Your questions about grease trap cleaning in Berry's Green

Can you come to Berry's Green after we close?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. It means the site in Berry's Green keeps running as normal. When you give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email, mention when the site is quiet.

Who inspects food businesses in Berry's Green?

That’s Bromley council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Berry's Green. Keep the dates of your last deep clean and grease trap visit with your food safety records, ready if an officer asks.

Do you work in Berry's Green?

Yes. We work in Berry's Green and across Greater London, as part of our work across South East England and London. For a fixed quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.

Are you accredited?

Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. The Vent Hygiene Elite scheme is run by BESCA and audited independently.

Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, it’s the responsible person: normally the employer or whoever controls the premises. In shared or managed buildings, a landlord, facilities manager or managing agent can share the duty.

What paperwork should we keep on file?

Every certificate and report from each visit, kept together in your maintenance log, along with your own cleaning log. BESA says certificates should show the date, location and technician.

Do you deal with blocked drains beyond the grease trap?

A trap clean removes the grease in the trap and that may solve a slow drain caused by the trap. Blockages further down the drain, or damaged pipework, need a drainage contractor.

How far ahead should we book?

It depends on the time you need and how big the job is. Tell us your preferred dates when you ask for a quote, and for anything urgent, ring our 24/7 emergency line.

About our grease trap cleaning in Berry's Green

No two traps are quite the same. Under-sink units are small and fill quickly, while inline traps and interceptors hold more. We assess the trap and how fast it fills before suggesting how often it needs cleaning. Common call-outs are for grease setting in the kitchen pipework and an inline trap or interceptor due for cleaning, across pot wash sinks, school and care home kitchens and inline grease traps.

Across London, many commercial kitchens are compact and run long hours, so grease collects behind equipment, on ceilings and in drains and grease traps. For a kitchen in Berry's Green, the work is usually done overnight, between the last service and the first.

We’ve been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

How we price grease trap cleaning

There’s no set price list, because sites vary so much. The quote depends on:

  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • The condition we find in the survey
  • The number of sites or systems
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle

What you pay depends on the size of the system, the condition it’s in and how easy it is to reach. You get a fixed price before work begins, so you know where you stand.

Asking for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. With your enquiry, please include:

  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is

Quotes are quick. Send a few details and photos, and we typically reply with a fixed quote within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.

What the work involves, part by part

Inline grease traps

Inline traps are fitted into the drain line. They’re larger than under-sink traps but still fill up.

Baffles and outlets

We check the inlet, outlet and baffles at each clean so the trap works as it should.

For landlords and multi-site operators

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

When the building owner and the occupier are different, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We’re happy to deal with either side, and the report can go to both.

Signs you need grease trap cleaning in Berry's Green

Hot washing-up water keeps grease liquid for a while. Once it cools, it sets in the pipework or the drain.

Most sites get in touch after spotting one of these:

  • Sinks that drain slowly
  • Drains clogged with fat
  • A kitchen drain that smells
  • A regular cleaning plan for the grease trap

Half-term is a good time for school kitchens, at schools like Cudham Church of England Primary School for instance, to have the grease trap emptied and the kitchen deep cleaned.

What your quote should include

  • Whether inaccessible sections are listed on the report
  • Proof of insurance
  • Whether the work can be done while the site is closed
  • Whether the price is fixed

How to choose an extract cleaning contractor

Keeping the system healthy

Good habits slow the build-up between visits. Our tips:

  • Let us know if the kitchen gets busier
  • Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up
  • Keep strainers in every sink
  • Make sure the trap can be reached easily

Anything we notice beyond the trap, like a slow drain downstream, is pointed out. It may need a drainage specialist to investigate.

If the kitchen has got busier, the trap fills faster. Shortening the cleaning interval now keeps the drains flowing.

Leave it or put it right?

Pests are drawn to grease and food waste. Keeping the trap clean removes something they’re looking for as part of a clean kitchen. London buildings are shared, so a fire or failure in one system can reach the neighbours above and beside you.

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.

What we do, step by step

Everything the job needs comes with us, from protective sheeting to tools and access equipment. All we need from you is clear access and the right equipment switched off. The visit takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap. Expect the work in Berry's Green to happen after your last customer leaves, not during trading.

  1. We start by finding the trap and checking its inlet and outlet.
  2. The sinks feeding the trap are kept out of use while we work.
  3. We take out the layer of fat, oil and grease and any solids.
  4. The inside, baffles and pipe connections are cleaned.
  5. Once it’s refitted, water is run through to check it drains, and we take the waste with us.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand

Ask for a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
