TR19 inspection near Drellingore

TR19 inspection for kitchens and businesses in Drellingore

After a clean, post-clean verification checks the result, with new readings and photos of the cleaned areas. It shows whether the system was left in the condition the paperwork describes. If you have heavy grease suspected in the plenum or ducts and extracts that have never been grease tested, we can help, from insurer audits, wet film thickness tests and pre-clean surveys onwards.

In a small place like Drellingore, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. We agree access and timings in advance.

A written report with photos follows every visit, so there’s a dated record of the work. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, the certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

How the visit works

On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before any work starts, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes a couple of hours for a typical kitchen extract system. Somewhere as small as Drellingore, the date and timings are agreed with you well before the day.

  1. Post-clean verification is booked once the clean is done.
  2. We open the access points used on the clean.
  3. We repeat the WFTT or DTT readings.
  4. Photos are taken to show the condition after the clean.
  5. The results are reported, with anything missed flagged.

Part by part

Extract fan and discharge

The discharge at the end of the system is checked as well, since grease reaches the very end of the system.

Canopy and plenum

Clean-looking filters do not mean a clean plenum. So we measure behind the filters, not just in front.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that is where we come in.

If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that won’t come clean, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We can diagnose it and quote.

Grease, kitchens and Drellingore

Sea air reaches Drellingore, which sits within about 2 miles of the coast. Near the sea, the fan and discharge at the top of a kitchen extract corrode faster than they would inland. The FSA’s food hygiene register shows about 3 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens and about 3 takeaways within about 1.5 miles of central Drellingore. Where they cook under a canopy, a grease reading is the way to tell whether the extract is due a clean. Kitchens in Drellingore get their food hygiene inspections from Dover council. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.

Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Royal Victoria Hospital is the nearest hospital to Drellingore, about 2.9 miles south-west. Where a hall near Church of St Michael, or anywhere in Drellingore, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does.

Fixed quotes for TR19 inspection in Drellingore

There’s no set price list, because sites vary so much. What we look at:

  • What state the system is in
  • Site rules, permits and inductions
  • The times the site is available
  • Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids

The cost depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and how easy it is to reach. You get a fixed price before we start, so you know where you stand.

What we need to know

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:

  • The site address and the type of premises
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • Any previous report or certificate

For TR19 inspection in Drellingore, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email. Let us know the site type and the opening hours, plus photos or the previous report if they’re to hand. A fixed quote normally follows within one working day.

Keeping the system healthy

No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. Our tips:

  • Keep TR19 certificates, readings and reports together
  • Keep access panels clear and unpainted
  • Send TR19 audit reports to your insurer on request
  • Clean or swap grease filters as often as the kitchen needs

You get a report with the grease readings, where they were taken and photos of each point. File it alongside your TR19 certificates.

Keep all TR19 records together so you can produce them quickly.

Signs you need TR19 inspection in Drellingore

Grease builds up as cooking vapour cools inside the extract. The thickest layers can sit out of sight in the plenum, at bends and along flat runs.

What we’re most often called out for:

  • Ductwork where grease may be over the TR19 limits
  • Cleaning intervals that may not suit the kitchen
  • Insurers asking for TR19 evidence
  • Checking the result of a recent clean

Historic houses near Drellingore, such as Acrise Place about 3 miles west, are a reminder that older buildings with event kitchens can have long, awkward duct routes.

Questions from Drellingore

Will you come out to Drellingore?

Yes, Drellingore is part of our area, however small the site. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.

Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Drellingore?

That’s Kent Fire and Rescue Service. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.

Do you work out of hours?

Yes. Evenings, nights and weekends are normal working hours for us, so the site does not lose a service.

How long does grease testing take?

Expect it to take a morning or less for one kitchen, more where there are several systems. We fit it around when the kitchen is closed or quiet.

When should we have our next grease test?

It depends on how heavily the kitchen cooks. BESA’s minimum cleaning intervals are every 3, 6 or 12 months for heavy, moderate and light use, and testing shows if your kitchen needs more.

Are you accredited?

We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, to suit the system and how it’s used.

Can you verify a clean after it’s been done?

Verification means repeat readings and pictures once the clean is done. The report flags anything missed.

For landlords and multi-site operators

Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Every visit ends with a dated report and photos, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too across Kent. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.
