About our grease trap cleaning in East Cowes

Smells from the sink, gurgling drains or slow drainage all point to the grease trap. We find the trap, empty it and clean it, then check the water flows properly. Common call-outs are for drains clogged with fat and a slow-draining kitchen sink, on kitchen waste pipes, restaurants and takeaways and school and care home kitchens.

For a kitchen near East Cowes, deep cleans are booked around opening hours, often on a closed day, and the journey is planned ahead.

We’ve been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we are fully insured.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

Keeping the system healthy

Here’s the after-treatment advice, in brief:

  • Avoid pouring boiling water down to shift grease
  • Don’t wait for a blockage to book a clean
  • Get food waste into the bin, not the sink
  • Collect waste cooking oil separately

You’ll get our view on how often the trap needs cleaning. It’s based on how full it was and how much the kitchen cooks.

If the sinks are slow or smelly, the trap may be full. Acting at this stage usually prevents a blockage later.

Honest limits

Before you book, it helps to know what’s not included:

  • A trap undersized for the amount of cooking
  • Collapsed or damaged drains, which need a drainage contractor
  • Leaking pipework or sink wastes, which need a plumber

If you’re not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Under-sink grease traps
  • Inline grease traps
  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Pot wash sinks
  • School and care home kitchens

Why act early in East Cowes

A full grease trap lets grease through to the drains. It hardens on the pipe walls, until the drain blocks. Regular trap cleaning beats dealing with a blockage. Systems on quieter sites still build up dirt and wear, just more slowly.

Working hours, access and the scale of the site can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before work begins.

The process

Everything the job needs comes with us, from protective sheeting to tools and access equipment. All we need from you is clear access and the right equipment switched off. On site, the work takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit. In a smaller place like East Cowes, parking is rarely the issue, but tell us about gates, roof access and opening hours.

  1. We agree a time when the sinks aren’t needed.
  2. We open the trap and look at its condition.
  3. Built-up grease and food waste are taken out.
  4. We clean the baffles, inlet and outlet.
  5. The trap is closed, tested and the next clean discussed.

How to prepare

  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Move anything stored near the system

How to get a quote

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.

Advice

FAQs for East Cowes

Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in East Cowes?

Kitchens in East Cowes are inspected by Isle of Wight council’s environmental health officers. Keep the dates of your last deep clean and grease trap visit with your food safety records, ready if an officer asks.

Can you work in school kitchens in East Cowes during the holidays?

Yes, holiday work suits schools best. With about 4 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of East Cowes, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. Booking early in the term gives the best choice of holiday dates.

How long does a grease trap clean take?

The size and state of the trap make the difference, but a clean generally takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit. You’ll know before the visit.

Will the grease trap clean disrupt the kitchen?

While the trap is being cleaned, nothing can drain into it. We book the visit around your service so the kitchen is not held up.

What does a grease trap clean cost?

Every trap is different, so we quote once we know what you have. We give you a fixed price, normally within one working day.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

Protection goes down first: sheeting over floors, worktops and anything close to the work. The area is left tidy, with our waste taken away.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. One number covers all your sites across London and the South East, and visits can be set on a regular cycle.

Can you clear our blocked drains as well?

A trap clean removes the grease in the trap and that may solve a slow drain caused by the trap. Blockages further down the drain, or damaged pipework, need a drainage contractor.

What affects the cost of grease trap cleaning

We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:

  • The number of sites or systems
  • What state the system is in
  • The size of the system
  • Working hours and out-of-hours timing

Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.

Asking for a quote

A few details help us quote accurately. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
  • The site address and the type of premises

For a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. You will typically have a quote within one working day.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Every visit ends with a dated report and pictures, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.

When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party, and the report can go to both.
