Isle of Wight · Grease trap cleaning
Grease trap cleaning in Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight
Our technicians work in Carisbrooke on emptying and cleaning of under-sink and inline grease traps in commercial kitchens. Out-of-hours visits, a fixed quote and a written report with photos on every job.
- A blocked kitchen drain caused by grease
- Foul odours from the grease trap
- A larger grease trap that needs emptying
How the job changes from site to site
Restaurant and takeaway kitchens
Visits are booked when the sinks aren’t in use so the kitchen isn’t disrupted.
Grease interceptors
A larger unit takes more time to empty and clean and we allow for that.
Grease trap cleaning in Carisbrooke
Once a trap is full, grease passes straight through. Fat sets in the pipes downstream and the result is blocked drains and bad smells. A trap that is cleaned regularly keeps grease where it belongs. If you’re dealing with an under-sink unit that needs regular emptying and a routine grease trap service, we can put it right.
For a kitchen near Carisbrooke, deep cleans are booked around opening hours, often on a closed day, and the journey is planned ahead.
Think of the report as the system’s health record: a dated account with pictures of everything we did. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal and sits alongside the report.

What grease trap cleaning can’t fix
We’d rather tell you now than book work that won’t help, so these are the things it won’t cover:
- Sewer problems outside the premises
- Plumbing leaks around the sink
- Drains that need jetting rather than trap cleaning
Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will tell you honestly.
What the work covers
- Kitchen waste pipes
- School and care home kitchens
- Under-sink grease traps
- Pot wash sinks
- Inline grease traps
- Restaurants and takeaways
How the visit works
Protection comes first: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap, and we clear up before we go. Around Carisbrooke, access is typically simpler than in a town centre, though gates and roof access are worth mentioning.
- We find the trap and check how it’s connected.
- We ask for the sinks that drain into the trap not to be used.
- We take out the layer of fat, oil and grease and any solids.
- Every part of the trap is scraped and cleaned, including the baffles.
- Once it’s refitted, water is run through to check it drains, and we take the waste with us.
Before we arrive
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
Getting a quote
For a fixed quote, ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. A few pictures and your last certificate or report help a lot. You’ll usually have a quote within one working day.
Advice
How we price grease trap cleaning
You will get a fixed price before work begins. It’s based on:
- Any permits to work or inductions
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- The condition of the system
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we survey first, from photos or on site, and why the quote is fixed before we start.
Asking for a quote
We can often survey from pictures. Try to include:
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- Your last certificate, test record or report
Here’s what helps us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, a few pictures and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
Common questions in Carisbrooke
Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Carisbrooke?
The local authority for Carisbrooke is Isle of Wight council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. Photos from a deep clean are a simple record of what was done and when.
Do you work in villages like Carisbrooke?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Carisbrooke included. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes, of course. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we’ll propose a schedule with a fixed quote.
What does TR19 mean?
TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.
How much notice do you need?
Book as early as you can for planned work, particularly if your next visit is nearly due. Emergencies are different, because our line is open 24/7.
Are you accredited?
We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.
What do you do with the waste?
We take the grease and solids away with us. Nothing greasy is left on site after the visit.
Will I get paperwork for my records?
Yes. Each visit ends with a written report and photos, covering the work, any areas we couldn’t access and the recommended next date. Kitchen extract cleans to TR19® Grease also get a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.
For landlords and multi-site operators
We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare across the Isle of Wight. Work can be phased by floor, building or site to keep disruption down.
Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: diagnosis, a fixed price, work booked around your hours and a written report with pictures.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, and that is where we come in.
Keeping the system healthy
Results last longer with the right care. We suggest:
- Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up
- Let us know if the kitchen gets busier
- Don’t wait for a blockage to book a clean
- Never pour used oil down the sink
We’ll suggest when the trap should be cleaned again. That depends on how quickly it filled and how busy the kitchen is.
More cooking means more grease in the trap. Shortening the cleaning interval now stops it overflowing.
Carisbrooke kitchens: local notes
There are about 57 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 20 takeaways and sandwich shops within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Carisbrooke, according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. Wherever they wash pans and plates, fat heads for the drain unless a trap catches it. In Carisbrooke, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Isle of Wight council. An inspection covers the structure of the kitchen as well as the food. A record of each deep clean helps show the kitchen is kept in order.
For schools such as St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary School, deep cleans and grease trap work are typically booked for the holidays. Hall and church kitchens, near St. Mary's Church or anywhere around Carisbrooke, are used by many hands, and periodic deep cleans and grease trap visits keep them in order. Historic houses such as Carisbrooke Castle (about 0.3 miles south-east) are part of the area around Carisbrooke, and if you run event catering at a venue like that, a deep clean between seasons helps.
