Grease trap cleaning across Langney

Different parts, different methods

Under-sink grease traps

Under-sink traps are compact units fitted below the kitchen sink. They fill quickly, so they need frequent emptying.

School, care home and staff kitchens

Drains in care settings need to keep flowing. We fit visits around mealtimes.

Grease trap cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Langney

Every trap is different. Under-sink units are small and fill quickly and larger traps hold more grease before they fill. We look at the trap, how much the kitchen uses it and how quickly it fills before suggesting how often it needs cleaning. We are often asked to deal with scheduled grease trap emptying and a slow-draining kitchen sink, across under-sink grease traps, school and care home kitchens and kitchen waste pipes.

Around a place like Langney, deep clean work tends to mean pubs, cafés and school or care home kitchens. A smaller kitchen still builds up grease where everyday cleaning does not reach.

We’ve been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

Honest limits

Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:

  • A unit that cannot cope with the kitchen’s output
  • Blockages further down the drainage network
  • Grease deep in the drains, which needs jetting by a drainage contractor

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Inline grease traps
  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Pot wash sinks
  • Under-sink grease traps
  • School and care home kitchens
  • Restaurants and takeaways

What staff can safely do

When your team notices a problem between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that will not come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We will take a look and give you a fixed quote.

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Keeping the system healthy

Results last longer with the right care. We suggest:

  • Do not rely on hot water to clear grease
  • Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up
  • Collect waste cooking oil separately
  • Let us know if the kitchen gets busier

Collect waste cooking oil separately rather than pouring it down the sink and the trap won’t fill as quickly. It makes a real difference.

A fixed cleaning interval means the trap never gets overfull. The interval is set to suit the trap and the kitchen.

What grease trap cleaning looks like in Langney

The FSA’s food hygiene register includes about 8 bars, pubs and nightclubs in and around Langney, up to about a mile and a half out. Wherever food is prepared there, a periodic deep clean and a clear grease trap keep things in order. In Langney, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Eastbourne council. They look at the cleanliness of the whole kitchen: walls, floors, ceilings and equipment. A record of each deep clean helps show the kitchen is kept in order.

If you run a care home or healthcare kitchen near Langney (the nearest hospital is Eastbourne District General Hospital, about 2.3 miles south-west), a grease trap on a set schedule avoids a blocked drain mid-service. Hall kitchens near St. Richard or elsewhere in Langney may have older sinks and drains, so a grease trap check is worth adding to a deep clean. For schools such as Langney Primary Academy, deep cleans and grease trap work are typically booked for the holidays.

Langney: your questions answered

Can you come to Langney after we close?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. The work in Langney can fit around your hours. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we’ll book within them.

Do you work in villages like Langney?

Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and Langney is covered. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.

Can you give me a price for grease trap cleaning?

Every trap is different, so we quote once we know what you have. We give you a fixed price, typically within one working day.

What’s the right interval for grease trap cleaning?

It varies. We look at how full the trap is and how quickly it fills and we will advise on timing.

Is TR19 cleaning required by law?

Not in itself. Insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to TR19® as the benchmark, and many insurance policies ask for proof of TR19® cleaning. The legal duty sits in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in England and Wales.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. Every job is surveyed first, from your pictures and details, or with a visit where needed. A fixed quote follows.

What accreditations do you have?

BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. We’re fully insured and have been trading since 2009.

How much notice do you need?

Book as early as you can for planned work, particularly if your next visit is nearly due. For emergencies, we take calls 24/7.

The process

There’s very little for your team to do on the day. Someone lets us in at the agreed time and shows us where everything is, and we take it from there. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. Tell us when your site near Langney is quiet and the visit will be booked for then.

  1. A visit is booked around your service.
  2. The trap is opened up and checked.
  3. We remove the grease layer and settled solids.
  4. The inside, baffles and outlet are cleaned.
  5. We close it up, check it drains and suggest when it needs cleaning again.

How to prepare

  • Clear loose items from the work area
  • Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend

How to get a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

How we price grease trap cleaning

A fixed price needs a few facts first. We look at:

  • Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • The number of sites or systems

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and why the quote is fixed before work begins.

What to send for a quote

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:

  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • The site address and the type of premises

For a fixed quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. A few pictures and your last certificate or report help a lot. You will usually have a quote within one working day.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we’re happy to quote for all of it.

Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with photos, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.
