Grease trap cleaning near Jenkins' Green

Multi-site and managed buildings

If you look after several sites, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so each one has its own record.

Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We’re happy to deal with either side and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.

Grease trap cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Jenkins' Green

Fats, oils and grease are the main cause of blocked kitchen drains. Further on, grease can build into fatbergs in the sewer. A well-maintained trap keeps them out of the drains. We are often asked to deal with grease setting in the kitchen pipework and a small trap that fills too quickly, across pot wash sinks, under-sink grease traps and inline grease traps.

Somewhere as small as Jenkins' Green, the kitchens that need a deep clean are usually a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Wherever there is one, it needs its grease trap and hard-to-reach areas kept clean.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a dated report with photos of the work, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. It shows what was done and what, if anything, couldn’t be reached.

What the work involves, part by part

Grease interceptors

Grease interceptors are larger units that serve busier kitchens. With more capacity, they fill more slowly but they still need cleaning.

Restaurant and takeaway kitchens

Busy kitchens cannot afford a blocked drain. Regular trap cleaning helps prevent it.

Jenkins' Green questions

Do you work in villages like Jenkins' Green?

Yes, Jenkins' Green is part of our area, however small the site. A survey first, from pictures or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Jenkins' Green?

Kitchens in Jenkins' Green are inspected by Wealden council’s environmental health officers. Inspection results feed into the food hygiene rating published by the Food Standards Agency.

Do we need to stop using the sinks while you work?

While the trap is being cleaned, nothing can drain into it. We book the visit around your service so the kitchen is not held up.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, to suit the system and how it’s used.

Does the report say when we need you again?

Yes. We put a recommended next date on the report. For kitchen extracts, BESA’s minimum intervals run from every 3 months for heavy use to every 12 months for light use, while fire dampers are tested at least annually.

How much notice do you need?

That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.

Do you clean under-sink and inline grease traps?

We cover under-sink, inline and interceptor units. They’re emptied, cleaned and checked in the same careful way.

What accreditations do you have?

Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

When it’s something else

Some problems need a different service or another trade:

  • Blockages in the public sewer beyond the property
  • Grease deep in the drains, which needs jetting by a drainage contractor
  • Collapsed or damaged drains, which need a drainage contractor

If you’re not sure, just phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Where we work

  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Pot wash sinks
  • Inline grease traps
  • School and care home kitchens
  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • Under-sink grease traps

How the visit works

We start by comparing what we find with the survey or your pictures. If anything is different, we talk it through with the person on site before carrying on. After that, the work takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Jenkins' Green before we set off.

  1. First, we find the trap and look at its connections.
  2. We make sure nothing drains into the trap.
  3. Grease and solids are removed from the trap.
  4. The chambers and baffles are cleaned.
  5. The trap is refitted, tested with water and the waste taken away.

Preparing for the visit

  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site
  • Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas

Advice

Fixed quotes for grease trap cleaning in Jenkins' Green

The diagnosis comes before the price. We look at:

  • The scale of the work
  • What state the system is in
  • Working hours and out-of-hours timing
  • Any permits to work or inductions

Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, which can make the next visit longer. If you’re not sure what’s needed, call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

What to send for a quote

To speed up the quote, send us:

  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to

Here’s what helps us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, a few photos and any previous report or certificate. Then ring 0345 646 2711 or email us.

What your team can do, and what needs us

If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that won’t come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.

Between visits

So the system stays in good health:

  • Let us know if the kitchen gets busier
  • Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up
  • Keep waste oil out of the drains
  • Use strainers in the sink plugholes

We take the grease and solids away. Nothing is left for you to dispose of after the visit.

More cooking means more grease in the trap. Booking cleans more often stops it overflowing.
