Winsor: your questions answered
Can you come to Winsor after we close?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. Your customers, staff or residents in Winsor needn’t be disturbed. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.
Is there an emergency callout for extract fans in Winsor?
Day or night, a failed fan in Winsor can be reported on our emergency line. Use 0345 646 2711, our emergency number, at any time. Details of the make and model help us plan the repair.
Can you repair a fan rather than replace it?
Repair is always our starting point. If the fan is past saving, a replacement may be more sensible, and we’ll explain why.
What paperwork should we keep on file?
Everything that shows the system is looked after: reports, certificates, pictures and your own cleaning or check logs. A single log for each site works best.
What is TR19?
It’s the industry benchmark for cleaning ventilation and kitchen extract systems, written by BESA. It covers how systems are inspected, cleaned and checked, and it takes a risk-based approach.
Which accreditations do you hold?
We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.
What types of premises do you cover?
Restaurants and pubs, hotels, schools and colleges, hospitals and care homes, offices and retail, plus food production and leisure sites.
What happens if you can’t reach some of it?
Anything we can’t reach goes on the report, with photos where possible, and we explain what access is needed, for example new access panels.
Extract fan repair in Winsor, done properly
Diagnosis comes before parts. We look at the motor, the belts or direct drive, the impeller and the mountings, along with the fan’s controls. After that, you get a fixed price for what’s needed. Common call-outs are for poor airflow at the canopy and a belt-driven fan that squeals, across fan motors, belts and pulleys and bearings.
Rural kitchens often have fans mounted on outside walls or roofs, exposed to the weather. Weather and grease together wear out motors and bearings.
We’ve been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we are fully insured.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?
When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We will take a look and give you a fixed quote.
Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, alongside our reports.
Aftercare tips
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. Our tips:
- Book regular TR19 cleaning, which includes the fan
- Save our number for the 24/7 emergency line
- Note when the fan trips or cuts out
- Make sure the isolator and controls are easy to reach
Once the fan is running smoothly, keep the filters clean. Less grease on the impeller means less wear and the quieter it runs.
When filters block, the fan works harder. Changing or cleaning them on time takes load off the motor and helps prevent overheating.
What extract fan repair can’t fix
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- Problems with the electrical supply to the fan (an electrician’s job)
- A greasy canopy and duct that a fan repair will not touch
- Cooking smells reaching neighbours, which may need odour control
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll tell you honestly.
What the work covers
- Fan housings
- Fan motors
- Roof and wall fans
- Kitchen extract fans
- Bearings
- Belts and pulleys
What affects the cost of extract fan repair
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- Parking and loading at the site
- How easy every part is to reach
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
Several systems or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at, and you’ll get one fixed quote.
What to send for a quote
Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Useful things to send:
- Problems your staff have spotted
- A few general shots of the system
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
Every quote begins with a look at the system, either from pictures and details you send or from a site visit. After that, you get a fixed price for the work, before any work starts.
When to call us in Winsor
Over the years, mountings loosen and rubber mounts break down. The fan’s movement then travels into the ductwork and structure and that’s a common source of rattles.
Clients normally contact us when they notice one of these:
- A motor that trips out or overheats
- A fan worn beyond sensible repair
- A dead fan motor
- An extract that vibrates through the ductwork
Hall kitchens near Church of St Mary, or anywhere around Winsor, often use their fans only now and then, and an idle fan can stick.
Before you book anyone
- Proof of accreditation you can verify
- What hours they’ll be on site
- Whether the price is fixed
- Whether they’re fully insured

If you manage a school such as Copythorne CofE Infant School and the kitchen fan is getting louder, the next break is the time to deal with it.

What happens if it’s left?
A struggling motor runs hotter and works harder. Every hour of strain takes its toll, and when it finally fails, it may take other parts with it. Early attention keeps the cost and disruption down. Out of sight is the usual reason a rural system goes too long without attention.
Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all make a difference.
Why us?
- Fixed quotes, normally within one working day
- Accredited under CHAS and SafeContractor, with ISO 9001
- A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London
- Member of BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease

How the visit works
We are used to working while the site is closed. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. On site, the work takes anything from an hour or two to a full visit, depending on the fault. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Winsor before we set off.
- First, you tell us the symptoms: noise, shaking, weak extraction or no power.
- Power to the fan is isolated before we open the housing.
- We check the motor, bearings, drive, impeller and mountings.
- We explain the fault and give you a fixed price for the fix.
- We fix or replace the fan, then test it running before we leave.
Before we arrive
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
- Clear loose items from the work area
- Agree a time when the area can be out of use
Getting a quote
Photos are the quickest way to a quote: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
