Extract fan cleaning in Goodley Stock

We have been trading since 2009. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we are fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. If you’re dealing with grease escaping from the fan outlet and a heavily greased fan housing, we can put it right.

Somewhere as small as Goodley Stock, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.

We are CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we are fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

The process

Night work is normal for us. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so the site can open as normal afterwards. On site, the work takes an hour or two for one fan, longer when it’s hard to reach. If the van will struggle with a lane or gateway near Goodley Stock, let us know and we will plan around it.

  1. Diagnosis first: we look for grease, noise and vibration.
  2. Once isolated, we open the fan up.
  3. Each blade is cleaned so the impeller runs evenly.
  4. We clean the casing, the outlet and around the motor.
  5. The fan goes back into service with a report on its condition.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
  • Clear the space around the work

How to get a quote

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your pictures and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before work begins.

How the job changes from site to site

Fan housings and motors

We clean around the motor without soaking its electrics, and the fan is isolated throughout. Grease around the motor can make it run hotter, so we clean what we safely can.

Kitchens with long cooking hours

When a busy kitchen’s fan fails, cooking stops. Keeping the fan clean is part of avoiding that, and our 24/7 emergency callout is there if it happens anyway.

Kitchen extracts in Goodley Stock

In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order.

What a clean won’t put right

We will not sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so these are the things it will not cover:

  • Grease in the duct and canopy before the fan (those need a full TR19 clean)
  • A failed motor or worn bearings (that needs a fan repair or replacement)
  • Electrical faults in the fan’s supply or controls (an electrician’s job)

If in doubt, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will say what we think.

FAQs for Goodley Stock

Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Goodley Stock?

Kent Fire and Rescue Service is the fire and rescue service for Goodley Stock. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.

Who inspects food businesses in Goodley Stock?

In Goodley Stock, it’s Sevenoaks council that carries out food hygiene inspections. Ratings are published by the Food Standards Agency, so a clean extract and good records are worth keeping up.

How often does the fan need cleaning?

The fan follows the full system’s interval at BESA’s minimum intervals for your cooking hours. Grease readings and the fan’s condition can show it needs more.

What information do you need?

Some photos and a quick description of the system, with the address and opening hours. If we need more, we will ask.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We are fully insured, and the details are available on request.

Does a TR19 kitchen extract clean cover the fan?

Yes, the fan is part of a full TR19® Grease clean. We clean it alongside the canopy, ductwork and discharge.

Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, it’s the responsible person: normally the employer or whoever controls the premises. In shared or managed buildings, a landlord, facilities manager or managing agent can share the duty.

What do you do to protect the area?

Floors and surfaces near the work are sheeted before we start, and waste is contained as we go. At the end, the area is cleaned down.

Aftercare tips

Results last longer with the right care. We suggest:

  • Don’t store items in front of the fan’s access point
  • Check the report shows the fan was cleaned
  • File the fan’s report with your other records
  • Keep the grease filters clean and in place

We take away the grease and dirty water from the fan clean. Wherever the fan is, the area around it is cleaned down.

Run the fan throughout cooking. Air that keeps moving carries vapour out rather than letting it settle, so keeping it running helps keep it clean.

Leave it or put it right?

Cleaning the fan in Goodley Stock now is a short job: it takes an hour or two for one fan, longer when it’s hard to reach. Leaving it means more wear, more noise and a bigger clean later. A fault that closes a site in a village like Goodley Stock affects everyone who depends on it.

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Problems in a system tend to grow, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you’re not sure what’s needed, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

How we price extract fan cleaning

The diagnosis comes before the price. We look at:

  • The condition we find in the survey
  • Any permits to work or inductions
  • The size of the system
  • Travel, parking and unloading

Several systems or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Mention every system or site you need covered, and you’ll get one fixed quote.

What we need to know

A few details help us quote accurately. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • Any access panels or hatches you can see
  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet

We do not publish a price list, because every site is different. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To get going, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Goodley Stock

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too in Goodley Stock and across Kent. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.

When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We’re happy to deal with either side, and the report can go to both.
