About our extract fan cleaning in Passfield

We have been trading since 2009. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we are fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. If you have a noisy fan that has got louder over time and grease escaping from the fan outlet, we can help.

Somewhere as small as Passfield, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a written report, dated and illustrated with photos, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

Aftercare tips

To keep the system working properly between visits:

  • Keep access to the fan clear
  • Note any drop in extraction at the canopy
  • Book the fan into every full TR19 clean
  • Don’t turn the fan off mid-service

A full system clean includes a TR19 certificate from the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. If only the fan is cleaned, the photo report says so.

Make sure the fan is reachable. Clear access means it’s never left out of a clean, whether it’s on a roof, in a ceiling or on a wall.

Your questions about extract fan cleaning in Passfield

Can you come to Passfield after we close?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. That way a site in Passfield does not have to lose a day’s trading. Just call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with your opening times and we will plan around them.

Do you work in villages like Passfield?

Yes. Passfield is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Is TR19 cleaning required by law?

No, not in itself. TR19® is the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs check against, and many insurers ask for proof of cleaning to it. The law behind it is the Fire Safety Order 2005, which applies in England and Wales.

Can one contract cover all our sites?

Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, so we can schedule a run of sites as one programme. Every site has its own report.

What does TR19 mean?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.

Which accreditations do you hold?

We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.

How often should the extract fan be cleaned?

It’s cleaned with the whole extract, from every 3 months for 12 to 16 hours of cooking a day to every 12 months for 2 to 6 hours. Readings may show it needs cleaning more often.

How much does extract fan cleaning cost in Passfield?

Size, condition, access and working hours all affect the cost. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll typically reply within one working day.

What affects the quote in Passfield

The price is fixed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • The size of the system
  • Where the site is and how we reach it

Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.

What we need to know

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:

  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet
  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow

The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.

The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.

What the work involves, part by part

Roof-mounted fans

Grease can escape from a roof fan onto the surrounding surface, so the outlet area is checked too. We note any grease around the fan.

Inline duct fans

Hidden in a ceiling void, an inline fan is easily missed. We find it during the survey and include it in the clean.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Some jobs should never be done in-house: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that’s where we come in.

How the visit works

We are used to working while the site is closed. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. The visit itself takes an hour or two for one fan, longer when it’s hard to reach. Seeing the system in photos first means the trip to Passfield can be planned properly.

  1. First we locate the fan and agree how it’s safely isolated.
  2. Power to the fan is isolated before anyone touches it.
  3. Grease is scraped from the impeller blades and the inside of the housing.
  4. We degrease the fan and housing, taking care around the motor.
  5. The fan is put back into service, checked and photographed.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move anything stored near the system
  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use
  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions

How to get a quote

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your pictures and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before any work starts.
