How we handle grease trap cleaning in Hainault
Grease trap cleaning keeps the drains running and the smells away. The fat, oil, grease and solids are taken out and the chambers and baffles cleaned, and check the trap is working properly. We’re often asked to deal with a small trap that fills too quickly and a grease trap that hasn’t been emptied in a long time, across restaurants and takeaways, school and care home kitchens and pot wash sinks.
Work in a smaller place like Hainault is planned around your opening hours.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works, and we’ll send a fixed quote.
Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.
What grease trap cleaning looks like in Hainault
The FSA’s food hygiene register includes about 20 bars, pubs and nightclubs within about 1.5 miles of central Hainault. Where they run a kitchen, it needs the same deep cleaning and grease trap care as any restaurant. It’s Redbridge council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Hainault. They look at the cleanliness of the whole kitchen: walls, floors, ceilings and equipment. Having the dates of the last deep clean to hand saves digging for them on the day.
For schools such as Limes Farm Junior School, deep cleans and grease trap work are usually booked for the holidays. If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near St Francis of Assisi or elsewhere in Hainault, a deep clean and an emptied grease trap before a busy season of events are worth booking. If you run event catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Valentines Mansion is about 2.4 miles south-west), a deep clean before or after the busy season is worth planning.
Hainault is about 2 miles east of Woodford, in Essex. Across the IG6 area, we cover grease trap cleaning for commercial sites. Across Essex, we cover 644 places, Hainault among them. You can also see our page for London, about 11 miles away.
Grease trap cleaning in IG6, IG7 and IG8 is surveyed, quoted and booked the same way as anywhere else. You will find streets such as Hughes Road, Neville Road and Addison Road, and we cover them all for grease trap cleaning. We also cover Chigwell (1 mile north-west), Woodford Bridge (1 mile west), Woodford Wells (2 miles west), Woodford (2 miles west) and Buckhurst Hill (3 miles north-west). We also work in nearby towns such as Harlow (12 miles north), Brentwood (9 miles east), Billericay (15 miles east), Loughton (3 miles north), Waltham Abbey (7 miles north-west) and Epping (7 miles north).
Near you in Hainault
Locally, jobs take us to businesses close to Fairlop Waters, The New Fairlop Oak pub and Kantor King Solomon High School. For rail, the closest station is Seven Kings station, roughly 2.8 miles south of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Redbridge Museum (3.2 miles south) and Claybury Hospital (0.8 miles west). Not far away are Highams Park Lake and Pole Hill.
Leave it or put it right?
A full grease trap lets grease through to the drains. It hardens on the pipe walls until water cannot get through. Cleaning the trap regularly is far easier than clearing a blocked drain. A quieter site near Hainault still needs its system looked after.
We don’t list prices on the website, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. For a fixed quote, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos, and we will talk you through it.

How we price grease trap cleaning
Every site gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- How many systems or sites are involved
- The condition of the system
- How easy every part is to reach
The cost depends on how big the system is, what state it’s in and access to every part of it. You get a fixed price before we start, so you know where you stand.
What to send for a quote
What to send for a quote:
- Problems your staff have spotted
- A few general shots of the system
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- Your last certificate, test record or report
To get a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. You’ll usually have a quote within one working day.
Common questions in Hainault
Do you work in school kitchens around Hainault out of term?
Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. There are about 18 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Hainault. Send us your term dates when you give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line, and we’ll fit the work in.
Do you work in villages like Hainault?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Hainault included. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
What paperwork should we keep on file?
Each report and certificate we give you, kept together in your maintenance log with your in-house cleaning records. BESA says certificates should show the date, location and technician.
Are you fully insured?
Yes, we’re fully insured. CHAS and SafeContractor accreditation sit alongside it, for sites that check contractor safety.
What does TR19 mean?
A BESA specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extract systems and TR19® Air for general ventilation. It isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark.
How much notice do you need?
For planned work, earlier is better, particularly if your next visit is nearly due. For emergencies, we take calls 24/7.
Can one contract cover all our sites?
Yes. We work across South East England and London, so we can schedule a run of sites as one programme. Every site has its own report.
What happens if a grease trap isn’t cleaned?
Grease escapes into the drains when the trap is full. It sets there and narrows the pipes and causes blockages. Regular cleaning prevents it.
What we do, step by step
Night work is normal for us. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so the site can open as normal afterwards. On site, the work takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap. Visits to a place like Hainault are planned ahead, so we arrive with what the survey says the job needs.
- A visit is booked around your service.
- We open the trap and look at its condition.
- We remove the grease layer and settled solids.
- The inside, baffles and outlet are cleaned.
- We close it up, check it drains and suggest when it needs cleaning again.
Preparing for the visit
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
Get a fixed quote
Photos are the quickest way to a quote: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

Between visits
Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it makes the next visit easier:
- Tell us when sinks start draining slowly
- Don’t wait for a blockage to book a clean
- Collect waste cooking oil separately
- Get food waste into the bin, not the sink
Between cleans, keep food scraps out of the sink. Sink strainers help catch solids before they reach the trap.
If the kitchen has got busier, the trap fills faster. Shortening the cleaning interval now keeps the drains flowing.
What grease trap cleaning cannot fix
In fairness, some problems need a different fix:
- Drains that are cracked or have collapsed
- Blockages in the public sewer beyond the property
- A unit that cannot cope with the kitchen’s output
If in doubt, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will say what we think.
