Grease trap cleaning in Patching

Every trap is different. Under-sink traps are compact and need frequent attention, while inline traps and interceptors hold more. We assess the trap and how fast it fills and suggest an interval that suits. Common call-outs are for an inline trap or interceptor due for cleaning and grease setting in the kitchen pipework, on kitchen waste pipes, under-sink grease traps and pot wash sinks.

Work in a small place like Patching starts with agreeing a date and access.

We have been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

What a clean won’t put right

We’d rather tell you now than book work that won’t help, so these are the things it won’t cover:

  • A leaking sink waste or trap connection
  • Broken pipework below ground

If you are not sure, just call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Fixed quotes for grease trap cleaning in Patching

Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:

  • Site rules, permits and inductions
  • The condition we find in the survey
  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • The number of sites or systems

A single site or a whole portfolio, we price it on the same basis: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before we start.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can send:

  • The site address and the type of premises
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site

Here’s what helps us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, pictures of the system and any previous report or certificate. Once you have those, call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.

Multi-site and managed buildings

When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We’re happy to deal with either side, and the report can go to both.

If you look after several sites, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so records stay tidy.

What staff can safely do

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that is where we come in.

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.

Your questions about grease trap cleaning in Patching

Do you work in school kitchens around Patching out of term?

Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. The FSA’s register shows about 4 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Patching. Just phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with your term dates and we will plan around them.

Will you come out to Patching?

Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and Patching is covered. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.

Do you deal with blocked drains beyond the grease trap?

It depends where the blockage is. If the trap is full, cleaning it often helps but grease set further down the drains needs jetting by a drainage specialist.

Where does the waste go?

It’s contained and taken away. We collect grease, debris and waste water as we go rather than letting it spread.

What’s TR19?

TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.

Which sectors do you work in?

Commercial premises of every kind: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. We fit the work around how the site operates.

What do you do with the waste?

We remove all the waste we take out. It isn’t poured back down the drain at any point.

How much notice should we give?

The more notice, the better, especially for out-of-hours work. We normally quote within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.

What grease trap cleaning looks like in Patching

Look up Patching on the FSA’s food hygiene register and you’ll find about 3 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens across Patching and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Wherever they wash pans and plates, fat heads for the drain unless a trap catches it. In Patching, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Arun council. The state of floors, drains and hard-to-reach corners all feeds into the inspection. Having the dates of the last deep clean to hand saves digging for them on the day.

If you run event catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Ecclesden Manor is about 1.5 miles south-west), a deep clean before or after the busy season is worth planning. For schools such as Clapham and Patching CofE Primary School, deep cleans and grease trap work are usually booked for the holidays. Hall kitchens near The Parish Church of St John the Divine or elsewhere in Patching may have older sinks and drains, so a grease trap check is worth adding to a deep clean.

Keeping the system healthy

Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:

  • Hot water only moves grease further down
  • Tell us when sinks start draining slowly
  • Never pour used oil down the sink
  • Book trap cleans at a set interval

Collect waste cooking oil separately rather than pouring it down the sink, and the trap will stay cleaner for longer. It’s the single easiest way to help.

Setting regular cleans takes the guesswork out. We agree the timing with you.

Leave it or put it right?

Grease that gets past the trap does not disappear. It can build up in the drains and join fatbergs in the sewer. A well-maintained trap keeps it where it can be removed. With notice, the visit to Patching can be fitted around your bookings and events.

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and why the quote is fixed before work begins.

What happens on the day

Each visit runs to the same pattern: protect the area, make the system safe, carry out the grease trap cleaning, tidy up and leave you the report. On site, the work takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap. If the van will struggle with a lane or gateway near Patching, let us know and we will plan around it.

  1. First, we find the trap and look at its connections.
  2. Sinks feeding the trap are taken out of use.
  3. Grease and solids are removed from the trap.
  4. We clean every part of the inside.
  5. We refit it, run water through and remove the waste.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
