Grease trap cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Furnace Green

Grease trap cleaning keeps the drains running and the smells away. The fat, oil, grease and solids are taken out and the chambers and baffles cleaned, and check the trap is working properly. Your questions about grease trap cleaning in Furnace Green

Is Furnace Green within the area you cover?

Yes. Furnace Green is within the area we cover across London and the South East. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Which council inspects kitchens in Furnace Green?

That’s Crawley council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Furnace Green. Inspection results feed into the food hygiene rating published by the Food Standards Agency.

Will I get paperwork for my records?

Yes. It’s the record insurers and inspectors ask to see: a written, dated record with photos of what we did and anything we couldn’t access.

What problems does a full grease trap cause?

An overfull trap lets grease into the drains. There it hardens on the pipe walls and causes blockages. Regular cleaning prevents it.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. You deal with one contact for every site in our area, with visits on a regular schedule.

How long does a grease trap clean take?

The size and state of the trap make the difference, and you can expect it to take anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap. You’ll know before the visit.

Do you have a 24/7 line?

Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line for anything that can’t wait until a planned visit. Ring any time and tell us what’s happened.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Regular plans can run on 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycles, depending on what the system needs.

When something else is needed

An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work can’t put right:

  • Sewer problems outside the premises
  • A leaking sink waste or trap connection
  • Grease deep in the drains, which needs jetting by a drainage contractor

Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on in Furnace Green

  • School and care home kitchens
  • Under-sink grease traps
  • Pot wash sinks
  • Inline grease traps
  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • Kitchen waste pipes

What we’re called out for in Furnace Green

If a trap isn’t emptied, grease passes straight through. It goes on into the drain and on towards the sewer, where it can cause blockages.

If you notice any of these, it’s worth a diagnosis:

  • Grease setting in the kitchen pipework
  • An interceptor full of grease and solids
  • A kitchen drain that smells
  • Washing-up water that won’t drain away

Where a church or community hall near St Andrew's Church, or anywhere in Furnace Green, has a kitchen used by volunteers, a periodic deep clean keeps it ready for the next event.

What your quote should include

  • Whether the figure could change on the day
  • Whether the quote is based on a survey or photos
  • When the next visit should be, and why
  • Which accreditations they hold, and whether you can check them

Our hiring checklist

What happens if it’s left?

A smelly, overflowing trap attracts pests. Keeping the trap clean removes something they’re looking for as part of a clean kitchen. A visit arranged in advance is far less disruptive than a callout on a busy day.

What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why we survey first, from photos or on site, and the price is agreed before we start.

How the visit works

Protection comes first: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes a short visit for a small trap and longer for an inline unit or interceptor, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. Everything the job in Furnace Green needs is worked out beforehand, from the survey.

  1. First, we find the trap and look at its connections.
  2. Sinks feeding the trap are taken out of use.
  3. We empty out the fat, oil, grease and solids.
  4. The chambers and baffles are cleaned.
  5. The trap is refitted, tested with water and the waste taken away.

Preparing for the visit

  • Find the previous report, if there is one
  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards

Ask for a quote

For a fixed quote, call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. A few photos and your last certificate or report help a lot. We typically come back within one working day.

Multi-site and managed buildings

Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with photos.

When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.

Keeping a record of deep cleans and grease trap visits helps at inspection time.

Between visits

A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. We recommend:

  • Keep waste oil out of the drains
  • Keep access to the trap clear
  • Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up
  • Book trap cleans at a set interval

The waste we remove leaves with us. Nothing is left for you to dispose of after the visit.

Fat that escapes the trap hardens in the pipework. Once it’s there, it needs a drainage contractor to clear, so it’s far better to keep the trap clean.
