Kitchen extract cleaning near South Fambridge

Commercial kitchen extraction cleaning in South Fambridge

We have been trading since 2009, cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East and London. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 and are fully insured. If you have extraction mentioned at an environmental health visit and proof of cleaning requested by an insurer, we can help, from plenums and filters, extract fans and horizontal duct runs onwards. Hood cleaning is where most enquiries from South Fambridge start: a system that is clean inside, not just on the surface, and a certificate that proves it.

What can be cleaned depends on what can be reached. Where a duct run has no panels, we say so on the report and can fit new ones.

Somewhere as small as South Fambridge, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease.

Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

How it works

On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool before work begins, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits. A quick note on how to find the site and where to park makes a visit to South Fambridge run smoothly.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the whole system and its access points.
  2. We record grease levels at set points, then fix the price.
  3. After the kitchen closes, we sheet the area and set up to contain grease and water.
  4. Heavy deposits are scraped by hand and the system degreased to TR19® Grease.
  5. The sign-off: post-clean readings, a TR19 certificate and a photo report with the next clean date.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the space around the work
  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site
  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

How the job changes from site to site

Schools, hospitals and care homes

Even a kitchen that cooks only a few hours a day needs cleaning at least every 12 months under BESA guidance. School holidays are an easy time to do it.

Restaurant and pub kitchens

Busy restaurant and pub kitchens often cook for long hours, frying and grilling, which can put them in BESA’s 3 or 6-monthly bands. We clean after close or before opening.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, and that is where we come in.

What a clean will not put right

We’d rather tell you now than book work that won’t help, so these are the things it will not cover:

  • Fat blocking the kitchen drains
  • A duct that is holed or coming apart
  • Faulty fire dampers in the duct

If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

South Fambridge kitchens: local notes

There are about 3 restaurants, cafés and works canteens within about 1.5 miles of central South Fambridge, according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. Those that fry, grill or roast under a canopy need their extracts cleaned at intervals set by how long they cook. It’s Maldon council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in South Fambridge. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. South Fambridge is covered by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract.

Church and community hall kitchens, near All Saints or anywhere around South Fambridge, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. For schools such as Greensward Academy, kitchen extract cleaning is normally booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed. If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Southend University Hospital about 5.4 miles south, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.

South Fambridge is about 3 miles north of Rochford, in Essex. Every kind of commercial site in South Fambridge, kitchen extract cleaning is something we can help with. Visits can be booked for evenings, overnight or weekends so the site keeps running. South Fambridge is one of 644 towns, villages and districts in Essex we cover for kitchen extract cleaning. Keeping the system healthy

Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:

  • Keep the TR19 certificate and photo report in the maintenance log
  • Clean the grease filters regularly between TR19 cleans
  • Diarise the next clean as soon as you get the certificate
  • Keep grease collection points emptied

Any section without access is marked on the report. That is part of an honest TR19 clean, not a failing, and new access panels can be fitted so the next clean covers it.

Regular filter cleaning is the simplest thing a kitchen can do. Clean, well-fitted filters catch more fat before it reaches the duct, so the ductwork stays cleaner for longer.

Managing agents and facilities teams in South Fambridge

Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Each visit produces a dated report with pictures, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.

For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so records stay tidy.

Common questions in South Fambridge

Can you come to South Fambridge after we close?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. The site is handed back ready to open. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in South Fambridge?

Kitchens in South Fambridge are inspected by Maldon council’s environmental health officers. It helps to keep the extract cleaning records with your food safety paperwork, so they’re ready if asked for.

Which parts of the extract do you clean?

All of it, from the canopy through to the discharge. Where there aren’t enough access panels to reach a section, it’s recorded, and we can fit new ones.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before any work starts, and waste is contained as we go. At the end, the area is cleaned down.

What paperwork comes with a kitchen extract clean?

You receive a TR19 certificate and a photo report. The certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, and the report shows before and after pictures, readings, any areas not reached and the next clean date.

How much notice should we give?

Book as early as you can for planned work, particularly if your next visit is nearly due. For emergencies, we take calls 24/7.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes, every time. Diagnosis comes before treatment: the survey shows what needs doing and what access we need and the fixed quote is built on it.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, if we can see what we need. Otherwise, we book a survey at a time that suits the site, and the quote follows that.

Leave it or put it right?

Putting it off simply moves the grease further down the duct. Fat that was soft and easy to remove hardens with heat and time, which is slower to clean. Regular cleans keep each visit shorter. In a place like South Fambridge, ductwork and fans are easy to forget until something goes wrong.

Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you’re not sure what’s needed, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email for straight advice and a fixed quote.
