Fixed quotes for extract fan cleaning in Ringwould

Sites vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:

  • Travel, parking and unloading
  • The condition we find in the survey
  • Working hours and out-of-hours timing
  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule

What you pay depends on how big the system is, the condition it’s in and access to every part of it. You get a fixed price before we start, so you know where you stand.

What we need to know

We can often survey from pictures. Try to include:

  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before we start.

Common call-outs are for a fan shaking on its mounts and burning smells from the fan area, across discharge points, centrifugal fans and roof-mounted fans.

How the visit works

There are three stages on the day: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, while signing off means the written report and pictures. The middle part takes longest, and that takes an hour or two for most single fans. A quick note on how to find the site and where to park makes a visit to Ringwould run smoothly.

  1. First we locate the fan and agree how it’s safely isolated.
  2. The fan is isolated so it cannot start while we work.
  3. Grease is scraped from the impeller blades and the inside of the housing.
  4. The fan and its surrounds are degreased, keeping clear of the motor’s electrics.
  5. The fan is put back into service, checked and photographed.

Getting ready for the visit

Advice

Aftercare tips

So the system stays in good health:

  • File the fan’s report with your other records
  • Book the fan into every full TR19 clean
  • Look for grease stains near the discharge
  • Listen for new noises or vibration from the fan

File the photo report with your other extract records. It shows the fan’s condition at the time of the clean, which helps if anything changes later.

Listen to the fan. New noise or vibration often means grease is building on the impeller and early action can save a repair.

What a clean will not put right

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • Electrical faults in the fan’s supply or controls (an electrician’s job)
  • Grease in the canopy and ductwork
  • An impeller that’s bent or split

If in doubt, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will say what we think.

Parts of the system we cover

  • In-line fans
  • Axial fans
  • Discharge points
  • Roof-mounted fans
  • Fan housings
  • Centrifugal fans

Signs you need extract fan cleaning in Ringwould

Each blade collects a slightly different amount. Over time, that imbalance shakes the fan and puts strain on the bearings. What starts as a grease problem can become a mechanical one.

These are the problems we see most often:

  • A heavily greased fan housing
  • Vibration from an unbalanced impeller
  • A motor area thick with grease
  • Hot, greasy smells near the fan

A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of St Nicholas or elsewhere in Ringwould, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often.

Questions to ask before booking

  • What records you’ll receive afterwards
  • Whether inaccessible sections are listed on the report
  • Whether the quote is based on a survey or photos
  • Exactly which parts of the system are covered

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and multi-site operators

For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so records stay tidy.

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.

Ringwould questions

Do you work overnight in Ringwould?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. The work in Ringwould can fit around your hours. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we will book within them.

Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Ringwould?

That’s Dover council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Ringwould. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.

How often does the fan need cleaning?

It depends on how many hours the kitchen cooks, under BESA guidance. Heavy use means at least every 3 months, light use at least every 12, fan included.

Is it safe to clean the fan while the kitchen is open?

It has to be off and isolated before anyone touches it. We clean out of hours, in the evening, overnight or at weekends, so cooking isn’t affected.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before we start, and waste is contained as we go. At the end, the area is cleaned down.

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line, and we will advise on what to do next.

Will I get photos of the cleaned fan?

You get a photo report with before and after photos of the fan. If it’s part of a full TR19 clean, a TR19 certificate is issued too.

Which sectors do you work in?

We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, plus food production and leisure sites.

Leave it or put it right?

A greasy fan has to work harder to move the same air. Airflow at the canopy drops and the kitchen gets hotter and smokier, while the motor runs under more strain. It’s simpler to plan the work at Ringwould now than to arrange it in a hurry later.

One small site or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before any work starts.
