Stone Corner ductwork cleaning
One call covers ductwork cleaning in Stone Corner: survey, fixed quote, work and sign-off. Fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001.
- Duct runs with no cleaning record
- Grease pooling at the foot of the riser
- Thick crusts of old grease along the duct
How the visit works
Protection comes first: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes a few hours for a short run, longer for long runs and tall risers, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. Somewhere like Stone Corner, lanes, gates and parking are worth mentioning in advance.
- Diagnosis: a survey of the duct’s route, size and access.
- You get a fixed price before work starts.
- We clean section by section, working from panel to panel.
- We take extra care at bends and at the foot of risers.
- The duct is signed off with readings, pictures and a next clean date.
Preparing for the visit
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
How to get a quote
We don’t publish a price list, because every site is different. We look at your system first, from photos or on a visit, and then give you a fixed quote. To start, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.
Advice
About our ductwork cleaning in Stone Corner
Nobody sees duct grease building, so nobody notices it until something goes wrong. A flare-up drawn up from the range can light it, and fire can then run along the ductwork to other parts of the building. Cleaning the duct takes that fuel away. If you have smells of old cooking grease from the ductwork and grease leaking from duct joints, we can put it right, from bends and junctions, vertical risers and access panels onwards.
Work in a small place like Stone Corner starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

Different parts, different methods
Vertical risers
Risers often pass through floors and walls, so fire dampers may be fitted where it crosses them. We test those as a separate job.
Access panels
After cleaning, every panel is closed and sealed, so grease and air stay inside the duct. We’ll tell you if any panel needs replacing.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.
Your questions about ductwork cleaning in Stone Corner
Do you work in villages like Stone Corner?
Yes. Stone Corner is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.
Can you work in Stone Corner outside opening hours?
Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. The site is handed back ready to open. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.
Who is the responsible person?
In the words of the Fire Safety Order 2005, it’s the responsible person. It’s normally the employer, or whoever controls the building, and where several people have control, each can have duties. If you are not sure, check your lease and fire risk assessment.
Can you price the work without visiting?
Usually, yes. Send wide shots, close-ups of any access panels and anything that worries you, and we typically come back within one working day. If pictures are not enough, we will survey first.
How do you know if the ductwork needs cleaning?
A grease thickness test gives the answer. Using a Wet Film Thickness Test or Deposit Thickness Test, we check the grease at set points. BESA guidance says the mean shouldn’t exceed 200 microns, and 500 or more anywhere needs immediate spot cleaning.
Will we have to shut during the visit?
Not typically. Visits are timed for when the area is closed, such as overnight or at a weekend, so you keep your normal hours.
What is TR19?
BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification, with two parts that matter most here: TR19® Grease for kitchen extract systems and TR19® Air for general ventilation. It isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark.
How often should kitchen ducts be cleaned?
BESA guidance sets minimum intervals by daily cooking hours: 3-monthly for heavy use, 6-monthly for moderate and 12-monthly for light use. Grease readings may show it needs doing sooner.
What affects the quote in Stone Corner
The diagnosis comes before the price. We look at:
- Any permits to work or inductions
- How big the system is
- The condition of the system
- Travel, parking and unloading
Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.
What we need to know
Photos let us diagnose from a distance. Try to include:
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- Your last certificate, test record or report
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels

Do you need ductwork cleaning in Stone Corner?
Slow air leaves the most grease behind. Flat runs, bends, reducers and the base of risers are the usual hotspots, and those are the points we pay most attention to.
It’s time to book a visit if you see:
- Smells of old cooking grease from the ductwork
- A duct clean needed for an insurer
- Grease pooling at the foot of the riser
- Hardened, baked-on grease in long horizontal runs
Whether the kitchen is in Stone Corner itself or nearby, a TR19® clean covers the whole system, canopy to discharge.
Questions to ask before booking
- What records you’ll receive afterwards
- Whether a survey comes first
- How they set the interval to the next visit
- How VAT is shown on the quote
When it’s something else
We’d rather tell you now than book work that won’t help, so here are the limits:
- Ductwork that was poorly designed
- An extract fan that has stopped working
- Sections that can’t be reached safely without new access (those are recorded, and panels can be fitted)
If in doubt, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll say what we think.

Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Every visit ends with a dated report and photos, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.
From a single site to a large estate, you get the same standard: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.
