When it’s something else

We won’t sell you work that does not address the problem, so these are the things it won’t cover:

  • A canopy that is too small or a system that was badly designed
  • A grease trap that needs emptying
  • A duct that is holed or coming apart

If you’re not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on in Caring

  • Vertical risers
  • Horizontal duct runs
  • Plenums and filters
  • Extract fans
  • Canopies and hoods

Kitchen extract cleaning in Caring, done properly

Many insurers ask for proof that the extract has been cleaned to TR19, and a claim can be refused or reduced without it. The certificate and photo report from each clean in Caring give you that record for the maintenance log. Common call-outs are for a kitchen taken over without any extract records and poor airflow at the canopy, across plenums and filters, horizontal duct runs and vertical risers. If you need a kitchen extract clean in Caring, you get one team and one number for every site.

Kitchens that fry and grill hardest need the most frequent cleans, so the interval is set by what you cook as well as how long.

Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, where grease settles in the flat sections. We agree access and timings in advance.

Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

Different parts, different methods

Restaurant and pub kitchens

A pub or restaurant cannot afford to cancel a service for a clean. We work overnight and at weekends where that suits, and hand back a clean kitchen ready to cook.

Ductwork and risers

Risers take the extract up through floors to roof level, and grease runs down their walls and pools at the base. Access panels along the riser let us clean it in sections.

Between visits

Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:

  • Tell us when the extract starts to drip or smell
  • Empty any grease troughs or cups on the canopy
  • Make sure every filter is fitted before cooking
  • Keep to the recommended cleaning interval

The kitchen is left clean and ready for the next service. Grease and dirty water are collected and taken off site, and equipment can be switched back on once we’ve gone.

Wipe the canopy down regularly and empty grease troughs or collection points. It will not replace a TR19 clean, but it slows what reaches the duct.

Why act early in Caring

After a fire, one of the first questions is often when the extract was last cleaned. Many insurers ask for proof of TR19 cleaning and may reduce or refuse a claim without it. A current certificate is far easier to produce than an explanation. A fault that closes a site in a village like Caring affects everyone who depends on it.

We do not list prices on the website, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. For a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos, and we’ll talk you through it.

Why book with us

  • A written report with photos after every visit
  • Fixed quotes, usually within one working day
  • Trading since 2009
  • We diagnose before we treat

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with photos, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.

We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare across Kent. Work can be phased by floor, building or site to keep disruption down.

Questions from Caring

Do you cover smaller places like Caring?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Caring?

That is Kent Fire and Rescue Service. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we’ll propose a schedule with a fixed quote.

Will my insurer ask for a TR19 certificate?

Extract grease is fuel for a kitchen fire, which is why many insurers require TR19 cleaning. Each clean gives you a certificate and photo report to show them.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and we’ll quote them together.

How long does a kitchen extract clean take?

Length of duct, grease levels and access all affect it. As a guide, it takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits.

How much does kitchen extract cleaning cost?

It depends on the site, so we quote each one individually. To get one, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and tell us about the site and its opening hours.

Is a quote from photos possible?

Yes, for many jobs. Send wide shots, close-ups of any access panels and anything that worries you, and a fixed quote normally follows within one working day. If photos are not enough, we’ll survey first.

Kitchen extract cleaning around Caring

Food Standards Agency records list about 14 restaurants, cafés and works canteens and about 6 takeaways within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Caring. Any of them cooking under a canopy is sending grease into its ductwork every service. Kent Fire and Rescue Service covers Caring. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract. Environmental health officers from Maidstone council inspect food businesses in Caring. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready.

School kitchens, at schools like Leeds and Broomfield Church of England Primary School for example, are typically cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost. If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near St Nicholas's Church or elsewhere in Caring, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event. Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Stoneacre is about 0.7 miles south-west), access may need planning.

Caring is about 3 miles east of Maidstone, in Kent. We carry out kitchen extract cleaning for businesses, landlords and public buildings in Caring and the rest of Kent. Caring is one of 922 places in Kent where we work for commercial clients.

We work across ME17 for kitchen extract cleaning and the streets around it. Whether your site is on Caring Lane and Caring Road or anywhere close by, we can help. If your site is just outside Caring, we cover Otham (1 mile south-west), Bearsted (1 mile north-west), Langley (1 mile south), Langley Heath (1 mile south) and Willington (2 miles west). Further out, we also cover Maidstone (3 miles west), Ashford (14 miles south-east), Sittingbourne (9 miles north-east), Gravesend (15 miles north-west), Tonbridge (14 miles west) and Faversham (13 miles east).

Near you in Caring

How the visit works

A visit follows the same order every time: sheeting and protection first, make the system safe, do the work, clear away and leave you the report. On site, the work takes a single shift for most kitchens, with long duct runs and tall risers needing more time. A quick note on how to find the site and where to park makes a visit to Caring run smoothly.

  1. You send photos or we visit, and the system is surveyed from canopy to discharge.
  2. Grease thickness is measured and the price is fixed before work starts.
  3. On the night, the equipment is off and cool and the kitchen is sheeted.
  4. Filters, canopy and plenum are cleaned, then the ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
  5. Readings are repeated, photos taken, and your TR19 certificate and photo report issued.

Advice

What staff can safely do

Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Some jobs should never be done in-house: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. That is our job.
