What affects the cost of kitchen deep cleaning

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • Travel, parking and unloading
  • The number of sites or systems
  • The condition we find in the survey

Several systems or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Mention every system or site you need covered, and you’ll get one fixed quote.

What we need to know

To speed up the quote, please include:

  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • A few general shots of the system
  • The postcode and the type of business

Photos are the quickest way to a quote: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

About our kitchen deep cleaning in The Mint

In The Mint, we fit deep cleans around the hours the kitchen cooks. Most are done overnight, early in the morning or at the weekend, so the kitchen is ready for the next service. School kitchens are often done in the holidays. The work covers floors and floor drains, behind and under equipment and ranges and ovens, and the jobs we see most are floors with grease along the edges and a kitchen getting ready for an environmental health visit.

Work in a small place like The Mint starts with agreeing a date and access.

We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we are fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

The process

Everything the job needs comes with us, from protective sheeting to tools and access equipment. All we need from you is clear access and the right equipment switched off. The visit takes a full shift for most kitchens, longer for a large one. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to The Mint and turn up when the site is quiet.

  1. We start by agreeing which areas and equipment are in the clean.
  2. Equipment is turned off and allowed to cool before anything else happens.
  3. High surfaces are cleaned first so dirt doesn’t fall on clean areas.
  4. The equipment, and the floor and walls around it, are degreased and cleaned.
  5. We finish with the floors and leave the kitchen ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
  • Move anything stored near the system

Getting a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before we start.

Advice

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Some jobs should never be done in-house: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. That’s our job.

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Any of them serving food has a kitchen that collects grease out of sight and drains that need protecting. It’s East Hampshire council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in The Mint. Grease behind equipment or on a ceiling is the kind of thing an inspection can note. A cleaning log that includes deep cleans and grease trap visits shows the work is planned.

Hall kitchens near Hope Church or elsewhere in The Mint may have older sinks and drains, so a grease trap check is worth adding to a deep clean. Multi-site and managed buildings

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

The Mint questions

Can you come to The Mint after we close?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. It means the site in The Mint keeps running as normal. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we will book within them.

Who inspects food businesses in The Mint?

That is East Hampshire council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in The Mint. An officer may look behind equipment and at drains, so it pays to have the deep clean booked before those areas build up.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. You deal with one contact for every site across London and the South East, and visits can be set on a regular cycle.

Do I get a report after the visit?

Yes. You get a written report with photos after each visit, showing what was done, anything we couldn’t reach and when the next visit is due. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, there’s also a certificate issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

How much notice do you need?

Earlier is better, particularly for night and weekend visits. We typically quote within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.

What’s included in a kitchen deep clean?

It covers the full kitchen, from ceiling to floor. The exact list is agreed when we quote, so there are no surprises.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. Every job is surveyed first, from your photos and details, or with a visit where necessary. A fixed quote follows.

What’s TR19?

BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extracts and TR19® Air for supply and extract systems. It isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark.

Aftercare tips

To keep the system working properly between visits:

  • Clean the floor edges, not just the middle
  • Clean behind movable equipment regularly
  • Wipe splashes before they harden
  • Get cracked tiles and damaged surfaces fixed

Once it’s deep cleaned, daily cleaning goes further. Keep on top of the daily routine so build-up stays down.

Grease that’s left only gets harder to remove. A deep clean now saves a much bigger job later and keeps the kitchen in shape for an EHO visit.

Why it’s worth doing now in The Mint

Grease on walls, ceilings and equipment is fuel close to the cooking. Leaving it adds to the fire risk in the kitchen on top of what’s in the ductwork. Deep cleaning removes it. With notice, the visit to The Mint can be fitted around your bookings and events.

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and why the quote is fixed before we start.

Part by part

Canopy exteriors

Canopy surfaces get greasy on the outside as well as inside. We clean the exterior as part of the deep clean.

Behind and under equipment

Food debris behind equipment can attract pests. Clearing it out is a core part of a deep clean.
