fuel. Flames from the range can be pulled into the canopy and travel through the ducts to other parts of the building. Knowing how much there is lets you act before it becomes a hazard.
Any of these means the system needs a check-up:
- Heavy grease suspected in the plenum or ducts
- Insurers asking for TR19 evidence
- Checking the result of a recent clean
- Uncertainty over how often to clean
A hospital like Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, about 3.2 miles north, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day.
What to look for in a quote
- Their accreditations, such as BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, CHAS or SafeContractor
- What’s included in the scope, part by part
- Whether inaccessible sections are listed on the report
- Whether a written report and pictures are included
What staff can safely do
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that is where we come in.
Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
Hatch Warren questions
Can the work in Hatch Warren be done at night or at weekends?
Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. It means the site in Hatch Warren keeps running as normal. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.
Can school kitchens in Hatch Warren be cleaned in the holidays?
Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. Food Standards Agency records list about 7 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Hatch Warren. You can call 0345 646 2711, or email photos with the dates the site is empty.
How do you keep the site clean during the work?
We start with protection: floor sheeting and covers over nearby surfaces and equipment. We tidy up and take our waste away before we leave.
How much does TR19 inspection cost?
It depends on the site, so we quote each one individually. To get one, ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with the site type, opening hours and a few pictures.
Can you set up regular visits?
Yes. Scheduled maintenance plans are part of what we do, set at the interval the system needs. The report from each visit recommends the next date.
Can one contract cover all our sites?
Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, so we can schedule a run of sites on one programme. Every site has its own report.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a fan failure or damage after a fire, ring the 24/7 line, and we will advise on what to do next.
What do you need from me for a quote?
The site address, the type of premises and your opening hours, plus pictures of the system and your last certificate or report if you have one.
