Wyddial grease filter exchange
Grease filter exchange in Wyddial from ventilation hygiene specialists trading since 2009. Evenings, overnight and weekends, plus a 24/7 emergency line.
- Bent or damaged filters that do not sit properly
- Grease building up behind the canopy filters
- Hand-washed filters that still look greasy
How we handle grease filter exchange in Wyddial
Across Wyddial, our filter exchange suits restaurants, pubs, cafés, schools, care homes and other kitchens, whether there’s one canopy or many. Visits can be timed around your service so nobody has to stop cooking. We are often asked to deal with weak extraction at the canopy and filters left unwashed on busy weeks, across wall canopies, mesh filters and island canopies.
In a village or hamlet like Wyddial, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are usually a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease, whatever the size of the place.
We’ve been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

What the work involves, part by part
The plenum
Clean filters reduce the grease reaching the plenum, but it still needs cleaning as part of TR19.
Baffle filters
A clogged baffle filter restricts airflow. A clean exchange set brings the airflow back.
What staff can safely do
If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.

Your questions about grease filter exchange in Wyddial
Can you get to a site in Wyddial?
Yes. Wyddial is within the area we cover across London and the South East. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
Which fire authority looks after Wyddial?
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is the fire and rescue service for Wyddial. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes. For many sites, photos and a few details are enough, while bigger or harder-to-see systems are surveyed on site.
How much notice do you need?
Book as early as you can for planned work, especially if the next clean or test is due soon. For emergencies, we take calls 24/7.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes, day and night, every day of the year. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and the emergency line covers the rest.
What’s TR19?
A BESA specification, with two parts that matter most here: TR19® Grease for kitchen extract systems and TR19® Air for general ventilation. It isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark.
Do you work with multi-site operators?
Yes. We work across South East England and London, so sites at different addresses can be planned together as one programme. Each site gets its own report and pictures.
What’s the right interval for changing filters?
It varies with the type and amount of cooking. If filters clog early, the interval needs shortening, and we can change it.
How it works
There are three stages on the day: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, and the sign-off is a written report with photos. Most of the time goes on the work itself, and that takes well under an hour for most canopies. Seeing the system in pictures first means the trip to Wyddial can be planned properly.
- We count and measure the filters in every canopy.
- We agree a schedule that suits how much the kitchen cooks.
- At every visit, the greasy filters are lifted out.
- Clean, dry filters are fitted in their place, with no gaps left between them.
- If a filter is damaged or the plenum needs attention, we tell you.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
Getting a quote
Quotes are quick. Call or email with a few details and you will normally have a fixed price within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.

Grease filter exchange in Wyddial: the local picture
Look up Wyddial on the FSA’s food hygiene register and you’ll find about 11 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 5 takeaways and sandwich shops within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Wyddial. Each canopy among them has filters that load with grease and need swapping or cleaning. Food hygiene inspections in Wyddial are the job of East Hertfordshire council’s environmental health team. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. Wyddial is covered by Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel.
For schools such as Layston Church of England First School, kitchen extract cleaning is typically booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed. A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of St Giles or elsewhere in Wyddial, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often.

Keeping the system healthy
A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. We recommend:
- Do not refit a filter that is bent
- Watch for grease drips between visits
- Keep the extract on whenever the range is in use
- Tell us if the menu or opening hours change
We tell you if we spot anything in the canopy that needs attention. It can be a sign that a full TR19® clean is due and we can book that in.
Saturated filters let more grease through. A regular cycle keeps the rest of the system cleaner between full cleans.
How we price grease filter exchange
Sites vary more than people expect. The main factors:
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- Travel, parking and unloading
- How big the system is
- Whether several sites go on one quote
Several systems or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Mention every system or site you need covered, and you’ll get one fixed quote.
What we need to know
We can often survey from photos. Try to include:
- Any previous report or certificate
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- The site address and the type of premises
- Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
To get a fixed quote, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. You’ll normally have a quote within one working day.
For landlords and multi-site operators
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we can quote for the whole system.
If you look after several sites, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.
