Kitchen extract cleaning across Middle Assendon

Kitchen extract cleaning in Middle Assendon

We have been trading since 2009, cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East and London. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 and are fully insured. The work covers discharge points, horizontal duct runs and plenums and filters, and common reasons people get in touch are ductwork thick with old, hardened grease and poor airflow at the canopy. Kitchens in Middle Assendon book us for TR19 cleaning for three reasons: the insurer asked, the EHO asked, or the canopy is dripping. Either way, the answer is the same: a proper clean and the paperwork to match.

A clean in Middle Assendon covers the canopy, plenum, filters, ductwork, risers and fan, and the discharge where it can be reached.

In a small place like Middle Assendon, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

Kitchen extracts in Middle Assendon

The fire and rescue service for Middle Assendon is Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. At about 36 miles from central London, Middle Assendon sits well inside the area we cover. A survey and a fixed quote come first, then the visit at a time that suits you.

If you run catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Greys Court is about 1.8 miles south-west), event kitchens in older buildings often have awkward duct runs that need planning. A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of St James or elsewhere in Middle Assendon, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often.

How we price kitchen extract cleaning

We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:

  • The condition of the system
  • How many systems or sites are involved
  • How big the system is
  • Site rules, permits and inductions

No two sites are the same, so we price each one individually. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all play a part.

What to send for a quote

You do not need the technical terms. Just send:

  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • The postcode and the type of business
  • Your last certificate, test record or report

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your photos and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price, before we start.

When it’s something else

We won’t sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so these are the things it won’t cover:

  • A grease trap that needs emptying
  • A fan motor that has burnt out
  • Faulty fire dampers in the duct

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will tell you honestly.

What the work covers

  • Vertical risers
  • Discharge points
  • Plenums and filters
  • Canopies and hoods
  • Extract fans
  • Horizontal duct runs

Why deal with it now?

After a fire, one of the first questions is often when the extract was last cleaned. Many insurers ask for proof of TR19 cleaning and may reduce or refuse a claim without it. A certificate in the file answers that question. With notice, the visit to Middle Assendon can be fitted around your bookings and events.

What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why we survey first, from pictures or on site, and why the quote is fixed before we start.

What you get with us

  • Fixed quotes from a survey or pictures
  • Every job surveyed first
  • A written report with photos after each visit
  • Fully insured

Middle Assendon: your questions answered

Is Middle Assendon within the area you cover?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Middle Assendon included. A survey first, from pictures or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Middle Assendon?

In Middle Assendon, it’s Buckinghamshire council that carries out food hygiene inspections. How often a business is inspected depends on the risk rating the council gives it, so it’s worth staying ready all year.

Can you set up regular visits?

Yes. We run scheduled maintenance contracts, with visits at the interval your system needs. The report from each visit recommends the next date.

What paperwork comes with a kitchen extract clean?

Every clean comes with a TR19 certificate and a photo report. Keep them in the maintenance log with the fire risk assessment so they’re to hand when an insurer asks.

Do I have to clean my extract to TR19 by law?

TR19 is not written into law, but the Fire Safety Order 2005 does require the responsible person to manage fire risk. Insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to TR19 as the standard, and many policies require it.

What happens to the waste?

We take it away at the end of the visit. During the work, it’s contained so the area stays clean.

What’s the right cleaning interval for a kitchen extract?

Under BESA guidance, the minimum depends on how long you cook each day: 3-monthly for heavy use, 6-monthly for moderate use and 12-monthly for light use. Grease readings can show a shorter interval is needed.

What accreditations do you hold?

Our work is to BESA TR19® Grease, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, and certificates go through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. We’ve been trading since 2009.

Different parts, different methods

Extract fan and discharge

At the end of the system is the discharge, which can collect grease and stain the surface around it. It’s cleaned as far as safe access allows, and any limits are recorded.

Ductwork and risers

Risers take the extract up through floors to roof level, and grease often collects at the bottom of them. Access panels along the riser let us clean it in sections.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that’s where we come in.

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Looking after it afterwards

Think of this as the after-treatment advice, short and simple:

  • Keep the extract on whenever the range is lit
  • Never cook with filters missing or out of place
  • Book the next clean before the date on the report
  • Keep the baffle filters clean

The report gives a recommended date for the next clean, based on your cooking hours and the grease we measured. A 3, 6 or 12-monthly maintenance plan keeps it on track, so the date isn’t missed.

Tell whoever looks after the system when something changes. Drips, odours and fan noise often mean grease is building, and a grease thickness test can confirm it.

How the visit works

There’s very little for your team to do on the day. Someone lets us in at the agreed time and shows us where everything is, and we take it from there. Before we leave, the area is tidied and the paperwork follows. For a village or hamlet like Middle Assendon, tell us about narrow lanes, gates and parking when you book.

  1. Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the system and how it’s reached.
  2. We record grease levels at set points, then fix the price.
  3. We arrive after close, protect the area and contain the waste.
  4. Heavy deposits are scraped by hand and the system degreased to TR19® Grease.
  5. The sign-off: post-clean readings, a TR19 certificate and a photo report with the next clean date.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking and loading
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Move anything stored near the system

Getting a quote

For a fixed quote, call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. A few photos and your last certificate or report help a lot. You’ll usually have a quote within one working day.
