Kitchen extract cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Inner Avenue
Cooking sends fat-laden vapour into the canopy with every service. As it cools, it clings to the inside of the ductwork and keeps building. That layer will burn, and cleaning the whole system is how you keep it under control. If you have ductwork thick with old, hardened grease and an extract that has never been cleaned to TR19, we can help, from vertical risers, plenums and filters and extract fans onwards. Need a TR19 duct cleaning contractor for Inner Avenue? We have been cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East since 2009, with a certificate and photo report after every clean.
Grease that collects out of sight, behind the filters and along the duct, is what insurers and fire officers worry about, which is why a TR19® clean in Inner Avenue goes well beyond the canopy.
In a smaller place like Inner Avenue, the kitchens with extract systems are more likely to be a pub, a café, a takeaway or a school or care home kitchen than a big restaurant. A kitchen that cooks fewer hours still builds up grease, so cleaning is planned around how much it cooks and what the readings show.
Each visit ends with a written report and pictures, so there’s a dated record of the work. Kitchen extract cleaning to TR19® Grease is certificated through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Grease, kitchens and Inner Avenue
Inner Avenue lies within about 2 miles of the sea. Metal on the roof weathers faster close to the coast, and the extract fan and cowl are no exception. The Food Standards Agency lists about 103 pubs, bars and clubs and about 25 hotels and B&Bs as registered food businesses in Inner Avenue and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Any of them serving cooked food has an extract to keep clean, from canopy to discharge. Environmental health officers from Southampton council inspect food businesses in Inner Avenue. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready.
A hospital like Royal South Hants Hospital, about under half a mile south-east, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day. School kitchens, at schools like Bevois Town Primary School for example, are usually cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost.

For rail, the closest station is St Denys station, about 0.6 miles north-east of the centre. Why it’s worth doing now in Inner Avenue
A clogged extract doesn’t only raise the fire risk. Filters block, airflow drops and the kitchen gets hotter and smokier, while the fan works harder to move less air. Smells, dripping grease and condensation often follow. Booking now means the visit to Inner Avenue is planned around you, not forced by a breakdown.
Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

What staff can safely do
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that’s where we come in.
Staff cleaning does not replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.
Inner Avenue questions
Do you work in villages like Inner Avenue?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.
Which fire service covers Inner Avenue?
It’s Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Inner Avenue. TR19® isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark many fire officers and insurers look to when they ask how often the extract is cleaned.
Which kinds of sites do you work on?
Any site with a kitchen or a ventilation system to look after, from a single café to a large school. Hotels, schools, care homes, offices, shops and leisure sites are all part of our work.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes, always. We diagnose before we treat: the survey tells us what the system needs and how to reach it, and the quote is based on that.
What if parts of the system can’t be reached?
We never leave them off the paperwork. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.
What do you do to protect the area?
Floors and surfaces near the work are sheeted before any work starts, and anything we remove is contained. Before we leave, we tidy up and clean down.
What do you do with what you remove?
Anything we remove is contained as we work and taken away with us, including grease, debris and dirty water. We do not leave it behind.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for anything that can’t wait until a planned visit. Call us any time and explain what’s happened.
How we price kitchen extract cleaning
Sites vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
- Whether several sites go on one quote
- A single visit or a regular plan
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
We do not list prices on the website, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we’ll talk you through it.
What we need to know
Many jobs can be priced from photos and some basics. Useful things to send:
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
Need a price for kitchen extract cleaning? Please phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and tell us about the site. We will talk you through the work and send you a fixed quote before you commit to anything.

What kitchen extract cleaning cannot fix
To be straight with you, there are a few things this work will not fix:
- Ductwork that is corroded, split or leaking (that’s for a ductwork contractor)
- A damper that sticks or has a damaged link
- Blocked drains from a neglected grease trap (a separate service)
Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will tell you honestly.

What we do, step by step
Protection comes first: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes one visit for most kitchens, while large or complex systems may need more than one, and we clear up before we go. Tell us about any gates, ladders or locked plant areas at your site near Inner Avenue when you book.
- We survey the system, from your photos or on site, canopy to discharge.
- We take grease readings at set points and give you a fixed quote.
- On the night, the equipment is off and cool and the kitchen is sheeted.
- We work through the system from the canopy to the fan and discharge.
- We re-test, photograph and send your certificate and photo report.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
- Have your last certificate or report to hand

Advice
Looking after it afterwards
Here’s the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Book the next clean before the date on the report
- Do not let the canopy gutters overflow
- Keep the cleaning records where you can find them
- Report grease drips, smells or fan noise right away
If we couldn’t get into part of the duct, the report says so plainly. That’s part of an honest TR19 clean, not a failing, and new access panels can be fitted so the next clean covers it.
Regular filter cleaning is the simplest thing a kitchen can do. Clean, well-fitted filters catch more fat before it reaches the duct, so the ductwork stays cleaner for longer.
What we’re called out for in Inner Avenue
It’s common for parts of a duct to have been missed for years. The usual reason is a lack of access panels, so nobody could get to them. Grease in those sections keeps building out of sight.
Look out for these warning signs:
- A system with no record of a TR19 clean
- Heavy grease build-up inside the duct runs
- An inspection that picked up a dirty extract
- Cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey
Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Saint Mary's, or anywhere in Inner Avenue, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.
Questions to ask before you book
- When the next visit should be, and why
- Proof of accreditation you can verify
- How areas they can’t reach will be recorded
- When they can work, and whether that is outside your opening hours
