Lidsey grease trap cleaning
Emptying and cleaning of under-sink and inline grease traps in commercial kitchens for Lidsey, with a survey first and a report with photos at the end. Ask us for a fixed quote.
- A regular cleaning plan for the grease trap
- A kitchen drain that smells
- An under-sink trap that keeps filling up
How we handle grease trap cleaning in Lidsey
Smells from the sink, gurgling drains or slow drainage all point to the grease trap. In Lidsey, as everywhere we work, our team empties and cleans the trap and run water through to check it drains. The work covers kitchen waste pipes, under-sink grease traps and inline grease traps, and common reasons people get in touch are a grease trap that hasn’t been emptied in a long time and an under-sink trap that keeps filling up.
Rural kitchens may drain to a septic tank or a private drain rather than straight into a public sewer, and fat getting past a grease trap can cause real trouble there.
It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, alongside our reports.
When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We will take a look and send you a fixed quote.
Why it’s worth doing now in Lidsey
Wherever the kitchen is in Lidsey, backed-up drains stop it working. Sinks will not empty, and dirty water can back up. Keeping the trap clean reduces the risk. Out of sight is the usual reason a rural system goes too long without attention.
Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we will go through it with you.

When it’s something else
To be straight with you, there are a few things this work won’t fix:
- Leaking pipework or sink wastes, which need a plumber
- Drains that are cracked or have collapsed
- Blockages further down the drainage network
If you are not sure, just call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We are happy to deal with either side and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.
If you look after several sites, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so records stay tidy.
Part by part
Restaurant and takeaway kitchens
Busy kitchens cannot afford a blocked drain. Regular trap cleaning helps prevent it.
Grease interceptors
Interceptors take longer to clean and we allow for that.
Lidsey: your questions answered
Is Lidsey within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Can a school kitchen in Lidsey be done out of term time?
Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. Food Standards Agency records list about 11 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Lidsey. Booking early in the term gives the best choice of holiday dates.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line, and we’ll advise on what to do next.
Do you look at the system first?
Yes. For many sites, photos and a few details are enough, and larger or hidden systems get a visit.
Which kinds of sites do you work on?
Commercial premises of every kind: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. We fit the work around how the site operates.
How much notice should we give?
For planned work, earlier is better, particularly if your next visit is nearly due. For emergencies, we take calls 24/7.
Are you accredited?
We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. The Vent Hygiene Elite scheme is run by BESCA and audited independently.
Where does the grease from the trap go?
We remove all the waste we take out. It isn’t poured back down the drain at any point.
What happens on the day
Night work is normal for us. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so the site can open as normal afterwards. The visit itself takes less than an hour for many under-sink units. The timing of a visit to Lidsey is set by you, and the travel is our side of the planning.
- We find the trap and check how it’s connected.
- We ask for the sinks that drain into the trap not to be used.
- We take out the layer of fat, oil and grease and any solids.
- Every part of the trap is scraped and cleaned, including the baffles.
- We put it back together, run water through and remove the waste.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us where we can park and unload
- Move anything stored near the system
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
Getting a quote
We do not publish a price list, because every site is different. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To get going, call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.
Related advice
Between visits
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. A few tips:
- Never pour used oil down the sink
- Wipe grease off pans before washing them
- Keep the grease trap on a regular cleaning schedule
- Mention any increase in cooking
You will get our view on how often the trap needs cleaning. That depends on how quickly it filled and how busy the kitchen is.
If the sinks are slow or smelly, the trap may be full. Acting at this stage usually prevents a blockage later.
Commercial kitchens in Lidsey
According to Food Standards Agency records, there are about 4 pubs, bars and clubs in Lidsey and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Wherever they cook, the kitchen and its drains need the same attention as a restaurant’s. Environmental health officers from Arun council inspect food businesses in Lidsey. The state of floors, drains and hard-to-reach corners all feeds into the inspection. Keeping a record of deep cleans and grease trap visits helps at inspection time.
Half-term is a good time for school kitchens, at schools like Aldingbourne Primary School for instance, to have the grease trap emptied and the kitchen deep cleaned. If you cater for weddings or events at a historic house in the area (Goodwood House is about 4.9 miles north-west), deep cleans can be fitted between bookings. Hall and church kitchens, near The Parish Church of St Mary or anywhere around Lidsey, are used by many hands, and periodic deep cleans and grease trap visits keep them in order.
