- Drains clogged with fat
Grease trap cleaning in Radley, done properly
Grease trap cleaning keeps the drains running and the smells away. The fat, oil, grease and solids are taken out, clean the inside and the baffles and the trap checked before we leave. If you have a slow-draining kitchen sink and an under-sink unit that needs regular emptying, we can help, from under-sink grease traps, kitchen waste pipes and pot wash sinks onwards.
In rural areas, a kitchen may drain to a private system rather than a public sewer, so keeping fat out with a working grease trap matters even more.
It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

Common problems we fix in Radley
Hot washing-up water keeps grease liquid for a while. When it cools, the grease hardens in the pipework or the drain.
Clients usually contact us after spotting one of these:
- Sinks that drain slowly
- A grease trap that hasn’t been emptied in a long time
- A blocked kitchen drain caused by grease
- An inline trap or interceptor due for cleaning
Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Littlemore Hospital (about 2.3 miles north), cook for long hours, so deep cleans and grease trap work are planned around patients’ meals.
What to look for in a quote
- When the next visit should be, and why
- Whether VAT is included
- What’s included in the scope, part by part
- What happens if part of the system cannot be accessed
Honest limits
We’ll always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what this work can’t put right:
- Blockages in the public sewer beyond the property
- Drains that need jetting rather than trap cleaning
- A grease trap that’s too small for the kitchen
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Busy kitchens cannot afford a blocked drain. Regular trap cleaning helps prevent it.
What grease trap cleaning looks like in Radley
Look up Radley on the FSA’s food hygiene register and you will find about 4 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens and about 6 takeaways and sandwich shops across Radley and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Fat from washing up sets hard in pipes, and kitchens like these produce plenty of it. It’s Vale of White Horse council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Radley. An inspection covers the structure of the kitchen as well as the food. Photos and dates from each deep clean make a useful record. About 51 miles out from central London, Radley is part of the South East area we work across. Evening, overnight and weekend visits are all possible.
Hall kitchens near Church of St James or elsewhere in Radley may have older sinks and drains, so a grease trap check is worth adding to a deep clean. If you serve passing trade near Radley station, a grease trap on a regular schedule keeps the drains running through busy weeks.

Multi-site and managed buildings
The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works and we will come back with a fixed quote.
What staff can safely do
When your team notices a problem between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that will not come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We’ll take a look and send you a fixed quote.
A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.
Common questions in Radley
Is Radley within the area you cover?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Radley included. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.
Which environmental health team covers Radley?
The local authority for Radley is Vale of White Horse council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. Inspection results feed into the food hygiene rating published by the Food Standards Agency.
Can one contract cover all our sites?
Yes. You deal with one contact for every site in our area, and visits can be set on a regular cycle.
Do you provide a certificate or report?
Yes. It’s the record insurers and inspectors ask to see: a written, dated record with photos of what we did and anything we couldn’t access.
Can you give me a price for grease trap cleaning?
We price it once we know the trap and how often it needs cleaning. Just ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll quote before any work starts.
Where does the waste go?
We contain it and take it with us. Grease, debris and waste water are collected as the work goes on, so it does not spread.
How do you protect the area?
By covering it before any work starts. We keep the work contained and leave the area clean.
Are you insured?
Yes. Duct Doctor is fully insured, and the details are available on request.
Why it’s worth doing now in Radley

When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before work begins.

What we do, step by step
Everything the job needs comes with us, from protective sheeting to tools and access equipment. All we need from you is clear access and the right equipment switched off. The visit takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Radley and turn up when the site is quiet.
- We find the trap and check how it’s connected.
- We ask for the sinks that drain into the trap not to be used.
- Built-up fat, oil and grease is removed from the trap.
- We clean the chambers, baffles and connections.
- The trap is reassembled, checked for leaks and the waste taken away.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear the space around the work
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
