How we handle grease trap cleaning in Prittlewell
A clean trap means flowing drains and no foul smells. We empty the built-up grease and food solids and the chambers and baffles cleaned, and check the trap is working properly. Common call-outs are for a larger grease trap that needs emptying and foul odours from the grease trap, across school and care home kitchens, inline grease traps and under-sink grease traps.
Kitchens in a town like Prittlewell often book a deep clean alongside their extract clean, so the whole kitchen is done in one closure.
We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we are fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

For landlords and multi-site operators
Whether it’s one building or many, the standard is the same: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.
When the building owner and the occupier are different, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We’re happy to deal with either side and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.

Keeping the system healthy
To keep the system working properly between visits:
- Tell us if your menu or hours change
- Don’t wait for a blockage to book a clean
- Don’t store things on top of the trap
- Keep strainers in every sink
We’ll suggest when the trap should be cleaned again. It’s based on how full it was and how busy the kitchen is.
A trap that is left too long stops catching grease. Regular emptying keeps it working and saves a call-out for a blocked drain.
Prittlewell: your questions answered
Can the work in Prittlewell be done at night or at weekends?
Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. Your customers, staff or residents in Prittlewell needn’t be disturbed. Just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line with your opening times and we’ll plan around them.
Who inspects food businesses in Prittlewell?
In Prittlewell, it’s Southend-On-Sea council that carries out food hygiene inspections. Photos from a deep clean are a simple record of what was done and when.
Where does the waste go?
It leaves the site with us at the end of the visit. While we work, it’s kept contained so the area stays clean.
What problems does a full grease trap cause?
An overfull trap stops separating grease. Slow drains, bad smells and blockages follow.
What’s the right interval for grease trap cleaning?
There’s no single answer. The interval depends on how quickly your trap fills and we will advise on timing.
Does the report say when we need you again?
Yes. The report recommends when the next visit should be, based on what we found and how the system is used.
Is Prittlewell in your area?
Yes. We work across Greater London, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and that includes Prittlewell.
Who is the responsible person?
The law calls them the responsible person. That’s generally the employer or the person in control of the premises, and where several people have control, each can have duties. If you’re not sure, check your lease and fire risk assessment.
What the work involves, part by part
Inline grease traps
Inline traps may be under a floor panel or in a cupboard. We check how to reach it before the visit.
Restaurant and takeaway kitchens
A blocked drain in a busy kitchen can stop service. Regular trap cleaning helps prevent it.
What affects the cost of grease trap cleaning
The price is fixed before any work begins. It’s based on:
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- Where the site is and how we reach it
- Site rules, permits and inductions
A single site or a whole portfolio, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the timing. You’ll have a fixed price before work begins.
Helping us quote
To speed up the quote, send us:
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- The postcode and the type of business
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your photos and details or, where that is not enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price, before work begins.

When to call us in Prittlewell
Fats, oils and grease from cooking and washing up go down the sink. In the trap, they cool and separate and the grease layer grows.
Look out for these warning signs:
- Gurgling from the sink waste
- Sinks that drain slowly
- An under-sink unit that needs regular emptying
- An overdue grease trap
Hall kitchens near Church of St Mary or elsewhere in Prittlewell may have older sinks and drains, so a grease trap check is worth adding to a deep clean.
What your quote should include
- Whether the work can be done while the site is closed
- Which accreditations they hold, and whether you can check them
- How they set the interval to the next visit
- What paperwork you get at the end
What grease trap cleaning can’t fix
We will always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what this work can’t put right:
- Drains that are cracked or have collapsed
- A trap undersized for the amount of cooking
- Blockages in the public sewer beyond the property
If you are not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will give you a straight answer.
Parts of the system we cover
- School and care home kitchens
- Kitchen waste pipes
- Restaurants and takeaways
- Pot wash sinks
- Inline grease traps
- Under-sink grease traps
How the visit works
We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool first, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. The work itself takes less than an hour for many under-sink units. Send us pictures of the system and we can plan most of a visit in Prittlewell before we arrive.
- We locate the trap and check how it’s fitted.
- Sinks feeding the trap are taken out of use.
- We empty out the fat, oil, grease and solids.
- The chambers and baffles are cleaned.
- We refit it, run water through and remove the waste.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know about parking and loading
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
