TR19 inspection for sites in Harbourland

What happens if it’s left?

Without readings, you’re guessing when to clean. Any reading of 500 microns or more needs immediate spot cleaning under TR19® Grease, and you can only act on that if you’ve measured it. If the system at a site near Harbourland fails, there may be nowhere nearby to move to.

Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you are unsure, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line for straight advice and a fixed quote.

About our TR19 inspection in Harbourland

TR19® Grease says grease should not exceed a mean of 200 microns between cleans, and 500 microns or more at any point needs immediate spot cleaning. Testing is how you know where your system stands. The work covers pre-clean surveys, wet film thickness tests and post-clean checks, and common reasons people get in touch are sites with gaps in their extract records and kitchen extract systems with no recent grease readings.

In a small place like Harbourland, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.

We have been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.

How the visit works

Your staff do not need to do much on the day. Someone lets us in at the agreed time and shows us where everything is, and we take it from there. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. A few pictures of the system help us make the most of a visit to a place like Harbourland.

  1. We agree a time when the kitchen is closed or quiet.
  2. Every part of the system is examined, end to end.
  3. Grease readings are taken at set points using WFTT or DTT.
  4. Photos are taken at each point, and access gaps noted.
  5. The findings go into a report with readings, pictures and a recommended next clean.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the space around the work
  • Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend

How to get a quote

There’s no standard price list, because every site is different. Instead, we look at your site first, from photos or a survey, and then give you a fixed quote. To start, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare across Kent. Work can be phased by floor, building or site to keep disruption down.

We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

What we’re called out for in Harbourland

Grease builds up as cooking vapour cools inside the extract. The thickest layers can sit out of sight in the plenum, at bends and along flat runs.

Look out for any of the following:

  • An insurer’s request for a TR19 audit
  • Checking the result of a recent clean
  • Heavy grease suspected in the plenum or ducts
  • Sections of duct that can’t be reached

Church and community hall kitchens, near St Paul's Church or anywhere around Harbourland, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other.

Questions to ask before you book

How the job changes from site to site

Extract fan and discharge

We look at where the extract discharges outside, since grease reaches the very end of the system.

Restaurants, pubs and hotels

A kitchen running from breakfast to late service builds grease quickly. Regular testing shows whether the cleaning interval keeps up.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Staff cleaning does not replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.

Harbourland questions

Can you come to Harbourland after we close?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. That way a site in Harbourland doesn’t have to lose a day’s trading. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Can you clean school kitchen extracts in Harbourland during the holidays?

Yes, holiday work suits schools best. There are about 8 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Harbourland. Just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with your term dates and we will plan around them.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Just the basics: where it is, what kind of site, when it’s open and the access. Photos and any previous paperwork make it quicker. After that, simply phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.

At what point does grease need cleaning?

Two figures matter: a mean of no more than 200 microns between cleans, and 500 microns at any single point, which needs immediate spot cleaning. We show your readings against those figures.

Do you cover Harbourland?

Yes. We work across Greater London, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and that includes Harbourland.

Do you look at the system first?

Yes. We always survey first, from your photos and details, or with a visit where necessary. A fixed quote follows.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we will propose a schedule with a fixed quote.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line and we’ll talk you through the next steps.
