TR19 inspection for sites in Blackmoor

TR19 inspection for kitchens and businesses in Blackmoor

A fixed schedule doesn’t always match how a kitchen really cooks. Some kitchens build up grease faster than the minimum intervals assume, and only measurement shows it. Our readings give your risk assessment real numbers to work from. Typical jobs include checking the result of a recent clean and an insurer’s request for a TR19 audit, on access surveys, post-clean checks and deposit thickness tests.

Somewhere as small as Blackmoor, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.

For insurers and inspectors, the record counts. So every job comes with a written report and pictures, plus a TR19® certificate through the BESCA VHE portal where the work is a TR19® Grease clean.

Leave it or put it right?

After an incident, an insurer can ask to see proof of TR19 cleaning and inspection. Missing records can put a claim at risk. Getting an inspection done now starts that paper trail. Equipment tucked in a roof space or outbuilding near Blackmoor rarely gets looked at unless someone books it.

You won’t find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we’ll talk you through it.

Why book with us

  • One number for every site across the South East and London
  • Every visit written up, with pictures
  • Survey first, then a fixed quote
  • Fully insured

See our cost guide or our accreditations and certificates.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes the next visit easier:

  • Clean grease off the canopy between professional cleans
  • Keep TR19 certificates, readings and reports together
  • Book the next test on the date in the report
  • Never cook with filters missing

Each report suggests the next clean and the next test, based on the readings and how the kitchen is used.

Test grease regularly instead of relying on the calendar. It shows if build-up is speeding up.

Blackmoor kitchens: local notes

The Food Standards Agency lists about 3 pubs and bars as registered food businesses across Blackmoor and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Wherever they cook, the canopy, duct and fan collect grease just as a restaurant’s do. Kitchens in Blackmoor get their food hygiene inspections from East Hampshire council. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. The fire and rescue service for Blackmoor is Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract.

Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Chase Community Hospital (about 1.4 miles north-east), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands. If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near St Matthew's Church or elsewhere in Blackmoor, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event. For schools such as St Matthew's Church of England Aided Primary School, kitchen extract cleaning is usually booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed.

Canopy and plenum

Filters can look fine while the plenum behind them is heavily coated. That’s why we test behind them.

Schools, hospitals and care homes

In healthcare and care settings, kitchens may run from early until late. Testing shows if the cleaning interval keeps pace.

Your questions about TR19 inspection in Blackmoor

Which environmental health team covers Blackmoor?

That is East Hampshire council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Blackmoor. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.

Do you work in villages like Blackmoor?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

What do you do with what you remove?

Anything we remove is contained as we work and taken away with us, including grease, debris and dirty water. None of it is left on site.

Can you set up regular visits?

Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we will propose a schedule with a fixed quote.

Do you look at the system first?

Yes. For many sites, pictures and a few details are enough, and larger or hidden systems get a visit.

What is post-clean verification?

Verification means repeat readings and pictures once the clean is done. Any areas that weren’t cleaned properly are flagged.

Do you work out of hours?

Yes. Much of our work happens in the evening, overnight or at weekends, so you do not have to close during trading.

Do we have to follow TR19 by law?

No, TR19® isn’t legislation. The Fire Safety Order 2005 still requires the responsible person to manage fire risk, and grease in the extract is part of that. Many insurers also expect TR19 cleaning.

Multi-site and managed buildings

When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.

We regularly work with managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease need training, the right equipment and safe access. That is our job.

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

When something else is needed

An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work can’t put right:

  • Hidden runs that need access panels first
  • Installation problems, which fall under design guidance such as DW172
  • A faulty or failing extract fan

If in doubt, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will say what we think.

How the visit works

Night work is normal for us. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes anything from an hour for a small canopy and short duct to a good part of a day for a large site. Photos of the system and how to reach it help us plan a visit to Blackmoor.

  1. After the clean, we arrange a time to check the system.
  2. We open the access points used on the clean.
  3. We repeat the WFTT or DTT readings.
  4. Photos are taken to show the condition after the clean.
  5. The results are reported, with anything missed flagged.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site
  • Tell us where we can park and unload
  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use

How to get a quote

Every quote begins with a look at the system, from your pictures and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price, before work begins.
