About our grease trap cleaning in Horam
If the sinks drain slowly or smell, the trap is often the cause. In Horam, as everywhere we work, our team empties and cleans the trap, then check the water flows properly. If you are dealing with a grease trap that hasn’t been emptied in a long time and an under-sink trap that keeps filling up, we can put it right.
Somewhere as small as Horam, the kitchens that need a deep clean are normally a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Wherever there is one, it needs its grease trap and hard-to-reach areas kept clean.
Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

Horam: your questions answered
Do you work in villages like Horam?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.
Which council inspects kitchens in Horam?
That’s Wealden council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Horam. Photos from a deep clean are a simple record of what was done and when.
Does the report say when we need you again?
Yes. The report recommends when the next visit should be, based on use and what we found.
Why does a grease trap need regular cleaning?
Grease and food waste build up until the trap stops working. The result is slow drains, foul odours and eventually a blockage.
How much notice should we give?
Earlier is better, especially for out-of-hours work. We normally quote within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.
Can you give me a price for grease trap cleaning?
We price it once we know the trap and how often it needs cleaning. Just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will quote before any work starts.
Do you take the waste away?
We take the grease and solids away with us. You’re not left with anything to dispose of after the visit.
What paperwork should we keep on file?
Every certificate and report from each visit, kept together in your maintenance log, along with your own cleaning log. BESA says certificates should show the date, location and technician.
Common problems we fix in Horam
Waste cooking oil poured down the sink fills a grease trap far faster than washing-up. Even small amounts add up.
Most sites get in touch after spotting something like this:
- A larger grease trap that needs emptying
- A blocked kitchen drain caused by grease
- A small trap that fills too quickly
- A grease trap that hasn’t been emptied in a long time
Where a church or community hall near Christ Church, or anywhere in Horam, has a kitchen used by volunteers, a periodic deep clean keeps it ready for the next event.
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether the price is fixed
- Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach
- Whether they recommend a next date
- What happens if part of the system can’t be accessed
What affects the quote in Horam
Every site gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:
- Parking and loading at the site
- How big the system is
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before any work starts.
Asking for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. Just send:
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
Need a price for grease trap cleaning? Please call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and tell us about the site. We will talk you through the work and send you a fixed quote before anything is booked.
Why deal with it now?
A dirty grease trap smells. Decomposing waste in the trap smells bad and the smell carries. Cleaning it removes the cause. Systems in rural buildings are often out of sight and out of mind.
Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.

What we do, step by step
Night work is normal for us. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap. Seeing the system in photos first means the trip to Horam can be planned properly.
- We find the trap and check how it’s connected.
- The sinks feeding the trap are kept out of use while we work.
- The trap is emptied of grease and food waste.
- The inside, baffles and pipe connections are cleaned.
- We put it back together, run water through and remove the waste.
Preparing for the visit
- Have your last certificate or report to hand
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Clear the space around the work
Getting a quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in photos, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before we start.
Advice
Multi-site and managed buildings
Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with photos, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.
Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.
Grease trap cleaning around Horam
Look up Horam on the FSA’s food hygiene register and you will find about 3 restaurants, cafés and canteens in Horam and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Kitchens like these wash fat, oil and grease down the sink every day, and a grease trap is what stops it reaching the sewer. Food hygiene inspections in Horam are the job of Wealden council’s environmental health team. The state of floors, drains and hard-to-reach corners all feeds into the inspection. Keeping a record of deep cleans and grease trap visits helps at inspection time. We cover Horam, about 42 miles from central London, as part of our work across London and the South East. A survey and a fixed quote come first, then the visit at a time that suits you.
If you run event catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Horselunges Manor is about 3.2 miles south), a deep clean before or after the busy season is worth planning. For schools such as Maynards Green Community Primary School, deep cleans and grease trap work are normally booked for the holidays.

Local landmarks in Horam
Typical jobs here are in premises near Horam Inn and the streets around them. Other landmarks nearby include Sussex Farm Museum (under half a mile north-west) and Hellingly Hospital Railway (3.1 miles south). Not far away are Selwyns Wood.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.
