Ductwork Cleaning in South Ascot
Ductwork cleaning for commercial sites in South Ascot and across Windsor and Maidenhead. BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease.
- Ductwork that has never been cleaned
- A rancid smell from the extract duct
- Thick crusts of old grease along the duct
What the work involves, part by part
Multi-storey and shared buildings
In a shared building, the duct links the kitchen to other spaces, which makes keeping it clean all the more important. Your certificate and report give building managers the record they need.
Access panels
Panels have to seal properly once they’re closed, so grease and air stay inside the duct. A damaged panel is noted on the report.
Ductwork cleaning in South Ascot, done properly
If the ducts in South Ascot haven’t been cleaned for a while, or nobody is sure when they were? A few details about the system are a good start when you ring 0345 646 2711 or email us, and a fixed price will follow, normally within one working day. The work covers vertical risers, horizontal duct runs and attenuators, and people most often call us about a rancid smell from the extract duct and duct runs that can’t be reached.
Size doesn’t change the work: a kitchen in a place like South Ascot gets the whole system cleaned, canopy to discharge. The visit is booked around your opening hours, and the journey is planned ahead.
Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

Between visits
Simple habits between visits make a real difference. Our advice:
- Never cook with a filter missing
- Leave a way through to the access panels
- Have the grease measured if cooking hours go up
- Tell us if grease leaks from the ductwork
You will have a recommended date for the next clean, worked out from the grease we found and how long you cook each day, in line with BESA guidance.
Have access panels fitted where sections cannot be reached. Grease you can reach is grease that gets removed.
How we price ductwork cleaning
Every site gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- Any permits to work or inductions
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
- How many systems or sites are involved
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and why the quote is fixed before any work starts.
What to send for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- A few general shots of the system
- The postcode and the type of business
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

Questions from South Ascot
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for South Ascot?
Fire safety enforcement in South Ascot is handled by Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.
Is South Ascot within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
How often does extract ductwork need cleaning?
It follows the same interval as the whole extract, from every 3 months for heavy use to every 12 months for light use. Grease thickness testing shows whether that’s often enough.
What paperwork do you give after a duct clean?
When the duct is cleaned as part of a full TR19 clean, you get a TR19 certificate and a photo report. It includes readings, photos and any unreachable sections.
Can you fit access panels in our ductwork?
Yes, we fit access panels where the duct needs them. It means more of the duct can be cleaned next time, and the report will show where they’re needed.
What do you do to protect the area?
With sheeting and covers, before anything else happens. The work is kept contained and clean down when we finish.
How much notice do you need?
That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Tell us your preferred dates when you ask for a quote, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.
What does TR19 mean?
TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that is where we come in.
A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.
The process
We start by comparing what we find with the survey or your photos. If anything is different, we talk it through with the person on site before carrying on. From there, it takes from a few hours to more than one visit, depending on duct length and access. Everything the job in South Ascot needs is worked out beforehand, from the survey.
- First we diagnose: the route, the access and the grease levels.
- You get a fixed price before work starts.
- We clean section by section, working from panel to panel.
- We take extra care at bends and at the foot of risers.
- The duct is signed off with readings, pictures and a next clean date.
How to prepare
- Tell us where we can park and unload
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
Ask for a quote
Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in photos, get a survey first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.
Advice
When something else is needed
Before you book, it helps to know what’s not included:
- A damper stuck open in the duct
- Leaking duct joints that need repair
- Sections that can’t be reached safely without new access (those are recorded, and panels can be fitted)
If you’re not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will give you a straight answer.

Managing agents and facilities teams in South Ascot
We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements, and we’ll send a fixed quote.
The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.
Grease, kitchens and South Ascot
Food Standards Agency records include about 8 pubs, bars and clubs across South Ascot and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). A pub or hotel kitchen that cooks every day builds up grease in its extract like any other. Food hygiene inspections in South Ascot are the job of Windsor and Maidenhead council’s environmental health team. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector. South Ascot is covered by Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel.
A kitchen near Ascot station that serves breakfast and dinner can run its extract twelve hours or more, which shortens the cleaning interval. School kitchens, at schools like St Francis Catholic Primary School for example, are usually cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost. If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Heatherwood Hospital about 1 mile north-west, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.
