Grease trap cleaning in Westridge, Isle of Wight
Grease trap cleaning for commercial sites in Westridge and across the Isle of Wight. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and fully insured.
- A regular cleaning plan for the grease trap
- An overdue grease trap
- A small trap that fills too quickly
What staff can safely do
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that’s where we come in.
Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
Grease trap cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Westridge
A grease trap is the kitchen drain’s first line of protection. Kept clean, it does its job quietly, but neglected, it causes blockages and smells. A regular clean keeps it healthy. The work covers under-sink grease traps, pot wash sinks and restaurants and takeaways, and the jobs we see most are gurgling from the sink waste and a blocked kitchen drain caused by grease.
In rural areas, a kitchen may drain to a private system rather than a public sewer, and fat getting past a grease trap can cause real trouble there.
We have been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we are fully insured.

What a clean will not put right
We will not sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so these are the things it won’t cover:
- A leaking sink waste or trap connection
- Blockages in the public sewer beyond the property
- A trap undersized for the amount of cooking
Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will tell you honestly before you book.
What the work covers
- Under-sink grease traps
- Kitchen waste pipes
- Inline grease traps
- Restaurants and takeaways
- School and care home kitchens
- Pot wash sinks
Between visits
No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. Our tips:
- Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up
- Tell us if your menu or hours change
- Never pour used oil down the sink
- Do not wait for a blockage to book a clean
Once the trap is cleaned and refitted, the sinks can be used right away. We run water through to check it drains before we leave.
A fixed cleaning interval means the trap never gets overfull. The interval is set to suit the trap and the kitchen.
Why act early in Westridge
Grease that leaves the kitchen ends up somewhere. It adds to blockages further down the drains and sewer. Keeping it in the trap, and emptying the trap, is the responsible thing to do. If the system at a site near Westridge fails, there may be nowhere nearby to move to.
A single site or a whole portfolio, we price it on the same basis: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. You’ll have a fixed price before work begins.

Grease trap cleaning around Westridge
Food Standards Agency data counts about 34 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 14 takeaways and sandwich shops in Westridge and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Kitchens like these wash fat, oil and grease down the sink every day, and a grease trap is what stops it reaching the sewer. Food hygiene inspections in Westridge are the job of Isle of Wight council’s environmental health team. Walls, floors, ceilings and equipment are all part of what they look at. Keeping a record of deep cleans and grease trap visits helps at inspection time.
Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Gosport War Memorial Hospital (about 5.5 miles north), cook for long hours, so deep cleans and grease trap work are planned around patients’ meals. If you run a kitchen near Smallbrook Junction station with long trading hours, grease builds up faster behind equipment and in the trap. Half-term is a good time for school kitchens, at schools like Oakfield Church of England Aided Primary School for instance, to have the grease trap emptied and the kitchen deep cleaned.
Westridge is about 1 mile south-east of Ryde, in the Isle of Wight. From the centre of Westridge to the outskirts, we cover grease trap cleaning for every kind of premises, from a single unit to a large public building. Westridge is one of 125 places in the Isle of Wight we cover for commercial clients. Portsmouth is in our area too, about 7 miles from Westridge.
Work in PO33 follows the same survey, fixed quote and written report as everywhere else we cover. If you need grease trap cleaning at premises on Bullen Road, Hayward Avenue and Salisbury Road or a nearby road, we can help. Westridge is on the A3055, so it’s easy for us to get to for out-of-hours visits. If your site is just outside Westridge, we cover Elmfield (1 mile north), Oakfield (1 mile north-west), Appley (1 mile north), Pondwell (1 mile east) and Puckpool (1 mile north-east). Further out, we also cover Newport (7 miles west), Cowes (8 miles north-west), Sandown (4 miles south), Shanklin (6 miles south), Ventnor (9 miles south) and East Cowes (7 miles north-west). Island and remote sites take a little more planning, so tell us where you are when you ask for a quote for grease trap cleaning.

Can the work in Westridge be done at night or at weekends?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. The site is handed back ready to open. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.
Can school kitchens in Westridge be cleaned in the holidays?
Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. Around Westridge, the Food Standards Agency lists about 10 schools and colleges with registered kitchens within a mile and a half or so. Booking early in the term gives the best choice of holiday dates.
Are you accredited?
CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We have been trading since 2009 and we are fully insured.
How far ahead should we book?
It depends on the time you need and how big the job is. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.
What is TR19?
TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, to suit the system and how it’s used.
Are you insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured, and the details are available on request.
What if parts of the system can’t be reached?
Anything we cannot reach goes on the report, with a note of where it is, and we tell you what would make it reachable, such as extra access panels in ductwork.
What happens on the day
There are three stages on the day: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, and the sign-off is a written report with pictures. The middle part takes longest, which takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit. A few photos of the system help us make the most of a visit to a place like Westridge.
- We agree a time when the sinks are not needed.
- The trap is opened up and checked.
- Built-up grease and food waste are taken out.
- The inside, baffles and outlet are cleaned.
- We close it up, check it drains and suggest when it needs cleaning again.
Preparing for the visit
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
- Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
Getting a quote
Quotes are quick. Call or email with a few details and you will usually have a fixed price within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.
Related advice
For landlords and multi-site operators
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.
Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: diagnosis, a fixed price, work booked around your hours and a written report with photos.
What the work involves, part by part
Restaurant and takeaway kitchens
We time visits to avoid service so you do not lose trade.
Baffles and outlets
The baffles hold back grease while water flows on. Grease clings to them so they’re cleaned every time.
