Hartley Mauditt grease filter exchange
Professional grease filter exchange in and around Hartley Mauditt, timed so the site keeps working and finished with a written report and photos.
- Grease collecting in the filter channels
- Filter washing that keeps being missed
- Filters so greasy the air can barely pass
Grease filter exchange in Hartley Mauditt, done properly
Good filters only work when they fit properly. Bent, damaged or missing filters leave gaps, so we check every one at each visit. Damaged filters are flagged so they can be replaced. If you have poor airflow through the filters and staff short of time to wash filters, we can help, from restaurants and pubs, island canopies and mesh filters onwards.
Somewhere as small as Hartley Mauditt, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease.
Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a dated report with photos of the work, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

Questions from Hartley Mauditt
Which fire service covers Hartley Mauditt?
It’s Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Hartley Mauditt. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.
Do you work at weekends in Hartley Mauditt?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. It means the site in Hartley Mauditt keeps running as normal. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we will book within them.
Can damaged filters stay in the canopy?
We check every filter at each visit. We tell you about any that are damaged since a poor fit lets grease past.
What do you do to protect the area?
Floors and surfaces near the work are sheeted before any work starts, and anything we remove is contained. Before we leave, we tidy up and clean down.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line for anything that can’t wait until a planned visit. Ring any time and tell us what’s happened.
How far ahead should we book?
That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Tell us your preferred dates when you ask for a quote, and for anything urgent, ring our 24/7 emergency line.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. You deal with one contact for every site in our area, and visits can be set on a regular cycle.
Which accreditations do you hold?
We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. The Vent Hygiene Elite scheme is run by BESCA and audited independently.
The process
Each visit runs to the same pattern: protect the area, make the system safe, do the work, tidy up and hand over the paperwork. On site, the work takes a short visit, depending on how many filters the canopies hold. Somewhere as small as Hartley Mauditt, the date and timings are agreed with you well before the day.
- We record the number, size and type of your filters.
- An exchange schedule is agreed to suit your cooking.
- The dirty set is lifted out.
- Clean filters go in and we check they sit snugly.
- We take the greasy set away and confirm the next date.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any parking or loading restrictions
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend

Related advice
For landlords and multi-site operators
Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.
Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too in Hartley Mauditt and across Hampshire. Larger estates can be phased building by building around the people who use them.
Looking after it afterwards
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. Our tips:
- Make sure no filter is left out
- Report a dripping canopy early
- Let us know if your cooking hours increase
- Keep the extract on whenever the range is in use
The canopy looks cleaner and the air moves better straight away. Keep the extract running while you cook so the filters do their job.
Clean filters plus regular full cleans keep the system in good health. Setting both up on a schedule means neither slips.
Different parts, different methods
The plenum
Heavy grease in the plenum often follows clogged or missing filters or that the next TR19 clean is due.
Baffle filters
In a baffle filter, the air zigzags through metal baffles. Grease drops out as it does.
When something else is needed
We will not sell you work that does not address the problem, so here are the limits:
- A canopy that needs a proper clean
- An extract that was undersized from the start
- Grease already built up in the ductwork, which needs a full TR19 clean
Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.
Hartley Mauditt kitchens: local notes
The FSA’s food hygiene register shows about 3 restaurants, cafés and canteens within about 1.5 miles of central Hartley Mauditt. Where they cook under a canopy, the grease filters are the first line of defence and clog quickly. Hartley Mauditt sits within the area of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. Environmental health officers from East Hampshire council inspect food businesses in Hartley Mauditt. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready.

What happens if it’s left?
In Hartley Mauditt, as everywhere, a filter service is not a substitute for TR19 cleaning. They do help keep the system in better shape between cleans, and that shows when the next clean comes round. Rural sites cannot always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.
