Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Managing agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works, and we will send a fixed quote.

Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Every visit ends with a dated report and photos, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.

Grease trap cleaning in Gravesend

Grease trap cleaning keeps the drains running and the smells away. The fat, oil, grease and solids are taken out, clean the inside and the baffles, and check the trap is working properly. If you’re dealing with a full, neglected grease trap and grease setting in the kitchen pipework, we can put it right, from pot wash sinks, under-sink grease traps and school and care home kitchens onwards.

Rural kitchens may drain to a septic tank or a private drain rather than straight into a public sewer, and fat getting past a grease trap can cause real trouble there.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a dated report with pictures of the work, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

Gravesend kitchens: local notes

The FSA’s data shows about 3 pubs and bars registered in Gravesend and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Pub and hotel kitchens get the same build-up behind equipment and in the grease trap as any other. At about 29 miles from central London, Gravesend sits well inside the area we cover. Visits are booked around your hours, evenings and weekends included. Food hygiene inspections in Gravesend are the job of East Hertfordshire council’s environmental health team. Walls, floors, ceilings and equipment are all part of what they look at. Keeping a record of deep cleans and grease trap visits helps at inspection time.

Half-term is a good time for school kitchens, at schools like Albury Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School for instance, to have the grease trap emptied and the kitchen deep cleaned. If you run a kitchen in an older building near Gravesend, such as a historic house like Much Hadham Palace (about 3.6 miles south), older drains make a working grease trap all the more important. Hall and church kitchens, near Church of St Mary or anywhere around Gravesend, are used by many hands, and periodic deep cleans and grease trap visits keep them in order.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We’ll take a look and send you a fixed quote.

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Keeping the system healthy

To keep the system working properly between visits:

  • Mention any increase in cooking
  • Never pour used oil down the sink
  • Keep access to the trap clear
  • Report slow or smelly sinks early

Keep used oil out of the drains and the trap won’t fill as quickly. It’s the single easiest way to help.

An overfull trap lets grease pass. Regular emptying keeps it working and saves a call-out for a blocked drain.

How we price grease trap cleaning

Every site gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • The condition we find in the survey
  • How big the system is
  • How easy every part is to reach

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll go through it with you.

What we need to know

To speed up the quote, send us:

  • A few general shots of the system
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • The postcode and the type of business
  • Your last certificate, test record or report

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your photos and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price, before any work starts.

What the work involves, part by part

Inline grease traps

Inline traps are fitted into the drain line. They hold more than under-sink units but still fill up.

School, care home and staff kitchens

Drains in care settings need to keep flowing. We fit visits around mealtimes.

Your questions about grease trap cleaning in Gravesend

Which council inspects kitchens in Gravesend?

The local authority for Gravesend is East Hertfordshire council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. Photos from a deep clean are a simple record of what was done and when.

Do you work at weekends in Gravesend?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. The site is handed back ready to open. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Who is the responsible person?

It depends on the building. The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty on the responsible person, which can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, an FM or a managing agent.

What happens if a grease trap is not cleaned?

A full trap cannot catch any more grease. The grease hardens in the pipes, leading to blocked drains and smells and can end up adding to sewer blockages.

Which accreditations do you hold?

We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, alongside BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. The Vent Hygiene Elite scheme is run by BESCA and audited independently.

Does the report say when we need you again?

Yes. Every report includes a recommended date for the next visit, based on use and what we found.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. We always survey first, either from pictures and details you send or on a site visit. Then you get a fixed quote.

Which kinds of sites do you work on?

We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, as well as food production and leisure sites.

What grease trap cleaning cannot fix

We will always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what this work cannot put right:

  • Blockages in the public sewer beyond the property
  • A grease trap that’s too small for the kitchen
  • Collapsed or damaged drains, which need a drainage contractor

If in doubt, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What the work covers

  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • Under-sink grease traps
  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Inline grease traps
  • School and care home kitchens
  • Pot wash sinks

What we do, step by step

The visit has three parts: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, and the sign-off is a written report with pictures. Most of the time goes on the work itself, and that takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap. Somewhere as small as Gravesend, the date and timings are agreed with you well before the day.

  1. We locate the trap and check how it’s fitted.
  2. We make sure nothing drains into the trap.
  3. We empty out the fat, oil, grease and solids.
  4. The chambers and baffles are cleaned.
  5. We refit it, run water through and remove the waste.

How to prepare
