How we handle grease filter exchange in Lovedean

Think of filter exchange as routine care for the extract. Between full cleans, it keeps the airflow healthy and takes a messy task off your team. The full TR19 clean then gives the system its clean bill of health. If you’re dealing with grease left in baffles after washing and grease filters clogged with grease, we can put it right.

Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. We agree access and timings in advance.

Think of the report as the system’s health record: dated, with photos, and showing what was done. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, ready for your insurer.

Lovedean questions

Do you work in villages like Lovedean?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Can the work in Lovedean be done at night or at weekends?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. That way a site in Lovedean does not have to lose a day’s trading. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

Do you deal with bent or broken filters?

Filters that no longer fit properly need replacing. We will tell you which ones and why on the visit.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a fan failure or damage after a fire, ring the 24/7 line, and we’ll advise on what to do next.

Is filter exchange enough instead of a full extract clean?

No. Some grease passes the filters as vapour and settles in the ducts and the whole system still needs its TR19 clean.

What if parts of the system can’t be reached?

They’re listed in the report, never skipped quietly. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.

Who has the legal duty for fire safety?

The Fire Safety Order 2005 calls them the responsible person: normally the employer or whoever controls the premises. Landlords, facilities managers and managing agents can also hold responsibility.

How much notice should we give?

For planned work, earlier is better, particularly if your next visit is nearly due. Emergencies are different, because our line is open 24/7.

Between visits

Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:

  • Report a dripping canopy early
  • Keep every filter in place during service
  • Always run the extract while cooking
  • Tell us if a filter is bent or damaged

Once the clean filters are in, the kitchen can cook straight away. The dirty set leaves with us to be cleaned.

Filters that are left too long stop protecting the system. Getting onto a regular exchange now keeps grease out of the plenum and ductwork until the next TR19 clean.

Honest limits

Some problems need a different service or another trade:

  • Grease already built up in the ductwork, which needs a full TR19 clean
  • A noisy or failed extract fan
  • A heavily greased plenum or canopy, which needs cleaning to TR19

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Baffle filters
  • Restaurants and pubs
  • Island canopies
  • School and hospital kitchens
  • Mesh filters
  • Wall canopies

The process

We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before work begins, and the area around the work is covered and protected. On site, it takes anything from a few minutes to an hour or so, depending on the number of filters. If you can send pictures, we can arrive in Lovedean knowing what to expect.

  1. We start by noting how many filters you have and what type they are.
  2. A change schedule is agreed to match the kitchen’s cooking hours.
  3. At every visit, the greasy filters are lifted out.
  4. Clean filters go straight back in, seated properly with no gaps.
  5. If a filter is damaged or the plenum needs attention, we tell you.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us where we can park and unload
  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms

Getting a quote

Some systems can be priced from pictures; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.

Why deal with it now?

Some kitchens in Lovedean wash filters themselves to save the cost of a service, and it works when it’s done well and never skipped. Where it slips, an exchange service takes the job off staff. It’s worth booking a check, because nobody sees inside a duct day to day.

We don’t list prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we will talk you through it.

What you get with us

  • Fixed quotes from a survey or pictures
  • We diagnose before we treat
  • Out-of-hours work and a 24/7 emergency line
  • A written report with pictures after every visit

Lovedean kitchens: local notes

The FSA’s data shows about 5 bars, pubs and nightclubs registered in and around Lovedean, up to about a mile and a half out. Any of them serving cooked food has an extract to keep clean, from canopy to discharge. Environmental health officers from East Hampshire council inspect food businesses in Lovedean. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. The fire and rescue service for Lovedean is Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order.

Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Havant War Memorial Hospital (about 4.3 miles south-east), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands.

What staff can safely do

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that is where we come in.

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Multi-site and managed buildings

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too across Hampshire. Larger estates can be phased building by building around the people who use them.

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.

Do you need grease filter exchange in Lovedean?

What a kitchen cooks affects how fast filters clog. Fryers, grills and woks load filters faster than ovens and steamers, so the right exchange interval varies.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Grease filters clogged with grease
  • Grease left in baffles after washing
  • Poor airflow through the filters
  • Bent or damaged filters that don’t sit properly

School kitchens, at schools like Woodcroft Primary for example, are usually cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost.

Comparing quotes

  • What’s included in the scope, part by part
  • Whether the quote is based on a survey or photos
  • Whether the work can be done while the site is closed
  • How areas they can’t reach will be recorded
